Cleopatra Jada Pinkett Smith Edition what can I say guys it was awesome I loved it as you can clearly tell I don't know I I have so many thoughts about this and I'm not gonna get into all of them now I'll just touch up on them now they're all the whole black washing issue you know first of all if you want to do a show about African queens you know that's actually a very good idea if you want to focus on Black African queens there I'm sure there's a myriad of them I would love to find out more about our continent here but to go straight for Cleopatra and just be like what are you talking about she's black and then you start adding [ __ ] like I don't care what they tell you in school my my grandmother was whatever and then you start saying things like she feels and then you start treating Mark Anthony like an absolute more on like a little simp a little you know and then Octavian is this oh you're way shorter than I thought you were and then and then and then and then and then add that with the freaking awful directing the ridiculous acting the music that I'm fairly certain was sampled and stolen from blood diamond and the sets they all look like like it was a recipe for disaster through and through and very few things about this show worked in my opinion look a couple of people told me they actually enjoyed it and here I'm in Tanzania if anyone curious I was talking to people about like you know hey I'm watching this Netflix um Cleopatra you know and people are saying the Cleopatra is black literally everyone's like yeah but she was black I'm like no no but she wasn't though was she no no but like if you think about it she's an African Queen I'm like yeah I mean by definition she was a queen in Africa in Egypt people seem to forget that Rome had a province of Africa before they conquered Egypt like there was a but that's besides the point so I understand the feelings about this I personally I told you his story is civilis and uh my dad also there's a there's a couple of influences who got me into um ancient history I can't remember I can't remember the trigger point but it was about 2016 2050 2016 where I just started reading up a couple of things then by 2018 I found I don't know it took me a while to realize that YouTube I used to just watch YouTube um just watch like key and peel and um uh bad man or college humor that kind of things but then I found out about Kings in general history martial story of civilist and that's like my new thing I look if you look I'm looking at staring at my YouTube screen right now it's literally Battle of gargamela Alexander the Great that kind of stuff I I watch I could watch the same video 85 times so this stuff I just I think war was cool up until gunpowder came into the equation you know then it's like it's just not even fun anymore what are you guys doing go back to the arrows and the strategizing and now in 2023 like you don't want to go to war what you can snipe me from freaking two kilometers away or just like level my whole city what kind of war is that let's see a bag ran war and politics was delicate it was like a dance and um so for the Romans conquering everything and you know sustaining their power for so long I was immediately attracted to that plus you could put parallels with the modern day with like the United States of America kind of vibe which is what I do which is why I'm fascinated by American politics a lot so that's where I committed from this anything you know if HBO drops something on Ancient uh Rome ancient Greek ancient Greece I'll definitely give it a watch and maybe react to it but so I consume this type of content is what I'm trying to say so the fact that I know Netflix makes horrendous documentaries for the most part I haven't had enough Netflix subscription for a long time almost five years now three four now it's been a few years since I've had it I just I found out oh it's on Netflix piratebay dot org there's a tip for you guys so this show is always going to frustrate me and ah John Partridge that's the guy who plays Caesar I thought I recognized them yeah so that's that's sort of where I'm gonna leave it in terms of um trying to sort through what I feel about this it's a bad show to sum it up now is it the worst show ever it might be the worst documentary I've seen like legitimately because nowadays I don't give documentaries and like they drive the acting oh my God I don't give documentaries a time of day too much unless it's peer-reviewed much like movies and shows I go by recommendations I cannot sit through a shitty piece of content I just can't I feel like I've been robbed of my time you know so I'll leave it there for now yeah and then um next episode or next video that I drop I guess I'll be oh snap I'll be talking about all the stuff or try to summarize it in a concise manner and yeah and then we'll move on from there but for now I just want to say thank you so much I hope you guys don't mind that I make appearances at the end of these videos but you know what something like Jada had to do with it but Cleopatra on Netflix box that show the room is the truth that [ __ ] sucks now Michelle and I were talking the other night what's Cleopatra black and she told me that Cleopatra looks like Jada Pinkett Smith have to agree with my wife on that point but anyways uh that's all I
