Cutting the WORST Lawn on Youtube -Start to finish

i didn't think it was possible but this yard actually got worse and then there's this tree right in the middle of his yard and the problem is he told me there's a stump in there but i kind of also know some of you guys want to see if i can mold that tree with this lawnmower i'm guessing so i'm going to go around it and i'm trying to spot that stump in there so the story starts when i was north of the twin cities and i happened to stop at a hustler dealer and they had this 104 inch batwing mower craziest thing i ever seen the wings fold up and down on the sides i started to kind of look over the hustler line and i'm like man these aren't bad mowers i wanted to get my hands on one so long story short this one is a 60 inch and then the other 104 here we go these things this one right here will go 17 miles an hour it's actually got wheelie bars under the on the back i was so grateful there wasn't a big old clunky stump in there that's what i was thinking now i'm smiling because now i get to actually do a wheelie without worrying about it too much last thing i wanted to do was really right down to the top of a stump all right anyway i'm getting ahead of myself let's back it up a little bit [Music] so this more that we're gonna be looking at today guys is called the hustler hyperdrive this one has a 60 inch deck that's my understanding that hustler over built the drive system in the hyper drive line and [Applause] i've got this one to test out and the and both of those have that crazy overbuilt drive system and it's watery smooth and so nice [Music] so since the first time i cut his lawn keith's lawn i have actually stopped by a couple different a couple different occasions to see if he's just check in on him see if he's okay i mean after cutting his lawn the first time i kind of realized the guy lives alone and not under the best of conditions [Applause] all right see that hustler where it says hustler on the mower that is actually a fan shroud so they've got their cooling fan mounted over the motor and so it blows the cool air down over the top of that they use a vanguard engine system on this thing and watch as i pull up right behind me you're gonna see right as i pull up watch here coming right behind me that's actually the city of egan that's the city worker coming in this line is as beautiful as the first time i caught it and probably the only time it's been cut this year was that time actually i know that so let's go see if we can find keith and cut his line again that was here two months ago keith doesn't answer his door i know he's in there i know he's here his truck is here so i know he's inside it's pretty early in the morning and so i know it may seem keith are you in there i know it may seem a little nosy kind of walking around his house looking for him but i know he's in there and i know he doesn't like to answer his door i can't really go knock on his kitchen window that's got to be his kitchen right there there is no way to get up there look at this prickle these prickle bushes i don't know what you guys call them i just call them prickle bushes never like those things but i have or they're like medicinal i think i don't know well if i buy that oh people feed them to pigs yeah one of you guys told me that wooly check it wow that's a pretty one on a prickle woolies today is the first day of fall you guys and to think his yard really hasn't been mowed since today keith are you there keith good morning he won't answer no i'm gonna mow his lawn for him yeah i've had a hard time getting a hold of him hi doggies he doesn't answer his phone okay i'm sorry what's that he's in his house and he doesn't come out he's just he's just a hermit hides in his house yeah did you get hired by his sister no i actually stopped by one day i seen his grass was long i was in the neighborhood i cut his lawn i tested out a lawnmower and i got a brand new one that i'm gonna test out and i'm just gonna go cut his lawn for him yep um you know all that thistle in the back that looks like a tree should be cut down oh it's growing oh it's just a map yep no it's going it's going to be cutting cut for free yeah well you're not with the city no they just drove by though they were scoping out his house i'm like oh i got here just in the nick of time they literally as i pulled up they drove by well oh we found him keith how you doing good morning good morning good morning how are you good there's the man himself what's up mind if i mow your yard again hey good to see you brother all right i got a brand new mower it's not a battery-powered push mower this time i brought one of my commercial mowers out so we're gonna cut it down and it's gonna look good before it's all said and done yeah all right sounds good uh i'll get to i'll start unloading and if there's anything specific you want i can be here for about an hour hour and a half you just gonna mold then or i'm gonna mow it so it looks like a it's gonna look good you're gonna pluck it uh well i didn't actually you know i got a blower i didn't bring a trimmer i didn't i didn't bring a weed eater so let's see how close i can get with this thing does that thing mulch at all or no yeah well it'll mulch when i mow it the second or third time if i have to i'll just hit it again yeah we'll get to make it look good yup i'm doing it all right yup i don't have mulching blades on it would go way better if i had mulching blades on and had it set up to mulch so let's just see how well it does this yard is rougher than a cop and i can't keep my camera on for nothing why why am i smiling so much and then i realized i lost my camera the first of many times i will lose this camera on this job site found it i lost it that fast it was in the grass i don't know why that would fall off so fast but what kind of cast you got huh what kind of cats do you