button but you're gonna find somewhere in the bottom right side of your screen you just hit it and every time we upload a video you're gonna get indirect notification and then you get to watch the cool stuff that we're doing in the store like today's demo she's like where's the camera so what's good about this ruler is you can cut multiple strips with one layout you know does he wanna go to demonstrate because it's got these slots which is off after every half an inch so that you can cut multiple strips sizes as you cut along the length of the family I think a lot of people who have seen this product in the store do not understand what a goldmine of a product this is and it was when we started using it to cut for a block of the month which by the way you see now signups available so if you haven't signed up for the block of the month do it now don't think just to sign up they're like 20 people at least now in the group and they're from all over the world and they're all so excited we do not want you to miss out on that but anyway so coming back to this is I think a lot of people they just pass by the store they look at it they don't understand what it is and they just walk away but this is a huge time-saving when it comes to cutting and we're going to show you how and I say we because sure mala will show you some and you know you're all gonna say something like oh yeah that's cuz she's been quilting for years but you know what if me do I even know how to check out with the normal Road you got I don't I don't even know how to hold it by my own hands okay like it would be a surprise if I'm able to get like two accurate cuts out of this so yeah I'm also gonna do some too so you just know that you know you could be pro or you could be absolute stupid and you can still get fantastic cuts from this so that means you get to save your fabric you don't make any mistakes and you save a lot of time because you'll see how easy it is to place this ruler and you're gonna have an amazing you can drop this and it's should I drop it okay you could drop this and it wouldn't break because it's malleable that's the word okay so we're gonna start showing you some basic shapes and if you enjoyed this video let us know and we're gonna have more stuff like this up on our channel let's go do this so basically the first thing what we need to know is we need to fold our fabric to the width of this ruler now this has got a 12 inch of width so I'm going to fold my fabric it was on Salvage basically it is a fat quarter and I have taken two fat quarters and I have folded it so I have four layers we can do layers yeah we can go up to six layers it's amazing so the first thing we do now is the first thing is the square up so whenever you want to spray it up you have to know that this line is your straight line of course the mat helps but basically this is I'm going to cut at the zero marking which is the first slide and you see how stable this is if I put my rotary cutter in that you can go all the way and then it has cut okay when I want to cut a say one and a half or a two inch card so I will count one two so that's a doing strip let's so let's cut it two inch strip today what about a two inch strip okay after two inch can you come in early and a half so I'm going to card three and a half so from here I'm going to do ad three and a half so two plus three and a half is five and a half so I go straight up to five and then laughs I see you need to be good at basic math for this if you can't add three and a half to church this is just gonna be difficult problem you know you know how you can do it now suppose I can cut to 12 inches right right and then I can just move my fabric a little bit if I'm not very sure about how I have gone so far now I know that suppose I'm not very good in my calculations I can start all over again at zero I see what you do you get the hang of your cuts if I want to cut a two and a half I go run two and a half and just go and then you keep on going now I want to cut another two and a half I go to five another two and a half you go toes seven and a half all right so basically you not at all moved your ruler so far that was my first selvage card which is bad and I have my first it's amazing all at one go and actually I must see what I would have taken three hours to cut my for the first month it walking block of the month now and you please clarify when we were cutting for the block of the month when I was cutting I it it reduced one by two thirds of my cutting time so what I would have taken three hours I just did it in one hour and that was fantastic and you can cut every shape of this if I would so guys we have cut mala has cut two and a half inch strips I'm going to show you how to cross cut it which means that I want to now say for example have two and a half inch squares right so I could do it like this or because I am lazy just gonna stack them just like that okay so it looks pretty straight okay and I'm gonna the first cut so she said we can do six layers so that is one two and three and that's actually a double so that's six layers of fabric so the first thing I'm going to do following my mother's very smart instructions is I'm gonna square it up so I'm just gonna put this line straight on it so it's straight and I'm gonna actually move this go right it's nice to hold a rotary cutter first time in today and then just press down and actually now straightened it so now from here on I just have to count two and a half and I can do this so I'm at zero so you go one two and that's a half so I'm just gonna put this here I just got six doing a half in squares and then I want to cut another two and a half and so I'm at two and a half I just have to add two and a half and that comes to five right and because this is just a demonstration I really don't have a project I'm too excited to see how good I have cut so I'm going to take this out who needs that and look at my beautiful squares and guess what in that 20 seconds I have cut 12 of these squares now you tell me with your current rotary cutting methods how long would you take to cut can you imagine a pattern where they ask you to cut about 96 squares or whatever you'll save so much of time alright but you can do