hello everyone so today we'll be taking up the daily qu for the date 6th of April 2024 so before we get into the daily quiz there's a very small announcement so that is regarding your national scholarship test that will be conducted on the 7th of April and all the details of it is given in the description box below so now let us get into the first article of the so first question of the day on the based based on this article that was RBI keeps the repo rate on hold in the sense RBI did not change the repo rate so as of now the repo rate is at 6.5% so uh consider the following statement about the repo rate in India it's the rate at which RBI lends money to the Commercial Bank so what do you think is the statement right so it is a rate at which RBI lends the money to the Commercial Bank yes this statement is absolutely right see what is repo rate repo rate means it's a rate at which RBI is going to lend money to the Commercial Bank so what is Commercial Bank Commercial Bank are like say your KRA Bank SBA and so on so forth so Rao rate in the sense say assume that if I am Kendra bank if I want some money to lend to the customers for housing loan or car loan and I don't have money where will I go and borrow I will go and borrow with RBI so it's not that RBI is going to give me money at free of cost RBI will charge some interest so that interest is called as your repo rate so for example if I am KRA bank I want 100 cres of money to lend loan to the to give loan to the customers so what I'll do I'll go and ask RBI for 100 crores and RBI will give me 100 crores but it will charge some rate of interest say currently it is say 6.5% so RBI will charge me 6.5% that is called as your repo rate and if I get the loan at from RB at 6.55 per how much will I charge the customers I will obviously Char say 10 percentage 12 percentage Etc because even kentra bank is not running some charity so KRA bank will also require some profit so KRA bank will charge some extra rate of interest with the customers so that is how your banking system works so it is a rate at which repo uh Reserve Bank lends some money to the commercial commercial Bank okay fine statement two uh a decrease in the repo rate leads to the cheaper credit for the business and individuals say uh when when RB is going to reduce the repo rate will it lead to cheaper credit rate cheaper credit rate means decline in the interest rate which the bank gives to the customers so if RBA is going to reduce the rappo rate will will the bank reduce its rate of interest to the customers yes because say for example if I'm Kendra Bank currently I'm getting loan from RBI at 6.5% and how much will I charge the customers for Bank car loan I will charge 12 percentage hypothetical examples I will charge 12 percentage if RBI is giving me the loan at Say 4.5% by reducing the repo rate what will I do I will also reduce my rate of interest to the customers so again Decline and decrease in the repo rate leads to the cheaper credit rate so statement one is statement two is absolutely right so what about statement three MPC determines the repo rate yeah that's the work of your MPC monetary policy committee that is the work of MPC to determine or say to maintain to change the report rate so again here so statement three is right so the answer has to be C is the answer fine okay so so now we'll go to the next question and the next question is also based on the same article the article says that in India the core inflation is almost controlled but however the food inflation is increasing the article says that the food price remains High food inflation is increasing but however the core inflation has almost stabilized So based on this context we'll be taking up the question which of the following statement is or correct regarding the food inflation in India so statement one food inflation reflects the changes in the food price and and and is a component of headline inflation so this statement has two parts that is food inflation reflects the changes in the food price is it true does the food inflation reflect the changes in the food price that is the meaning of food inflation food inflation what does it do food inflation monitors the changes or fluctuation of food price so that is what your food inflation is and is food inflation is food inflation a component of headline inflation so by the way what is headline inflation or say uh core inflation what is headline inflation core inflation uh headline inflation is also known as overall inflation so headline inflation means it includes it is it's a basket which includes various Commodities see various things like say housing Transportation medical Electronics food uh energy various Commodities would be put in one basket and the changes in the price of these Commodities these Commodities and services would be monitored and that is called as your overall inflation or say headline inflation headline inflation in the sense whatever whatever the inflation that comes in your headline so that's that's why we call it as a headline inflation so that is also known as your overall inflation food inflation is that is your food inflation is a part of your headline inflation because headline inflation accounts every commodity it accounts your food inflation it accounts your energy inflation everything would be accounted there so that is your headline inflation so statement one is right that is food inflation reduces the changes uh reflects the changes in the food price and is a component of headline inflation so what about statement two statement two is that core inflation excludes volatile items like food and fuel from the inflation calculation so what is core inflation core inflation in simple language core inflation means we know what is headline inflation or overall inflation it accounts everything in the economy and monitors the changes in the prices of those