on the one dialogue because it show them that we asked them a question when we first met them and we've asked this thousands of times that question is specifically from the baba yaga you know the the the old the witch the house with the legs and everything based on like how our arms look and like they're saying like oh we're getting kind of arthritis and then we're getting kind of bony i'm assuming we're an old person i'm not sure if we are literally the mythological figure or for just someone who somehow emulated and kind of become it but that's what we are it seems like it's implied we've been around for a very long time because they say generations now you could you know in um a hundred years let's say we're just old eat through multiple generations but they say thousands like there's been thousands of people from here so maybe we are pretty much a uh not literally ageless but at least a very long-lived kind of being whether we were human at one point or not there was also some slight implications we were controlling the weather uh if you want to take a grounded approach maybe we know this area kind of gets a lot of rain or floods we purposely choose it or you know like i said we purposely cast a spell and like hey you're gonna be stuck here because of the rain um and then there's the whole spiritual aspect with the chompats the the ghosts the hauntings and everything and then the the basement looking unusually big with like an unusually long stairs so there's some weird supernatural elements going on and there were some reveals with the chon pets themselves so i think potato ironically is also another cannibal they're supposed to be like some kind of like parallels there with potato and karen where both of them become cannibals that enjoy what they're doing patel i think was a cannibal originally though because i think they were alluded to the one newspaper article about being in the butcher they put the the people in the umbrella potatoes potatoes recipe that they give you is in fact a uh cannibalistic recipe and then the abyss ending you go out with potato and potatoes kind of like on your shoulder they're saying like yeah you gotta eat them all so it looks like potatoes encounter in the past was like a freddy versus jason kind of thing and potato lost the restless story is kind of explained as you play for it obviously everyone's a kind of famine war refugee come across your place they all have their old individual backstories anything but they don't quite matter in the grand scheme of things but that sums up the tale and that was all i think about seven endings total there might be like maybe a secret or two left you know just like a little easter egg kind of thing but as far as like story goes and everything like that we got everything on a review level um i like you like cooking companions i think it's a pretty solid horror visual novel i do wish there was a bit more gore not like really really overt gore maybe not like corpse party level but something a bit like death mark where there's a bit of a you got a little bit you got you got the gregor scene but i would have liked to seen not in your first run you know so it doesn't spoil anything too much but maybe like on the new game plus or something it would be nice to see like oh this is what you were actually doing not once again not over at least so but just like a quick flash of like oh he was like a little bit of blood here here's a little bit of that tasteful gore tasteful kind of like vague gore just to kind of hit that contrast shock factor value really hard writing wise the dialogue is fine the the characters are fine there is a bit of a fast pacedness because we we kind of pun intended chew for these characters really fast karen gets the most development and karen probably carries the story she's a pretty fun character i do like how she's a bit assertive she's not your typical anime style girl she's got a little bit of like edge and kind of bands going there and kind of sets her as the antagonist in the end the game also could have been a little bit longer maybe about 30 minutes to an hour longer because it does seem like we kind of speed through the the survival starvation arc really fast but maybe that's an intentional writing choice where there's a supernatural aspect that's making them purposely kind of like just really go downhill relatively quickly because of the maybe it's magic i don't know but as an overall solid horvien i am appreciative that it is not a meta horror story despite having some meta easter egg aspects not that you cannot do a good meta horror story because there is still room to actually go and move in that genre the um this is a separate developer but like the pony island dev for example always finds little creative ways to kind of tool that it's just that you have like a higher bar that kind of gets raised every time because that is a a popular genre so the fact that this was just essentially yeah it's just a horror story you know this is stuff that's actually happening et cetera et cetera it's a little bit appreciative but yeah anyway so thank you all for
