is is oh the lord oh oh oh oh foreign [Music] now um oh uh michelle give us our senses foreign great friends sisters yes in the name of the father the son and the holy spirit the lord be with you to prepare ourselves to celebrate these sacred mysteries let us call to mind our sins i confess to almighty god and to you my brothers and sisters that i have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words in what i have done and what i have failed to do through my fault through my fault through my most grievous fault therefore i ask blessed mary ever virgin all the angels and saints and you my brothers and sisters to pray for me to the lord our god may almighty god have mercy on us forgive us our sins and bring us to everlasting life lord have mercy christ have mercy lord have mercy let us pray grant us so merciful god protection in our weakness that we who keep the memorial of the immaculate mother of god may with the help of her intercession rise up from our iniquities through our lord jesus christ your son who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the holy spirit one god forever and ever a reading from the first book of kings jeroboam left jerusalem and the prophet ahijah the sheila knight met him on the road the two were alone in the area and the prophet was wearing a new cloak elijah took off his new cloak tore it into twelve pieces and said to jeroboam take ten voice the lord be with you a reading from the holy gospel according to mark jesus left the district of tyre and went by way of sudan to the sea of galilee into the district of the decapolis and people brought to him a deaf man who had a speech impediment and begged him to lay his hand on him he took him off by himself away from the crowd he put his finger into the man's ear and spitting touched his tongue then he looked up to heaven and groaned and said to him ephesa that is be open and immediately the man's ears were open his speech impediment was removed and he spoke plainly he ordered them not to tell anyone but the more he ordered them not to the more they proclaimed it they were exceedingly astonished and they said he has done all things well he makes the deaf hear and the mute speak the gospel of the lord praise to you lord jesus christ today we celebrate the feast of our lady of lourdes we've heard of many miracles maybe you will personally experience some yourself you know earlier today um i just threw open social media just for a few minutes and the first thing that caught my eye was a picture of a church i think it was somewhere in illinois and it was two images it was what it used to be and what it is now and what it used to be and i'll say looked a lot like this uh beautifully adorned um very ornate lots of images of saints and angels and just stunning in its beauty the second image is what it looks like now a conference center all of it removed a place where and this was the movement by so many to make the church now a multi-purpose room for many functions why do i bring that up in the context of our lady of the lord and pointing to miracles i think it's because we've passed through a time that people didn't want our faith to be taken too seriously because then as i've been putting it we can manage god instead of god managing us imagine how these people felt when they encountered a supernatural miracle before their eyes imagine how that changed everything for them they could no longer keep god at a manageable distance they could no longer manage god instead allowing god to manage him a lot of people bring water back from lourdes and they pray for miracles and i've seen many and i've heard of many miracles do happen but again we're passing through a time where they wanted to dismiss these superstition now you're you're uh you're an idiot if you believe in such things as miracles and how do i make the connection to the church well once we're in that place where it's just a hall it's a multi-purpose room we're coming we're having lunch with jesus you know then our faith is reduced to a place where we can believe anything we can do anything we can not do many things come to church go to confession attention to and pray with our blessed mother we can do all that and still count ourselves as catholic christians that's what the human spirit wants they want our faith to not be taken seriously unfortunately that's where we're left then if we move in that direction empty void this sunday the one of my favorite readings is coming where it talks about you know first those who are separated from god it's like a barren desert of wasteland it's emptiness it doesn't mean anything but those who are in close to god those who believe in miracles those who believe in such things as supernatural power grace they're beside restful waters the waters that never cease in their lives cool delicious waters that fill us and give us that peace let's pray let's pray to our lady of lords today that all of us may enter more deeply i think it's a lifetime of doing that enter more deeply in our love for god in our dedication to god and our belief in god's supernatural power please stand with confidence in the compassion and love of our god let us offer him our prayers for those who are called to the priesthood of religious vocations may god continue to grant them a spirit of faithfulness and fortitude we pray to the lord lord hear our prayer for those who are ill may god grant them healing and comfort we pray to the lord for the faith community may god's grace empower us in living our baptismal vocation we pray to lord lord hear our prayer for those who have died may god welcome them to the eternal banquet in heaven today's mass is being offered for robert holfelter we pray to the lord lord hear our prayer heavenly father with gratitude we offer our prayers and we ask that you answer them according to your holy will through christ our lord blessed are you lord god of all creation for through your goodness we have received the bread we offer you fruit of the earth and work of human hands it will become for us the bread of life blessed be god forever by the mystery of the sword and william and we come to share christ who humbled himself to share in our humanity blessed are you lord god of all creation for through your goodness we have received the wine we offer you true to the divine work of human hands it will become for us our