[Music] all right well obviously the motor is uh severely damaged so i hate that it came to it but we're gonna have to pull it first off we're gonna have to undo everything that we did in part one basically turbo and the manifold can stay we're going to take this flange off here we have the air box to take off this comes off this comes off this hose comes off obviously your battery cables to starter guy come our throttle cable is gonna have to come off we have some fuel lines here that need to come off and i'm gonna leave whatever is fixed to the skid steer is gonna stay on and i'm just gonna disconnect it from the motor so like this will get disconnected and this will get disconnected the rest will stay same thing with the throttle cable i'm going to leave it disconnected here and here leave that to the side on top of that sort of like a motor to a bell housing we have something similar here there's a back plate right here that i guess mounts to the pump so we'll have to get in under the cab over here something i didn't really think about is when we unbolt that backing plate i'm not sure what is going to hold this pump up pretty sure this pump is just kind of bolted to the engine oh look at how clean i would eat on that floor down there look how clean it is yes sir oh yeah poor point all over the place [Music] okay lots of effort here off to a good start if i don't say so myself golly i really tore that one didn't i oh my goodness i must have way over tighten this this is probably gonna pour cooling out as well okay always disconnect the battery before taking stuff apart yes coin temp sensor it's supposed to come off of here somehow uh there's a little wire uh it's a little wire holder in there looks like there we go okay i'm not a mechanic and i don't aspire to be is it normal for this turbo to be that black i mean i know it's a diesel but this thing hardly had much run time on it i wonder if that's normal if you happen to know leave a comment [Music] [Music] looks like we got a little cable over here don't know how we're gonna get that out looks like a maybe an old pressure sensor i believe should just pull straight off it here though yep there she goes we didn't have to undo it looks like we've got some other cables we're gonna have to undo here like this we'll worry about that in a second let's get these fuel lines off of here probably could have done this with an impact but whatever this thing does not want to come off god holy none of these hoses want to come off of here which they haven't been off in several years so [Music] okay should be broke free now everything that i oh i just bent it there we go fuel line number two is off tuck it over there let's say we can go ahead and pull this little throttle cable off here now okay i know there's some wire sundew here there and everywhere else but uh we have three mounts up front we have the one in the front left and right and i'm thinking i'm just gonna undo the big bolt there that holds it to the frame for the shell then over here i think i'm gonna take it completely off the motor down here interestingly enough it's already missing a bolt so i don't know who did that but two here one there and then one down here i'm actually gonna take this mount completely off i'm gonna unbolt it from the shell and then the motor as well because well actually i think the oil pan hangs down lower than the mount does so we might just unbolt it from the shell here i'm gonna guess that i'm probably gonna have to put a pipe on this oh yeah we're gonna put a pipe on it all right something's gonna break gosh golly well i got this thing torqued to a thousand pounds something just broke see what it was please don't tell me it is this oh i don't know what broke something broke was it the ratchet it ain't sounding too healthy i think i just broke the ratchet battery just skipped a tooth yeah i definitely don't sound good i think i'm gonna get that off there unfortunately this is the only metric sockets i have are 3 8 so you have to put an adapter on it when you want to use a half inch and they won't fit in there when you put an adapter on it so i just i managed to wiggle a breaker bar in here oh what happened yes sir [Music] her loose yep this ratchet's done for yep she's done what is this a craftsman should have some lifetime warranty on it right rest in peace little buddy rest in peace [Music] came to the conclusion that i believe there is a bolt head down here that that's going to be really fun to get to it's nothing but mud up there basically i think that i need to hold a bolt head from the bottom here 18 millimeter just like the top or 19 i don't remember what it is yep there's one up there cow that's good it's loose now there it goes come on out of there she is so the front engine mount is disconnected now [Music] is there another one yep there's a dang nut below it it's coming off pretty easily actually there it is so now we have this one over here to disconnect and like i said i believe i'm actually going to disconnect it from the motor oh gosh oh so the uh the whole motor moved when i did that slightly broken free now yeah i can tell the pump moved a little bit yeah so it's broken loose this pump i don't know it's just gonna have to either hang here or maybe maybe what we can do is run a ratchet strap between these hydraulic cylinders here up and under the pump so that it doesn't fall in these hoses right here because this is what i'm mostly concerned about is these little bitty hoses i really don't want to rip those off i'm really not sure how many bolts we have to take off the uh the motor from the pump here but let's see two four six eight i'd say 10 and 12. i want to guess 12. it's how many we got