Comparing the Trangia 25, 27, and 28 Series Cook Sets

guys already here and welcome to the Paleo high CarMD channel the first transient product that I ever purchased was the spirit burner and that was followed very quickly by the 27 - 3 model of their stove kit now I like that cook it so much and I wanted one just a little bit bigger so I ended up buying the 25 - 4 for a little while I looked at the 28 T which is the mini version and I thought I really wouldn't like it or use it very much but I was definitely wrong I ended up picking it up and I really liked it a lot I know that a lot of you out there looking at these different models from cringy and wondering what should I get is one big enough what's different between the different series of cook kits so today we're going to take a look at all three of these I'm going to show you guys the details about each that way if you're looking for one maybe you'll be able to decide which one is best for you thanks for watching [Music] all right so quickly before we start just to give you a size comparison this is the twenty five series which is the biggest one the twenty seven series a little bit smaller and then the smallest one is a twenty eighty this one is definitely different than these other two these are very similar essentially the same just a difference in size let's start by taking a look at the twenty eight T or the Trangia mini so this is the transient twenty eight T or the transient mini as it is commonly called it comes in at a weight of 11 point six ounces and the dimensions are six inches by two and a half inches this is just a little snap fit okay so here are our pieces we have a point eight litre aluminum pot we have a six-inch nonstick fry pan also functions as a lid when you put it upside down like that you get the actual spirit burner with the wind shield and a handle keep all my trains just stored with this plastic on the nonstick I do think that it helps it's a nice thick plastic so keep that on there and I'll help keep your nonstick finish a little bit better way this works is pretty simple you've got your transia spirit burner here on top of this underneath here there's a little rim that little rim fits right on this so it's fairly you know it's obviously not held on there but it's got a nice lip to hold on to once it gets boiled up you can get this grab it very simply set the fry pan can act as a lid it also has a small lip there to hang it on there you go you can grab this off the top if you want to let's say you want to use just a fry pan you can easily pop it right on top there so give you lots of flexibility something to boil water cook in something to fry in very nice single person kit pops back together very easily just put this right in there this compresses when you close it there you go cost is $34 it is a great pretty lightweight kit for one person very versatile because again you get that bowl and the frypan oa- I think is that handle it's not the best handle in the world but it works it's a look at the 28 t if you want to step it up in size a little bit you can go up to the 27 series it's very different than the 28 because of the integrated windscreen and design which I'll show you all in a minute now weighs one pound nine and a half and dimensions are 7.25 inches by four inches so it's quite a bit bigger than the 28 but it's still very compact let me get out the different pieces and show you guys what you get so here's a look at everything that comes in the kit now the actual 27 - 3 does not come with the kettle I already owned the kettle so I could just put it inside of this kit but if you want to make sure you get the one with the kettle you just need to find a different number I'll put it down at the bottom it's 27 - 4 or 5 I don't remember for sure so what this comes with is 2 aluminum sauce pans right here ok they're both 1 litre in size you have a 7 point 2 5 inch nonstick fry pan and also functions as a lid have a pot handle okay which is a much nicer version than the 28 you have this which is the stands for the trains itself the Trangia is usually inside of this yellow bag okay and it fits right in here I'll show you guys here in a second how this all goes together then this is the actual windscreen this is what makes it different than the other one let me set it up and I'll show you guys what I mean so this is the base of the whole system that keeps the spear burner up off the ground you can see that basically fits right there it gives a lot of circulation underneath well you can put it on top of pretty much anything and the heat is not going to come down to the floor or to wherever you're putting it you can put this safely almost anywhere now by the way you can also get this separately available a propane burner you just you just fit the supply line through there and it pops right in there so you can use this with a propane burner as well so most of the time you're going to use your trans just so you would just pop the Trangia on here alright this is the wind screen and it's got these little clips on top it has a little locking mechanism once you pop it in there it becomes one piece and you use these little metal stands for your different things you pop it down and you can put your kettle right in there you can put either of these in there and if you bring them up like this then you can put your fry pan right on top this handle is much better than the other one that is one of the negatives I think of the other smaller version this one works very very well just like that so you end up having a very efficient and fairly lightweight kit this is definitely usable for two people want to take it back