got cats okay i got two cats farm cats there's no pedigrees there's no pedigrees unless you call a farm cat a pedigree [Applause] this grass is a little overwhelming i did not think it was going to be this thick there goes one not only was it tall but i mean thick and wet it had rain just the day before [Music] i know i don't want to blow this into the street so i'm actually trying to i'm trying i'm blowing it into the yard because i figure if i blow it into the street i'm going to be creating a huge mess but at some point i just give up i'm like it's going to go where it goes then i'm going to have to blow it back i'm not going to be able to contain this i can't blow it that way i gotta blow it in i might as well have been cutting hay at this point so yeah i just gave up i let it go in the street i let it go in the driveway because i'm going to come back and clean it up i've got to get it to so it's manageable i don't know why i even bother trying to clean up the street at this point it's just gonna get worse before i can get this job better wait till you see the backyard that's where things get really over the top it's it's wet keith it's wet it's wet it's wet it's wet the yard it rained yesterday this and the grass is clumping a lot more than i like um so i'm i'm actually like mowing it five six times but what's happened is the rains yesterday has laid all the grass down and so i can't get it to lift up to give me that real crisp clean cut that i'm looking for and then with all the wet grass going on top of it so i'm going to keep i'm just going to keep cutting it and re-cutting it hopefully the air will help get it to lift up and give me a better job underneath there and help actually dry it out we'll see how that goes so let's i'm just going to keep going [Music] i'm also trying to not blow it into the neighbor's yard so it's turning out to be more of a challenge than i thought to try to contain all of this grass in their own yard and [Music] hey keith will you come to the back there's a couple of bushes i want to make sure it's okay to take down before i nail them you know what i mean i just want to make sure i'm not taking something out that your great grandpa planted and now i just wiped out because i didn't know better it's always easier to check first but i honestly keith i'm thinking i'm gonna cut this because look at how this is clumping up from all the rain you know i mean i'm thinking i'm gonna have to come back maybe this afternoon i'll let it dry cut it once come back this afternoon let her air dry a little bit today and then just give her another once over just to try to break up the clumps and feather the grass in a little bit more okay so i'm looking at these things up here keith what's your thoughts on on those see that see this big one right here see this thing okay is there like a is there like a stump or something in there i don't want to hit the stump with my mower that green one right here right there used to be an oak there okay so there is a stump how like how long ago are you thinking oh that's that puppy's been down for a long time okay 10 20 years or so 10 20 years or something okay 30 years oh so the stump's gone well should be right unless it was like 18 left 18 inches high yeah i don't see nothing in there but if i accidentally hit the tree in the middle i'm gonna try to clean everything up around the outside of it like this this stuff you know right if i accidentally hit that tree in the middle and make it disappear would that be okay okay well we'll see i don't know if the mower is not really designed to handle a tree but we'll see what will happen with it so i don't know cocktails or whatever cockle bursts yeah those aren't fun dude look at that thing that thing's as tall as you almost what the cockle burr not as tall as the last time i was here though that one [ __ ] over your yard is thicker though dude i was your yard would make the best hay i'm telling you right now if we were out in the farm we'd be bailing this stuff up and feeding it to the cattle really oh god yes this is this is high quality this is good stuff well i i have a farm up north i grew up on a farm so we've we've got horses and cows and i grew up raising them and working on farms and stuff like that and i live just in the cities now which seems a little odd but it is what it is so so is it family up there what oh yeah mom and dad my mom and dad are gone but my aunt and uncle are still up there and cousins and where's that at rutledge minnesota it's a wild west town dude it is it's seriously probably one of the most lawless towns it's crazy it's a crazy a town man this grass is so wet it's just given me a lot of challenge i mean as i look at it right here right now you can just see how wet this is so and your yard is amazingly uneven underneath the grass it's amazingly uneven underneath so like your ground itself is is kind of doing this sort of thing all right guys i want to jump in here because in no way shape or form does hustler actually recommend you use their mower like this i just wanted to see if it could actually tackle stuff like this you know but you're really not supposed to be wheeling mowers into stomps so so i itched so bad after this because every time i'd mow over this stuff and go into the air and then land on my skin and i was just like on fire before i was done with this job so we started i started it in the morning and then i ended up just letting it dry just like i said i was gonna do because it was just too much on this back hill i gave up i gave up trying to keep the sidewalk clear i figure i'm gonna mow it and then i'll clean it after the fact there was really no other option [Music] [Music] it's all caught once keith it's all cut once uh technically i've cut your yard about seven times i'm not joking because i just can't get the clumps to break up but they're wet right so i'm