ones that are up under the pump are going to be really interesting to get to we're so we're definitely going to have to support this thing somehow because i don't want to unbolt this thing and have it fall on me so uh goodness if anyone thinks this is a safety hazard speak now gosh that's gonna take forever this is going to be very painful guys number one is out number two number three just barely came out number four back on the top [Applause] five six seven another one at the bottom i have a really long extension i have a ratchet down here just broke one loose so uh i mean we're getting down here we i can't even see him anymore here's one right here i guess that's number eight i believe i'm having to take my finger now and scrape all the mud around the uh the bolt head so that i can get a socket on there i'm gonna have to cram my hand in here somehow hold the socket and see if i can find another bolt to latch on to for this last bottom bolt i'm gonna show you what we got going on we got the impact there two extensions going up dang i don't think you can see it um yeah i don't think you see that but basically we got two extensions running all the way through here to the end i mean it's it's a it's a super i mean this is a really tight fit but [Music] i don't think we got it out i'm not sure oh we may have just wedged it [Music] gosh dang so yeah i think we just got the impact stuck now so i'm on the engine side right now i just absolutely couldn't get to this bolt from the other side socket won't fit in there from either way so uh here we are please beat i can get it with my hand now i have one here and then one down there both a little difficult to get to but uh i think these are the last ones holding the motor to the pump so that one came out pretty easy and the last last one here we'll have to take note this one actually uh it has a giant ground strap that runs to it so we'll have to remember that i've never really pulled a motor before so in the morning i'll have to go get a motor jack and uh i don't know if i'll find one off find one off market place or go to harbor freight or something i disconnected these wires here one two and there was some wires on starter that are disconnected now so i'm just gonna rig this thing up see if i can get it to budge out of here it's up but it's not wanting to break free from the pump back there it's getting close but it's uh not quite there yet [Music] it's breaking free but that's what it's hung up on it's on that shaft in there right now oh oh we just broke your lips broken loose i think oh yeah look at that that chisel helped a little bit so top is broken i don't know about the bottom the issue is we're in gravel here and that's 500 600 pounds at least of weight imagine pushing a shopping cart in gravel but it was 600 pounds and it just doesn't work so what we're gonna do is we're gonna get the tractor hook the tractor up to the hoist and hopefully pull it into the garage [Music] so [Applause] all right it's uh completely disconnected so [Applause] something going wrong was outside that door with the winch and pulled it [Music] and it is out it is out of the skid steer i'm actually going to remove this first this plastic piece in here this is for the pump it's plastic because it's designed to break if the pump walks up or something crazy happens before it mingles your motor you crashed hey no ma'am no man okay not sure how this is supposed to come out now surely this will work there we go here's our flywheel here sophie girl come here good girl oh that hurt there she is [Music] what selfie looks like we got these six bolts to take this off actually there's two up here so eight total um i'm gonna leave the starter on for now no reason i'm taking it off [Music] oh there she goes gosh [Music] looks like we got a crank seal here here's our crank not sure how the crank comes out i guess it comes out the front um let's see okay i've got it on a stand now i think uh we're gonna start taking apart all of the junk that's over here got two filter housings here some kind of pump i believe our injection pump this little box right here is obviously some kind of throttle control once we get all this junk off the side we need to get this stuff off the front then we'll pull the head off i'm most excited to get the head off because i really want to see what it looks like in there now before i get this engine torn all the way down leave a comment right now predicting what you think was a catastrophic failure i personally think that one of these injectors are leaking and it hydro-locked and when it did it probably bent one of the rods that's just my prediction so leave yours in the comments and we'll see who gets it right if i can crack this valve and train the oil there she goes i think it's opened all the way seems kind of slow see what happens if i just unscrew it hey here it goes what are you doing selfie nice [Music] [Applause] [Applause] uh [Music] [Music] so [Music] ah so okay sucker was on there jeez looks like we've got a few lines to disconnect wrong way once again so uh i can get to this one with that oh so this is pretty sure this is a fuel pump so so we'll have to take note these actually have some dead seal around them so hey well it looks like we're actually going to have to take the intake manifold off before we get the injection pump out there's a bolt behind here and i can't even get it with a wrench we're gonna have to take these lines off here pull the intake manifold off and then we'll be able to get to that and this injection pump should pull right out those are super tight well that was kind of surprising there was all kinds of little parts that flew out of here as soon as iron did them um