[Music] hi i'm akash and welcome to one more english lesson on phrasal verbs i have some excellent phrasal verbs for you in today's lesson and all these phrasal verbs they start with x y and z in my previous lesson on phrasal verbs i talked about the importance of learning english phrasal verbs they help you improve your english faster and speak english fluently and confidently if you haven't watched that lesson you'll find a link somewhere out here do watch it and we quickly move to our first phrasal verb and that's to x out to x out it means to stop thinking about something or somebody but cautiously you're just trying to get rid of those thoughts from your mind it simply means to erase or delete something from your thought process to x out when i thought of neha i simply text her out yeah possibly is my ex girlfriend and her thoughts i just want to erase them what i did i ext her out i have really tried hard to x out the memories of my accident x out it means to erase something now it's your turn why don't you write a sentence using x out it'll give you a good practice and help you remember this phrasal verb when using it in your actual conversation do drop a comment next i have for you is to yap at yap ad now there are some people who talk continuously and in an annoying way what are they doing they are yapping yap at means to talk continuously and in an annoying way i hate people on train and buses who keep yapping at me it means who keep talking at me and that in an annoying way john kept yapping at us about how successful he is at the college reunion party john is my ex-classmate so we met at the college reunion party and he just kept talking about his career success yapat means to talk continuously but in an annoying way i like this phrasal verb the most yolk together do you know what a yolk is a wooden cross piece that is fastened over the necks of two animals i'm sure the picture makes it clear so when you yoke someone together you put them together you connect them together you combine them or you put them into a same team you know making them work together that means to yoke together we did not expect to be yoked together in the same project team finally we are yoked together legally a nice way of saying finally we are married york together next up i have to yank out now to yank means to pull something quickly and with a lot of force okay to yank out for example you've got a bunch of papers and you staple them now if you want to remove the stapler pin what you do use the back of the stapler and yank the stapler pin that means to yank out i have to see the dentist to yank out my teeth i was the first to be yanked out of the office as soon as the lockdown was announced here you're trying to say i was the first to be fired yank out next i have is zip over zip over it means to move or go somewhere very quickly or you could say just to make a quick visit somewhere where you going i'm just going to zip over to the shops it won't be long i just zipped over to check on my parents it means to pay a quick visit but if i remove over and add into that zip into it's got a similar meaning but here you're very specific about where you're going let's look at some examples she had just zipped into the market to buy some food so you're very specific she's gone to the market he zipped into the car and left to work so we are very specific he's gone to work he's gone to his office zip into you're more specific about it zone out to zone out now it means to lose concentration or to fall asleep because possibly you're tired or it could also mean to lose consciousness it happens you know sometimes when you're unwell you zone out or you're too drunk you zone out while walking in the mall i zoned out for a moment meaning your vision was blacked out and possibly for a second and you felt a bit giddy i'm sure you must have experienced this let's look at another example when the girls started to gossip i just zoned out i think there's some conversation going on and then suddenly these girls they started gossiping i lost all the focus i lost concentration i took the cough syrup i lay in the bed and i zoned out it generally happens when you take a cough syrup because cough syrups have alcohol and that could make you zone out and here's the last phrasal verb to zoom off to zoom off it means to go somewhere in a hurry as soon as the lockdown was announced everyone zoomed off to buy essentials i'm sure we have seen all these reports on the television let's all zoom out to pune on our bikes zoom off it means to leave somewhere or to go somewhere in a hurry well you don't have to zoom out from this video before telling me in the comments how was this english lesson and which of these english
