The bacon grease saturates the paper bag, preventing it from combusting

Then a bit later...

I have to tell you, that paper bag saturated in bacon grease, ultimate fire starter dude, works awesome!

Eggs are already in handy cookware, and bacon can be draped over fire from the start. Also, why did he cut two pieces of bacon in half, then only use two of the four halves?

the great outdoors a campfire and some good grub I'll make for a combination that can't be beat in fact we're gonna be trying something just a little bit different today I think you guys are really gonna like it so stick around and let's see what's on the menu [Music] hey there guys John here of course and today I'm gonna be showing you guys an old-fashioned campfire cooking trick now we're gonna keep it simple here and cook us up some good old-fashioned bacon with a couple of eggs on the side can't beat that in the outdoors kanya now the twist to this one is we're not going to be using a skillet a grill or anything of that nature what we're gonna be using is a good old fashioned paper bag so if you guys aren't familiar with this trick I think you're really gonna dig this one so as we let our campfire burn down to coals here we'll get this prepped show you how it's done okay so the first thing we're gonna do is take out a couple strips of bacon here and let's go ahead and lay those up we obviously don't have any clean cooking area part of the outdoor experience isn't it we're gonna cut these in half so that they will fit into our bag it's nice a few pieces there now we're gonna take one of these pieces preferably one with a lot of fat on it and go ahead and open up our paper bag here and it crinkly on video isn't it so we're gonna go ahead and get that opened up take one of our pieces of bacon and go ahead and just rub that along the inside of the bag there you're gonna want to coat that with as much of that nice fatty bacon grease as you can go ahead and get up along the sides a little bit too if you can kind of work that bacon smear that nice grease all over the bag all right now that we've got our bag nice and greased up inside we're gonna go ahead and just take these strips and lay them down covering the entire bottom of our sock here okay now if you guys can see down in there we've got a nice layer of bacon covering the bottom of the bag so we're good to go on to the next step here and that of course involves our eggs simply take and crack our eggs up get those down in the bag I'm gonna try not to break the yolks on these ones here and just lay those right on top of the bacon and roll that around in there a little bit and if we can get a shot without messing up pigs you guys can kind of see what we've got going on in there so now pretty simple from here simply take your bag hold it up fold it over a couple times just like so and now we're gonna take a knife when you use a sharp stick if you'd like but we're gonna just simply poke a hole into the paper bag and use a nice green willow stick that we found and sharpened I'm getting into a nice little point just in case we probably could have just shoved that in there but we're just gonna take and work that bag into there and she's ready to go on the fire now as you can see we have our fire burnt down to a nice hot bed of coals here so we'll simply lower our bag directly onto those coals there and let the fire do its magic now is this cooks here I want to take advantage of just a little bit of that time to explain how this principle works it's really simple obviously the bacon grease saturates the paper bag preventing it from combusting bursting into flames and it allows the bacon and the eggs inside to cook to full completion now you are gonna want to allow a good 10 to 15 minutes for the entire meal to be cooked err on the side of caution there depending on the amount of heat output you want to make sure that your food is fully cooked and safe to eat all right guys well dinner is served we've went ahead and removed our bacon egg sack from the coals and actually took the top portion of the bag off and used it to restock our fire and I have to tell you that paper bag saturated and bacon grease ultimate fire starter dude works awesome so anyway let's go ahead and take a look at this I've kind of ridden around a little bit and everything looks definitely done as you can see the egg yolk there and that was on the very top of the bag it is fully cooked through yeah mm-hmm gosh say it tastes absolutely delicious too so now that's done and the bacon is definitely done as well if the eggs are done that's a really good sign that the bacon is definitely done as well because it's sitting closest to the heat so it may not be the crispiest bacon in the world but it's definitely fully cooked ready to eat if you do want to crisp that up a little bit go ahead and drape it over the stick that you used along with your bag to cook this meal and you'll have some nice crispy bacon too if you like it that way so anyway I'm going to go ahead and munch out on this I'm absolutely starving now so before I go I just want to say if you guys have any you know cool campfire cooking tips or tricks or meals that you guys like go ahead and leave a comment down below let me know or better yet attach a video response showing me you know some of the stuff that you guys do for me one of my favorite things is enjoying a good meal in the outdoors like this just the food just tastes so much better I'm sure you guys agree so that's about all I got guys um like I said hey I'm gonna grub out here so until next time just want to say thanks a bunch for all your support it is appreciated very much as always and until next time you guys take the best care and we'll be seeing you soon [Music] you