Commodities so headline inflation minus the volatile components what are the volatile components your food and fuel are the volatile component in headline if this is your headline inflation in headline inflation if I remove the volatile components so the remaining part this remaining part would be called as your core inflation volatile components are your food and fuel it keeps changing say for example for tomato this month it would be 10 rupes per k next month it can go to 40 rupees and then it can go to 70 rupees and then it can come to 5 rupees or 10 Rupees it keeps changing that is your food and fuel keeps changing that the prices keeps changing so as a reason it is very volatile so when I remove the volatile components from the overall inflation I get core inflation so statement two is also right so what about statement three statement three is that factors such as Supply disruption that is Supply disruption and seasonal variations can contribute to food inflation is it true yes so can can supply side variations can it lead to food inflation yes this statement is absolutely true say for example if you consider this graph over here so let us consider in the market there is 100 kg of tomato that is available and hypothetically we consider it is 10 Rupees per kg so when when when the supply when the supply of tomato is 100 kg uh in the market it would be 10 Rupees per kg say due to some extreme events like say flood drop Etc the supply has declined so if the supply has declined to say 70 rupees per kg what would happen to the prices the 7 70 CES what would happen to the prices the prices will automatically decline see in the y axis sorry in the in the x axis this is your supply side so this is your supply in the y axis this is your price so when the supply so initially if the supply is more and now the supply has declined if the now the supply has declined what happen when the supply is more the price would be P1 when the supply is less the price would be P2 so the supply the price has increased whenever the supply decreases the price will increase so due to supply side disruption the price of food inflation can occur so even statement three is right so the answer has to be d d is the answer fine okay so we'll go to the next question and the next question is regarding one of the most important article from today's newspaper please go through it you it gives you a comprehensive idea regarding how Parliament is holding the government accountable so it's a comprehensive very good article so you kindly go through it so based on this article we'll be taking up the question which of the following statement is or correct regarding the procceedings of Indian Parliament so question number uh that is statement one question hour Member of Parliament can ask question to the ministers about the government policies and actions can can the MPS ask uh questions to the minister regarding the government policies in the question hour can they do it yes that is the reason why question hour is designed in the parliament in question hour the me the MP is the Member of Parliament the MPS can ask the question to the ministers so what are the types of questions that that are present in the question are there are two types of questions one is your starred question and next one is unstarred question so starred question in involves so involves the oral answers from the minister unstar question means the minister has to give the reply in writing so as a reason in a in a in a question hour the MPS can hold the minister accountable the MPS can hold the government accountable so statement one is right that is your question hour so Zero Hour MPS can raise important matters with prior notice during the zero hour is it true can the MPS raise important matters in the zero hour that's why zero hour is designed in a zero hour the MPS can raise any matter any important matter that can be raised in the Parliament that is why zero hour is designed so this part of the statement is right what about this with prior notice if the MPS has to raise some important matters in the parliament so they have they can they raise the matter with prior notice or without prior notice what do you think so MPS can raise the matters without prior notice this MP need not take the permission of the chair chairperson of Lo SAA or rajas saaba he or she can easily raise any important matter in the zero that is why zero hour is Def designed so in Zero Hour the MPS can raise any important matters without the permission without any prior permission so this statement is wrong why it is wrong it says that with prior notice no prior notice is needed in a zero hour so statement two is wrong so what about statement three adment motion ajour motion used to adjourn the house for discussing urgent matters that are needed that need immediate attention is it true adjournment motion us it to adjourn the house for discussing urgent matters that need immediate attention yes that is that is the Crux of your adment Motion in adment motion what happens assume that is a parliament is discussing on some matter say let us assume that the parliament is discussing on uh Western guards and a few MPS feel that the parliament has to discuss on ladak protest issue this MPS will pass a adment motion if this motion is passed now the parliament will stop discussing on in Western guards and the Parliament will start discussing on the ladak issue so that is how your adment motion works again adment motion is used to agend the house what whatever whatever issue that has been discussing it will aent that and then take up any other issue and start discussing the aent matter do so statement three is right statement one is right and statement three is right so the answer has to be c c is the answer fine okay uh question number four question number four is regarding haraa harapan civilization and mainly rakari so uh