hi i'm milo and this is teller and this is our tiny home on wheels we call her dottie dottie is a 2013 ford transit connect xlt i bought it about two years ago with a little over 150 000 miles on her this conversion is 100 diy and it includes an expanding bed an office slash workstation an indoor and outdoor kitchen a garage and storage for an e-bike [Music] starting inside with my kitchenette right here this is a butcher block countertop and a seven inch deep sink it's big enough to hold all of my pots and pans which are all very small for my small van the backsplash is not tile it is actually just a sticker this is my magnetic knife rack i've never had knives fall off no matter how bumpy the roads so that's very good this is my water pump button so turn it on so you always know when it's on because it's lit up so you don't ever leave it on and then yeah just works really well um here i have my spice rack uh they're just held on by screws so you just screw them down and use them and then you just screw them back up i have a touch light right here just in case i don't want to use my main lights or i just need a dim light this is my upper cabinet it's on gas struts so it stays up when i open it and this is where i keep all of my dry goods down here i have two cabinets on this side is where i have my gray water stored as well as some paper towels and some tall dry items including some pasta back there and my solo stove on this side is where i keep all my dishes and utensils on the top i opted to use a dish drying rack to store all of my dishes on because i mainly use all the dishes when i'm cooking a meal since i don't have very many so i can just wash them put them on the drying rack let them dry and then just put the whole thing back away down on the bottom i have some storage for tellers dog food some canned goods my bread box and then pushed in the back there is a camp toilet um for emergencies only over here i have my workstation i'm a photographer so i do a lot of photo editing so i have my monitor here a 24-inch monitor on a swivel so i can swivel it out to face outward if i'm working out there on my pull out table or if i'm laying in bed and want to watch something i can angle it to wherever i need here in this storage basket i have my keyboard mouse and track pad which i use for working off my ipad i connect my ipad to the monitor through hdmi and it sits in here when i'm working this is my fold down table and also my polaroid holder this just folds down like here and locks into place and this is where i put my keyboard and mouse or trackpad depending on what i'm doing and this is where i work um this is where i have a lot of storage for notebooks scrapbooks documents crafting supplies pretty much anything that needs a capsule goes in here and i can take this off if i need to and when i'm all done i just store it all away and put this back up here i have my over the cab storage so to access this i just pull this down and i can open this the fold down table actually holds this door shut while i'm driving um up here i have my bedding and there's pillows behind and then i also have my toiletry bag and my packing cubes full of all my clothes and it's a really deep storage so it goes pretty far back there so my bed pulls out into about the size of a twin bed and it's split into two pieces so it can be pulled out into an l shape for a lounge mode or fully extended to make that twin size bed when i'm closed up inside the van and i'm making the bed without any of the doors open it's nice to have it in two pieces so i can pull this side out hop on it and then pull this side out and then rearrange the cushions without having to get outside the van to make the bed i guess i'll do it so this is the bed when it's all made it's about the size of a twin and it's the perfect size for telly and i we stay very cozy and warm in here underneath my bed i have a pull out kitchen which stores my fridge and a lot of my cooking utensils and my camp stove my fridge is on a pull slider that can pull out into the cab if i needed to access it from inside [Music] and then the whole thing pulls out just like this and it's a four foot extension and it's on 500 pound sliders but it's the box is nowhere near that capacity so even with a fully loaded fridge and a full storage box on this side is a storage compartment that you can access through this door in here i keep my camp stove some extra towels my propane my jet boil and fuel for that and then pots and pans and then below that i actually keep my camp shower as well so the stove has its own little compartment here so it's not going anywhere and it just pops out just like this and then i set my propane on the ground and connect it all up and it works great down here i have my iceco go 12 dc compressor fridge it's 12 and a half liters so very very tiny but it stores everything i need it to it's on its own set of sliders so it just pulls out just like this and you can access what's inside when the drawer pulls out i have a coiled extension cable that powers the fridge inside and when it closes back up it the cable coils again and bunches up really neatly near the battery so nothing gets caught on this back door i put in a folding table which comes in handy for cooking outside added a wall on this side even though it blocks off that door because i really wanted to add a garage space to my build and this is my garage this is where i keep all of my tools uh screws miscellaneous small objects in this little storage compartment um small tools extension cables pretty much anything you would find in anybody's garage here is my power strip that is controlled by the switch inside so this is my monitor cable in my garage is also where i store my water so i have two 5 gallon water jugs for fresh water so 10 gallons total and one of them feeds into a water pump and when this one empties i just swap it out for this one and then make sure that always one is filled up at least this is also where all of my electrical gets routed right here so it comes in from the ceiling goes here um goes to the light switches and the plug on the other side and then comes through this conduit all the way down through the cab and to the battery on the other side i have a couple little lights in here as well one under here and one under here um and tucked away back here i have a campfire tripod for cooking over the campfire and then a broom handle and then the broom head is down there i also store some of tilly's towels here because they get really gross so i don't want to keep them in the living space i opted to take out my passenger seat so that i could build a platform for teller to ride co-pilot and it also added a lot of space for storage so underneath teller's two beds i have my window coverings my pop-up shower tent and then underneath this platform is actually where i store an e-bike [Music] [Music] i wanted to close off my cab from my living space to make it even cozier inside but i did still want a way to get from the cab to the back if i needed to so i added in this pocket door so it latches on right here and then basically half of the wall moves out of the way so then teller can jump from the cab to the back during long road trips and if it's raining out we can crawl back very awkwardly down here is where i store my stool for when i'm working on my pullout kitchen this is a campfire grate but it also works to protect the battery here's where you can see the coiled cable that stretches out when the kitchen gets pulled out and then behind that you can see my goal zero yeti 1000 i started with the 400 and that actually did a great job but i needed a bigger inverter this runs off of 100 watts of solar on top and honestly i've never had an issue with it running out i can also charge it off of my 12 volt when i'm driving so it always stays charged it also has a compartment up top where i store a lot of my chargers and anything i need quick access to up top i have 100 watts of solar in a renegy solar panel and then you can also see my vent line exhaust fan i opted for a smaller fan than the max air fan because i wanted to save on ceiling space and also it's just a really small area so i don't think it really needed that much this works really great for when i'm sleeping keeps a lot of airflow going and i can even cook inside for short periods of time running that little fan my interest in van dwelling definitely started out based on financial necessity i needed something that i could immediately move into when i didn't have a lot of money i initially moved in with just an air mattress and a cooler and just began working on my designs of what i wanted it to one day look like and now looking at it i've truly never been so happy or more proud of anything i've ever created one day we will move into something a little bit bigger but for now i love my tiny van i love that it fits into a compact space i love that i can parallel park it um i can go where a lot of those bigger vans can't go and not have to worry about getting stuck or not being able to turn around on tight narrow roads so it really does have its benefits as well as its drawbacks of course because it's very very small but overall i'm really pleased with how it turned out and i just can't wait to see where it takes me thank you so much for watching my van tour if you have any questions about my build please feel free to leave them in a comment below and i'll try to answer it in a future video also