apart it's really really simple you just find where that slides apart and put this in to two cups in always keep your transia in this bag that just allows you to not worry about any alcohol or anything like that pops right into your kettle put it on your kettle put this in the bottom just put this across the top now the cost of course is a little bit more expensive this is 60 $2.99 at the time of taping it's a very nice kit for two people it's got excellent wind protection it's got a compact design you have lots of options to choose from we'll talk about that at the end like I said you can use it with the optional gas burner personal if I had to choose to keep just one of these three kits this is the one I'd keep alright well I'll take as much time on the twenty five this is the twenty five five it's the exact same kid as 227 just different size this one is two pounds two ounces and the size is eight and a half inches for the frypan 4.25 remember the other one was 7.5 and four this one is 8.5 and 4.25 you get your frypan just like the other inside you'll find the kettle I keep this one with a little bit of wrapping on it the size of the kettle and this one's nice because it not only keeps the Train just beer burner but you can also put the metal handle of the aluminum handle in there I did want to show you all one difference it comes together and puts together the exact same way but I chose to get this one with a little bit of an upgrade on these pots these are 1.5 liters and 1.75 liters but these happen to be nonstick so it adds something to my kit I think if you're going to have multiple types of these transients getting them a little bit different a good idea you get the two nonstick aluminum sauce pans again 1.5 liters in 1.75 liters eight and a half inch frypan a pot lid the base the windscreen is just a saying the spear burner is the same and again the strap I also had already owned this kettle so when I bought this I did not get it with the kettle if you want one with the kettle make sure you order the one you want the numbers that I'm giving you guys are the ones that I bought because I already had both of the kettle's and there you go the cost of this one is $85 like I said I bought this one with the nonstick saucepans just to give my dear collection a little bit of variety I think this is perfect size for dry baking I have several videos either I've already published or I'm going to be publishing on Drive aching with this particular kit it just works out perfect for that don't forget you can also use it with the optional gas burner and like the 27 series you have lots of options from the standpoint types of metal types of finishes etc yeah I do want to discuss a couple of options you can get with this that I do have already showed y'all quickly but this is actually kind of a knockoff this is made by a company called bulan I bought it for very cheap original Trangia is quite a bit more expensive this has the preheat tube it's going to work with inverted fuel at cold temperatures it works really well I've used it quite a bit it feels well put together I'll see if I can remember hey link to put down below for you guys the other transients s older transient is the Trangia fuel bottle it's really nice this one is a 300 milliliters if they make different sizes all you do is unscrew this and then this is a push top right here so you just put it over the top and you can put your fuel right in there like that and it's a very easy safe way to do it no dripping I definitely recommend this it's a pretty heavy so you don't want to use it an ultra light setting look for around the shop it's where I store my fuel it's really really solid plastic it's not gonna have any problems whatsoever just a cool addition if you're interested that's a quick look at the three sizes of the transient kids that come out there I hope I answer some questions for you guys if you have more questions please feel free to leave them down below I've used all three of these pretty extensively and pretty familiar with them like I mentioned there's lots of different numbers 27 327 525 525 8 all these different numbers all that indicates is different types of materials whether some of them are nonstick you got anodized aluminum you got plain aluminum some of them come with a kettle some do not check out the different types make sure that you know exactly what you're ordering that way you make sure your kid needs your needs the mini is absolutely perfect for a single person day hike type kit the other two you can use either one of them really for one or two people I think the 27 works just fine for two people at 25 obviously just gives more volume but both of them work very well for one or two people I really like using these kits you know their way a little bit more for day hikes they're wonderful I've never taken the mount culture light backpacking because obviously you're really trying to watch your weight but I use them extensively when I go on day hikes car camping whatever it might be I've even taken the 27 with me on trips the time couldn't resist getting the 25 just because it's a little bit bigger and then once I got the 25 I kept looking at the 28 I thought that's too small I'm not gonna use it but I ended up getting it as a present and I absolutely love it I should have bought it a long time ago probably is the one that I will use the most any system that's based around the Trangia spirit burner which is such a tried-and-true alcohol stove is going to work well for you I think the quality control from Trangia is excellent and the customer service is very good as well hope you guys enjoyed the video you have