spiritual drink blessed be god forever cut drops pray my brothers and sisters that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to god the almighty father may the lord accept the sacrifice of my hands for the praise and glory of his name for our good and good of all the lord our god who once established these created things to sustain us in our frailty grant we pray that they may become for us now the sacrament of eternal life through christ our lord the lord be with you lift up your hearts let us give thanks to the lord our god it is truly right and just our duty and our salvation always and everywhere to give you thanks lord holy father almighty and eternal god through christ our lord for out of compassion for the waywardness that is ours he humbled himself was born of the virgin by the pastor of the cross he freed us from unending death and by rising from the dead he gave us life eternal and so with angels and archangels with thrones and dominions with all the hosts and powers of heaven we sing the hymn of your glory as without end we acclaim holy holy holy lord god of hosts heaven and earth are full of your glory hosanna in the highest blessed is he who comes in the name of the lord hosanna in the highest to you therefore most merciful father we make humble prayer and petition through jesus christ your son our lord that you accept and bless these gifts these offerings these holy and unblemished sacrifices which we offer you firstly for your holy catholic church be pleased to grant her peace to guard unite and govern her throughout the whole world together with your servant francis our pope and donald our bishop and all those who holding the truth and the catholic and apostolic faith remember lord your servants and all gathered here whose faith and devotion are known to you for them we offer you this sacrifice of praise but they offered for themselves and all who are dear to them for the redemption of their souls in hope of health and well-being and paying their homage to you the eternal god living and true in communion with those whose memory we venerate especially the glorious of a virgin mary mother of our god and lord jesus christ and blessed joseph her spouse your blessed apostles and martyrs peter and paul andrew james john thomas james philip bartholomew matthew simon and jude linus cletus clement sixtus cornelius cyprian lawrence corsognist john and paul cosmas and damien and all your saints we ask that through their merits and prayers in all things we may be defended by your protecting health therefore lord we pray graciously accept this oblation of our service that of your whole church on order our days in your peace and command that we be delivered from eternal damnation encountered among the flock of those you've chosen be pleased oh god we pray to bless acknowledge and approve this offering in every respect make it spiritual and acceptable so it may become for us the body and blood of your most beloved son our lord jesus christ on the day before he was to suffer he took bread in his holy and venerable hands but with eyes raised to heaven to o god is almighty father giving you thanks he said the blessing broke the bread and gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and eat of it for this is my body which will be given up for you in a similar way when supper his energy took this precious shows in his holy and venerable hands and once more giving you thanks he said the blessing and gave the chalice to his disciples saying take this all of you and drink from it for this is the chalice of my blood the blood of the new and eternal covenant which will be poured out for you and for many for this forgiveness of sins do this in memory of me the mystery of faith save us savior the world for by your cross and resurrection you have set us free therefore o lord as we celebrate the memorial the blessed passion the resurrection from the dead and the glorious ascension into heaven of christ your son our lord we your servants and your holy people offer to your glorious majesty from the gifts that you've given us this pure victim this holy victim this spotless victim the holy bread of eternal life and the chalice of everlasting salvation be pleased to look upon these offerings with a serene and kindly countenance and to accept them as once you are pleased to accept the gifts of your servant abel the just the sacrifice of abraham our father in faith and the offering of your high priest melchizedek a holy sacrifice a spotless victim in humble prayer we ask you almighty god commanded these gifts be borne by the hands of your holy angel to your ultron high in the study of your divine majesty so that all of us who through this participation at the altar receive the most holy body and blood of your son may be filled with every grace and heavenly blessing remember also lord your servants we've gone before us with a sign of faith and rest in the sleep of peace grant them the lord we pray in all who sleep in christ a place of refreshment light and peace to us also yours to us also your servants who those sinners hope in your abundant mercies graciously grant some share and fellowship with your holy apostles and martyrs with john the baptist stephen matthias barnabas ignatius alexander marcelinus peter felicity perpetua agatha lucy agnes cecilia anastasia and all your saints admit as we beseech you into their company not weighing our merits but granting us your pardon through christ our lord through whom you continue to make all these good things o lord you sanctify them fill them with life bless them and bestow them upon us through him and with him and in him o god almighty father in the unity of the holy spirit all glory and honor is yours forever and ever at the savior's command and formed by divine teaching we dare to say our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil deliver us lord we pray from every evil graciously grant peace in our days that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our savior jesus christ for the kingdom the power the glory are yours now and forever lord jesus christ who said your apostles peace i leave you my peace i give you look not on our sins but on the faith of your church and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will who live and reign forever and ever the peace of the lord be with you always lamb of god you