luckily i found them all and put them all back together they're on the table but now we're ready to pull this manifold off then we'll be able to get to this bolt and pull this injection pump out of the little casing here what is that whatever is underneath it this springing it up it's causing it to get in a bond between these two studs here i don't know what's gonna come out not a clue what that does there's like a little button in here and you press it these all move together that is really weird if i can press it and remove it that way nope well that suck came out yep that's definitely was holding it up yeah it looks complicated as heck in there see that little rod pushes in but when you push it in it allows it to get past that little point but then it won't let you get past this point so that little that little pushy rod in there is what's stopping it i think we're gonna move to the front and try to get this cover off of here and maybe the water pump and then maybe we'll be able to get this injection pump out of here i'm definitely gonna need a gear puller never mind i was able to get it off so that's good that's not good [Applause] uh [Music] [Music] all right so the problem right now is we have some kind of arm that goes to the injection pump and hooks on to something in here yeah you see that arm that arm right there needs to be disconnected from the injection pump however i'm not really sure how you're supposed to disconnect it so come on you stupid thing that is really satisfying to play with that's really cool we might be able to pop this out now yep boom there she goes this right here is probably at least a thousand dollars to replace so got to be real careful this right here is that little arm i was having a fight with see all right we're going to begin pulling this head off so first we need to oh that's not gonna work okay there's one bolt holding it in gosh i'm not sure how i got that in there so um [Applause] [Applause] so it threads onto a stud on the inside interesting [Music] there she goes it's all weird it's a really thin valve cover gasket all right so here's our valve train i need to move this out of the way um rocker arm style it actually looks pretty good there's not like a bunch of burnt brown oil in here all these bolts are still pretty clean there's not a bunch of brown baked gunk in here from lack of oil changes to disassemble this later on but for now we're just going to take the cylinder head off which is just a few more bolts shoot actually never mind i'm going to have to take it off now because there's bolts up underneath the rockers dang it [Applause] [Applause] not so sure [Music] come on girl there it goes hey [Applause] okay head should pull right off now all right time to see what the pistons look like [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] all right ignore the water in here that's actually from where i had the injectors pulled out and i left it for like two weeks like that um it doesn't matter this engine is getting rebuilt anyways geez you know what this actually looks like it has sleeves in it i don't think those are sleeves i think that's just where the head gasket was resting on there some reason this says o or d or something like that i wonder why that's there all right i guess we'll tip this motor over and unbolt the oil pan unbolt the crank and the rods see if we can knock any of these suckers out of here like i said i'm wanting to bet it's probably a bent rod but i'm really not sure at this point [Music] oh yeah sense of truth sort of okay so right off the bat nothing looks too terribly noticeable i don't know if you can see it but there does appear to be a little bitty micro crack in the camshaft we'll look that over better when we get it out but it looks a lot like a crack to me as far as everything else goes of course that rust is from the water where i left the injectors out i mean everything looks to be okay not sure why i locked up wait a minute do we have a metal shaving here let's see if i get my hand in there get it oh shaving acquired we have something what is that two cylinder number two that's where i found the little shaving i'll unbolt the rod caps and then we'll try to punch these pistons out the bottom there's a rod bearing i can feel that little gash in the middle of my fingernail it's pretty bad so i'd say she's pretty wore out cap looks fine so i don't think nothing was spinning in there to disconnect the oil pump here gosh dang it that felt good sweet bull pump just pulls right out guess i'll stick these bolts here for now i'm gonna unbolt all of these rods from the piston [Applause] that one don't want to move [Music] we got all our pistons out these two were really hard to remove these two are really easy to remove looks like it looks like the little e symbol actually goes opposite from the exhaust that's the way all of them came out i don't really know what e stands for [Applause] oh that came right out so number two oh hmm that is pretty terrible looking wow see if any of these other ones will come out this one probably will not come on there that one came out number four that's not looking the best either these rod bearings are still in here yeah they don't look they don't look too good these crank bearings are not looking very hot yep uh there's metal in here well i don't think it's a bent rod anymore i think it i don't know i it may have resulted in lack of oil if there's metal all around this bearing here see if i can see that let's see if we can get this thing to turn now there we go okay this crank is gonna have to be turned oh yeah cranks gonna have to be turned for show i don't know if the oil just wasn't changed frequently enough or maybe there's