the hue and I might not always notice it but nature is always in motion from the smallest creatures that flutter by to the largest ones that could seemingly make the ground tremble with every step our world and the living things within it keep progressing to the next level in order to survive as proof of that here are 10 animals that are evolving right before our very eyes amazing number 10 coywolves coywolves are a new species that originates from the eastern part of the United States as you might have guessed from its name these animals are a combination caused by the interbreeding of coyotes and wolves now the reason that this happened may partly be attributed to humans you see as recently as 200 years ago European settlers in North America managed to purge the majority of the wolf population to protect livestock because of this the whole population of wolves was put in danger as such the wolves in the region found a way to thrive by mating with a close relative of their own the coyote the world is now witnessed to a whole new species of canine hunters that are heavier faster and more muscular than their predecessors making it suited for both hunting and open grounds or dense forests number 9 bed bugs bed bugs are some of the most underrated threats in the modern world they are teeny tiny bloodsuckers after all however these insects have the potential to become such a threat that they could aid in the spread of diseases which is why exterminating them is something of a necessity in the world that we're living in there's one problem though bed bugs are no exception to the progress of nature particularly bed bugs found in New York have been found to be 250 times more resistant to the poisons we have in our pesticides over time these bed bugs have started to develop thicker skin and reinforced nerve cells in their body that effectively make them immune to these toxins because of this bed bug extermination has become a sort of war of escalation wherein we humans have to develop more sophisticated poisons to hunt down these little suckers of course that is until they evolve again number 8 tawny owls tawny owls which are found in Finland come in two distinct colors brown and pale gray now the color of their feathers isn't just for show how important it could be when it comes to their survival pale gray tawny owls for example have a better chance of surviving during winters thanks to the camouflage that their coat gives them however global warming over the last 50 years has given the world shorter winters and researchers have noticed that there are fewer and fewer pale gray tawny owls than there are brown owls this is caused by selective form of evolution where the genes for brown feathers are passed on more frequently than the ones for pale gray the shorter winters mean that other seasons get longer and the brown coated owls are better camouflaged by The Woodlands during this time thereby enhancing their chances of being effective hunters evading predators and reproducing number 7 shrimps when it comes to evolution genes that raise the chances of a creature survival tend to stick around or become further enhanced while genes that don't get discarded such is the way of nature now a perfect example of that are shrimps that dwell in deep sea caves of course given the death of their habitats light is unable to reach them that means these crustaceans live in perpetual darkness as such they have started to lose their sense of sight altogether instead relying on enhanced senses of touch and smell to move and hunt in the far reaches of the sea not only that but these creatures have also begun to lose parts of their brain that evolved vision to make up for this the sections of the brain that are in charge of smell and touch are becoming larger in order to boost its effectiveness even more amusing is the fact that researchers found that this has started to happen as recently as a couple of hundred million years ago which is pretty short in the grand scheme of evolution number six peppered moths peppered moths which can be found in Europe and America are one of those species of animals that have evolved because of humanity's disregard for nature you see back before the Industrial Revolution the peppered moth live near trees and woods that were untouched for the most part at this time their color was similar to their habitat a certain shade of grey that camouflaged well with lichen on trees however when the 19th century transitioned into the age of industrialization the smoke and soot from factories changed the landscape and this lichen died out due to this their natural defense mechanism of camouflage became ineffective which made them an easy meal for birds as a response to this shift in their surroundings the darker Moss of the species survived and reproduced whilst the population of lighter ones died off due to predation today about 98% of peppered moths can be seen in this color with the gray ones becoming a rarity number five southeast fence lizard the southeast fence lizard found in the United States was living a pretty uninterrupted existence up until about 70 years ago when fire ants were introduced into their habitat during that time the fire ants preyed on native reptiles which would instinctively remain as still as a statue if they thought they were in grave danger however this gave firing its enough time to sting lizards to death yet some lizards were able to survive this threat by carrying forward into later life a tactical maneuver they used to only do as juveniles these lizards had an ability to twitch stinging ants off their body and then run away instead of staying dormant and being stung to death these twitching lizards are the ones that have survived and managed to thrive furthermore this lizard species now has longer legs compared to their predecessors that allow them to escape from predators quicker number four Hudson River fish tomcod the Hudson River is infamous for being one of the most polluted bodies of water in history especially during 1947 to 1976 for almost three decades general electric's factory had dumped their toxic waste in the Hudson thereby polluting it and harming the creatures living in it at this point you won't be surprised if all the fish that are died off because of this however one species living in the Hudson the tomcod have thrived despite the toxic conditions of the water simply put these fish have become totally immune to the poisons present in the water this happened because of a mutation that occurred in these animals caused by pollution specifically their DNA altered to a points they completely lost the gene that toxin stick to without this the contaminants in the water they live and simply slide off of them making them resistant to it number three Florida green lizards originally Florida green lizards made a home out of the lower branches of trees in the area however these little branched Wohlers were displaced when brown lizards were introduced now at a disadvantage because of the competition posed by these newcomers the Florida green lizards adapted to the city by setting up shop in hire tree branches that way there would be less competition and a higher chance of survival for their kind because of this environmental shift given that tree branches tend to be lighter and thinner the higher they are this species evolved stickier scales wider toe pads and thinner bodies which made them better suited to navigate and hunt prey in the lighter branches of these trees what's more surprising though is the speed with which this evolution took place in a matter of 15 years in about 20 generations the Florida green lizards developed these traits in what researchers dub as a truly astonishing evolutionary pace number two elephants the majestic elephant truly got the short end of the stick considering how much humanity has abused these creatures even more unfortunate is that these intelligent mammals are slaughtered in droves for something that humans can absolutely live without their ivory tusks however mother nature finds a way and thankfully the evolution that these gentle giants are undergoing even to this day allow them to avoid these damn poachers you see elephant populations throughout the world are gradually losing their tusks which means that those ivory hunting noodle brains have fewer of their species to victimize currently experts are researching whether this evolutionary tactic is caused by female elephants deliberately choosing Hustlas mates or whether the population of the species has become reduced to the point that there are just fewer and fewer tust elephants around to mate with in the first place either way let's just hope humanity starts to wise up and end this stupid cruelty against these creatures if you made it this far I'm going to bet you enjoy this video so why not subscribe we upload amazing fact-filled list videos daily also make sure to click that Bell icon to stay updated or you'll regret missing out on some amazing knowledge that could have filled your brain now let's get back to it number 1 cane toad this frog looks kind of dopey doesn't it well wait until you see its final form enter Australia's cane toad originally from Hawaii this breed of amphibians has become one of the greatest pests to land down under has ever seen you see they were originally transported to Australia in order to feed on the beetles that were infesting the subcontinent however the country got more than a bargained for when the cane toads started to spread at an alarming rate throughout Australia currently about a third of the country has become infested with these toads and they're spreading even more as time goes by even worse those toads leading the spread of the species tend to be the ones best adapted for spreading fast which is why the species is growing larger and more active studies have shown that their legs are six percent larger than others of their kind which makes their threat all the more alarming for Australia's native species in agriculture which example did you find the most interesting let