so many other shapes no no man that's gonna show us how we can cut a strip into half square triangles using and nothing but this magic ruler first step is first step is you cut your strip to your required the size of the square and then you make your squares so this is a three and a half inch square so I'm going to first turn my sandwich and then I'm going to cut three and a half you do that and then it's seven okay she's gonna keep doing that I'm not giving commentary now and then I'm going to take this nice smooth cut so line it up with your 45 degrees that's a 45 degrees on your mat it's just to make sure that you know your angles correct so from a 90 degrees you're going to cut through a 45 I don't know if people have noticed this while we're talking about this nice line here all your rotary cutting mats have it have you noticed it all your rulers have all your rulers have it and so does a ship cut so I'm going to now keep my so that's your way I'm just going to zoom this in so you guys can see that there is a 45 degree angle on the shape card which were aligning exactly across the points of the diamond of the square you mirror of this grade I'm just going to keep it so that if there is a slot that's actually running from point to point like there's a straight number seven which is going and I'm just going to put my ruler here now the best part of this shape cutter is because the stability it offers under the under the surface of the ruler and then you get all your triangles without any kind of stress which is fantastic and then go on doing this as much as you want and task is accomplished by one third of the time is what my experiences alright so there are more shapes we can do yes there is a diamond shape which maybe I want to show them this hold on yeah I'm gonna die to show you how you can use the shape cut pro to cut a nice shape that I he was really difficult and tributed to a diamond shape so let me first start off by do you think I can do it mom I'm very sure you can do okay it's a really first start off by cutting a I'm gonna work with a 2-inch shaped diamond and I want to cut it at 60 degrees all right so that's my goal so right now I'm gonna align the fabric straight against the mats just fold it actually make my life easier so I can just cut a longer strip so it's straight and when she placed a ruler on top first step which we all know is once we have aligned the shape cut ruler straight against the mat we're just gonna cut out the edge so I've been told that I'm supposed to to first use this large till to the rotary cutter till it's fitted in then it's easy to cut it that's the best way to do this all right so I've cut that and I'm just gonna cut a two inch strip so that's here sorry I'm I'm at zero so that's one and two okay so we need the rest of this fabric all I need is a two inch strip I'm gonna then take this and I'm gonna align my beautiful strip against the 60 degree mark on the mat it's straight there and I want the slots now to be horizontal with respect to this strip right so just make sure that that doesn't move and I'm gonna place this directly on top of the strip so the entire strip is covered I just want to make sure that the ruler and the mat are straight with respect to each other all right and that's what it is now so no matter what happens now I'll go as slow as I want to just make sure that the slotted ruler stays on this okay so now I'm just gonna cross cut at two inches and then I'm gonna show you my diamonds so I'm gonna just do the first cut at one just to sort of straighten it out and now from here one to two inches I'm going to cut it three at five at seven so keep the rulest rating by taking my time keep it in its in this watch and there we go that's one cut now at five so use this one and then I had seven I can even do nine it's not quite confident now all right what do you think also there two of them so I've done my diamonds I'm gonna further cut this down into another very popular shape I'll just do it and then you can see the big reveal okay so basically I have aligned that two inch time in at sixty degrees like this against the mat I'm placing the ruler exactly on top of it such a way that this lot is sort of exactly at that point and it's also vertically straight and from here I'm going to count one two and one and two I'm going to cut here and here let's see what happens one waiter you got beautiful Higgs again that's like two inch and you know what it's all done by somebody has no idea how to even use a normal rotary cutter easy simple and there's more cutting shapes I'm gonna just hand it back over to mala so another shape which we can cut with this shape cut ruler is bias strips so for that you need a square fabric mine is not really squares I'm folding it up into a square so you know this is a square just that is my extra fabric aligned fold to the bottom line the fold has to be in the bottom they casually and align your zero to the bottom of your edge to the bottom of their fold and start cutting at your desire with and you get a very accurately cut biased so I'm going to cut at two inches so that's my first cut then it's two four six eight ten and two so you see all you have to go and join it and you get your nice trips I'm just loving it oh yeah one ruler and so many shapes I'm so happy let's do a quick recap of what all we've shown you in this video we have used the shape cut ruler by June Taylor and we have cut a variety of shapes we've cut strips cut squares half square triangles diamonds hexagons bias strips and just think about all the time that you can save if you're able to cut multiple layers of these fabrics accurately with the ruler that doesn't break and no pressure on your fingers or anything you can keep your entire weight on that and just keep cutting it's it's a boon I never realized that I was missing on something so super friendly for people who knew patchwork and are afraid of cutting and a huge time-saver for anybody who likes patchwork so you know what it's available on our online store it's available cleaners do it in two pi so hop on board and I think this is a new ruler future in your library may be the only ruler you need anyways so don't forget to Like subscribe and follow