some oil passages that are clogged up somewhere or maybe it's just wore out there we go also not looking too good oh that is really bad here's something else really cool that i found look at that isn't that satisfying this is almost like just an idler because it's not attached to anything oh god look at that sucker's heavy this is the cam lobes to your injection pump here that is really satisfying holy cow oh check that out so the faster this spins eventually i think this pulls out of here why though [Music] look at that i wonder if this is some kind of governor look at that it's not touching oh gosh okay anyways this is the camshaft i do believe yes sir look at that try my best not to bang up the cam lobes there he goes come on nice hmm i think oh yeah it goes gently gentle all right okay finally jeez there it goes sort of jeez that one looks pretty good dang that's like mint condition right there finally came out once again this one also looks pretty good other ones are shocked though should just be able to kind of wiggle it out i'd say dang it the main seal is in the way oh there she goes she's heady [Music] goodness there it goes oh she's headed guys i think i found a catastrophic failure so i'm over here looking at my table at all the stuff i got and i see this gear here and i'm like hmm i remember taking that off because i didn't take it off when i took this casing off here put that arm up there so we don't bend it this just fell out and i figured you know maybe it was on some kind of idler and when i slid this out it just slid off of its little idler and i didn't think anything of it this is broken this is cast aluminum that's been broken off and it looks a lot like an oil pump see if it's perfect kind of like that you can see the rest of the casing is broken off there so yeah we were not getting any oil that's why this thing walked up it had zero lubrication so our oil pump was not pumping any oil it fell out of here somewhere it was sitting i believe like this so it would be with all the other gears you know the three right here and then the crank it would be somewhere in here so when the motor turns this turns i guess it could still be lack of maintenance you know maybe the oil wasn't changed the coin wasn't taken care of and the motor got hot and that cracked who knows but yeah we know exactly what failed now which is good so i started calling around at different uh machine shops i call it about six different machine shops in the area one machine shop i called in union tennessee that said that they could do it all and i think they actually kind of specialize in perkins diesel engines the only thing that sucks is every single machine shop around this area is like four months out not even joking so but he put my name on a list and said he would call me when he is ready to take me in but don't worry i've got plenty of videos on the way so the cat skits here little series is gonna have to stop for at least three months until a machine shop can get me in basically i'm gonna tell you guys everything i'm gonna have done by the machine shop first they're gonna check the heads and the flatness of the block if it's warped at all they'll deck it down i'm gonna let the machine shop decide on the cylinders if they just need to be re-honed or if they need to be bored over with 4 500 hours on this motor i don't see how we're going to go back to stock but i'm not the machinist so i don't know the crankshaft is definitely going to have to be turned because of all of the scoring that's on it on top of that there's also lots of damage on these uh crank crankshaft caps look at that i don't know if you can appreciate the depth but your fingernail will definitely get caught in there that might have to be bored at least 25 30 over but i don't really know i failed all my math classes in high school so i don't know if you guys remember me mentioning a crack in the cam shaft but i looked it over and i don't see one but doesn't mean it's not there i'm going to take this to the machine shop and he's going to look it over both of these cams look perfectly fine and i think i can reuse them i'll probably just polish them up a little bit obviously we're going to need a new oil pump i'm going to get the injectors rebuilt as far as i know the injection pump is operating fine i don't think i'm going to do anything with it our block is also going to get line board which means they basically stick like a horizontal drill in here and they drill it back out to make it a perfect circle again you do that with these caps in here so it's a perfect circle with the caps and the block i have just a few more things left to take off of this block before it goes to the machine shop water pump you know a couple brackets here and there then i'll just have to go with some overboard uh crank bearings i'll probably get these rod caps checked just for the heck of it as well as the rods just to take a quick look at these pistons here the rings are all caked with some black like hardened junk the oil sealing ring on the bottom is popped open but all the top ones on every single other piston are closed shut they're just stuck shut and that can cause an engine to have blow-by and not a lot of compression so just one more thing that was wrong with the motor so he's also going to chemically remove all of the junk in the dirt the paint everything from the block as well as the head as far as the head goes it'll get checked for flatness um the valves will get removed and new valve seals will be put in also the valve seats will get reground and resealed so that'll be good consider subscribing to see a part four where we're gonna rebuild this motor and reinstall it in a skid steer [Music] you