coming back this afternoon i'm gonna leave this here is that okay can i leave you can i leave the mower here till i come back yeah okay so i'll be back uh it'll probably be give me four or five hours i gotta go do a podcast and then a podcast like a radio program thing yeah yeah i gotta go do uh i had to do a couple of those and when i'm done with that i'll give this yard time to dry and i'm gonna come back and hit it again all right we're back i'm thinking the grass hopefully he's had enough time to dry we're gonna give her a second cutting and see how that works let's check out this mower while we're waiting for keith to come out this is the hustler hyperdrive and one of the things about the hyper drive system is it's my understanding is it's really over built and in fact hustler's got like a 3 000 hour guarantee just on that hyperdrive on the entire thing okay i'm gonna jump in here because the warranty is kind of a big deal to me and that this is something that i don't want to get wrong here's what i've i found it has a 3 000 hour warranty on the hydraulic drive system now the mower itself has a 5 year 500 hour warranty on the rest of the mower there i want to make sure i got that right back to the show because it's so overbuilt and these guys use the vanguard system which gives you like that 500 hour oil change type of a scenario with it that's the it's got the extra big oil tank external oil tank and that's where all of the oil sits there a little bit sits in the engine so that as soon as you fire it up it starts circulating it through hey keith how you doing buddy good so i was just explaining to these guys a couple things about this mower leaving the grass sit just for a few hours uh dried it out enough that i could improve the cut quality and reduce some of the clumping on it [Music] [Applause] [Music] wow [Music] [Applause] that's just from one spot so i thought this yard was going to take me an hour to two hours to cut i ended up spending a good share of the day because i had to try to get direct all of this grass to non-critical areas i didn't have a bagger with and so what i wanted to do was not leave it out in the wide open and i figured i would blow it underneath some of the stuff that i knew well wouldn't matter like that dead pine tree look at that bad boy i don't really like holding garter snakes by the very end of the tail but that one was especially mean and was trying to bite me over and over again i don't think it's really good for him to hold him that far back on the tail i'd like to hold him in the middle more but i didn't feel like getting bit by that one so it was what it was this mower goes like 17 miles an hour i'm not joking we'll go down to that camera over there and back real time all right i could have done a wheelie i know you guys wanted to see me maybe some of you guys maybe would like do a wheelie but i wanted to just demonstrate how fast this went and as i go around the turn on the end that's not special effects or sound effects listen that's real watch this watch this look how fast that thing is it really made that sound skidded out it has wheelie bars i called i had a special edition just for me all right so let's walk through and see how we did we got the hill cleaned up boulevard cleaned up sidewalk is blown off trees cut down all the other big stuff dude keith i found the biggest thing second biggest snake garter snake i've ever seen in my life it was like that thick around i saved it because it's a mole eater it's eaten all the mice that are living out here i think it went under that tree really yeah it was thick you knew what it was eating dude it's not going to eat anything but mice when it's that thick around they're gone they're everywhere uh but let's walk through so what i did is i blew everything to the trees as best i can because i don't have a bagger and i know you don't have one so i figure it can create mulch under there it'll decompose you okay with that idea for now not much we can do with it right without a bagger but well i'm going to take these guys on a tour you want to come with me we'll show them the show them the rest of it big old snake huh the big one beautiful absolutely gorgeous there's a biter though def she i think it was a she definitely was a little angry with me for picking her up and hauling her away so so maybe we can find somebody that can help you with your deck at some point keith that'd be nice when that so if you guys are a builder around the twin cities and you want a deck project hit me up in the comments down below we'll see if we can't help keith out with that deck i'd build it for you keith but the last deck i built these guys tore me apart in the comments so they tore me apart i built the deck the way uh frankie and i built them up north you know i mean there's no building codes we know it's good we don't have to worry we know it's gonna last longer than me right but didn't like him no not at all all right so we got the side yard cut we blew grass towards the tree in the front because we just didn't have anywhere to put it i did cut a little bit long on the neighbor's property just because i was i kept blowing it over hey keith if these guys ask why i cut so far over it's because i blew grass down into their yard and i was trying to get it to go back if they say anything to you and i can explain it to them too if i see them okay i just oh wow you guys have hard feelings what do you guys think i think that looks way better well i like long grass but there you go so there is no uh no grass in the street in the back no grass in the street no grass on the sidewalk well thanks for letting me come over and test out the new mower thank you for helping me yeah appreciate it keith much appreciated all right well i'm gonna go grab my mower and load up all right sound like a plan yeah if you get something maybe to help help my deck or