in in the in the context of rakari harapan civilization which of the following statement are correct so statement one it is one of the largest haran settlements excavated in IND is it true in the context of rakari harapan civilization which one of the following statement are correct statement one it is one of the largest uh harapan settlement excavated in India is it right yes so by by the way where is raki gari uh so raki gari is in harana so and rakari is one of the largest harapan sites that has been excavated in India so statement one is right and again here from upsc perspective haran civilization is one of the most important topic every year almost every year there's a question in prelims so you should know in and out regarding harapan civilization so again here statement one is right because rakari is the largest harapan civilization site excavated in India so statement one is right statement two archaological evidence suggest that the presence of welldeveloped drainage system at rakari this is the current affairs that is the recent uh escavation in rakari led to a discovery of a drainage system that was was there in rakari rakari was a urban center during harapan period and this urban center had a very good reage system so again here statement two is right that is rakari in raki gari archaeological evidences were found for having a very good rainy system so statement two is right what about statement three the indes script has been deciphered entirely based on the findings of rakari IND the script or say harapan Valley Civilization script has been deciphered entirely based on the findings of raki gar is it true no even today we haven't deciphered the harpan valley civilization script it's very complicated the archaeologist are trying we but we are not able to depher the exact script of haran valley civilization so this statement is wrong that is in this script is still not it deciphered it is still not it decipher so statement three is wrong statement 1 and two are right so the answer has to be b b is the answer fine okay we'll take up the next question so the next question is a pyq so consider the following statement so statement one marsupial are not naturally found in India so by the way what is marsupial so what is marsupial again marsupial is an animal that keep that keeps its young ones in its pouch say for example it's kangaroo or say your koala KOA kangaroo so these are the animal that keeps its young ones in its pouch so this are your marsupial so marsupial are not naturally found in India do you see any marsupial in India forget about in India mopal is not found in austral sorry not found in af Africa Asia Europe marsupial are found only in Australia Latin America and some parts in North America so in Asia Africa Europe marsupials are not found are not naturally found so statement one is absolutely right statement two marel can Thrive only in Mountain grasslands with no Predators so what do you think is it right marsup can thrive in a mountain grassland with no Predator isn't this statement very extreme it says that there's no Predator see in in a nature Predator will be there or else marsupial would keep growing in population so there would be some predator on top of it it says that it only thrives in Mountain grassland and Mountain grassland is not a big ecosystem as such so this is the picture a map for Mountain grassland and it is confined in very small region say for example here we do not have Mountain grassland here we do not have Mountain grassland but in those places we find marsupial we find marsupial again here and the statement two is Extreme very extreme it says that marsupial can Thrive only in Mountain Gasland with no Predators it's extreme there would be at least one Predator right that's how nature would survive uh sustain sustain the population of mopal if there are no predator for mopal mopal population would go exponentially high so again here statement two is wrong and statement one is right so the answer has to be c c is the answer fine okay got it fine okay now let us take the fact of the day so fact of the day is born convention so what is born convention so born convention the another name of Bor convention is conservation on migratory species we call it a CMS conservation on migratory species so uh again here this is an inter International Convention or say intergovernmental convention under unep that is United Nation environment program so it's an international treaty under unep so again this is your migratory species so what is migratory species these are the animals that move from one Habitat to the another habitat in the regular pattern in a pattern so that on the the pattern can be on the basis of some biological needs say in terms of search of food or in terms of uh mating Etc so in a regular pattern the animals keeps moving so those animals are called as your migratory species again the frequencies same so again uh to protect these migratory species we have an international convention so that is known as a Bor convention or say CMS and India is a party to to this CMS India is a member of CMS convention on migratory species but what is the agenda or the goal of this CMS again you have to be careful over here the names is that convention on migratory species but the agenda is that we have to protect the migratory species at the same time we have to protect its habitat it is not that we just need to focus on the conservation of migratory species that is that we have to protect the migratory species along with that that we have to protect their habitat how do we do it through International cooperation so that is your CMS CMS says that through International cooperation we need to conserve the migratory species along with migratory species we have to conserve its habitat so this is your born convention and this is the end of say today's class so then thank you guys
