welcome back friends as you can see behind me the grass is really green which means that i'm very busy keeping up the lawn so what i'm going to do on today's channel i'm going to show you one of my pieces of lawn care equipment the trimmer so this is a new milwaukee model 2828-21 this is their brushless dedicated line trimmer or string trimmer let me know what you call them down below and then later on the video i'm going to compare it to this one right here this is the milwaukee m18 fuel with the quick lock so this one's not fuel but it is brushless so let's get into this and take a close look [Music] [Applause] [Music] so this is the trimmer we're going to spend the most time on right here the dedicated trimmer there are quite a few similarities to the other one but i'm going to also show you some of the differences so as you can see right here the motor is on the head itself where in this one the motor on the quick lock the motor is in the back so i just want to clarify what the quick lock means is this will run some other attachments like the chainsaw the edger and the hedge trimmer the articulating hedge trimmer so it's about fifty dollars more tool only for this one right here i'll have a link down below if you want to check it out the home depot 179. so the model number that i gave you includes the kit with the high output 6 amp hour battery that's what i recommend going with or something larger but this is a good one so this battery right here is ideal for your routine maintenance but if you get into some heavier stuff then you might want to go with a larger battery even up to the 12 amp hour battery which i'll have a video down below showing you how much work you can get done on a 12 amp hour battery so this was the original setup i had right here and this has the heavy duty 9 amp hour battery now i have had this one overheat on me one time doing some really heavy stuff but i'm noticing that when you get into the high output they tend to run cooler so we'll see over time if this one ever overheats but i'm gonna put it to the test today as well too so they both have the speed feed head so they can run 0.80 or 0.095 line so what i'm going to do is switch this out right here to the thicker stuff this is a 0.80 then if you can see this little cutter right here that right now is set for 16 inches if you want to have this cut and keep the swath at 14 there's two screws you just flip that around on either one of those right there so you can run at 14 or 16. so if you go with this trimmer right here there is a little bit of assembly it didn't take me too long there's a couple screws there a couple over there and some nuts right there lock in place and then i also had to put the guard on right here that just seemed to take a couple minutes so let's take a look at the motor right here so one thing with the battery in the back of this i noticed that it seems to balance out pretty well so even though this is larger it doesn't really seem like you're swinging anything heavy on the end of a stick so you can see how that's a little bit smaller right there then if we get a little bit closer here you can see there are some vents on there so i'd say it's important to make sure that you keep up with your maintenance on here just brush that off if you get that covered just so this thing can breathe a little bit better and then before getting started one thing i highly recommend is having safety glasses on you just never know when something's gonna fling back and hit you in the face all right let's take a look now so you can see how each one sounds and then on both of them there's a switch there's either a turtle or a rabbit so you have a high and a low speed so on the turtle it goes from zero to 4 600 that's pulling the trigger all the way and then to switch over to the other one you do have to let go of the trigger you can't do it on the fly and the top speed with the rabbit 6200 rpm [Applause] and now running the quick lock one you'll hear it sounds a little bit different so as i mentioned the motor is in the back here and not at the head right we're gonna go on the turtle speed scroll the rabbit speed all right so this one definitely has a little bit more of a wine sound to it than the other one i had i have had people comment about that but that is the normal sound that it makes and after using this for i don't know 100 hours it hasn't changed as far as the sound goes so one thing i get asked about quite a bit on this fuel version is if it vibrates so i'm going to lift it off the table so you can just see zoom in right here a little bit so you know there is a little bit of vibration but i'm used to running a gas trimmer quite a bit too so that seems to vibrate even more so than this so there is a little bit but it's something that i really don't even notice i'm always just kind of focused on cutting the grass and trimming it that the vibration which is i would say pretty minimal on this if i had to compare this against a gas trimmer i would say that i'm just kind of used to the engine idling and there being some vibration but it's really to me on the fuel version at least really not an issue at all so you know [Music] there's a little bit but nothing i would say to write home about okay now on the dedicated trimmer right here i'm going to just show you how this one sounds on high speed [Music] what's interesting is the motor is on this end right here but i am feeling a little more vibration on the back here you could actually see the battery kind of vibrate a little bit let me see if you can see this watch so i do notice a little more vibration on this one right here but once again i just want to point out that that issue for me personally isn't really anything that i'm too concerned with because i'm just more concerned on the performance and knocking down the weeds and the grass and getting the lawn looking good so feel free to leave a question down below if you need a little more clarification on that so we're gonna see this put to the test on some routine maintenance stuff and then we're gonna switch out the line and get to some heavy stuff that's way overgrown so [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so i tell you based on my experience the 0.80 line isn't going to be heavy enough for the next project so we're going to take this out and right now the battery out we're gonna switch this and i'm using the .95 black diamond line right here so normally what you do when you run out of line you just align that red line right there with that red line and then you can just feed your new line in which i'll show you in a minute but what i'm going to do is actually take this off just so we can get the other line out so let me just show you how easy the speed feed head is to reload so i'm going to mention if you're just doing your routine weekly maintenance this line right here is going to work well but what i have in 0.95 is this right here so we're going to put that in and to load it as i mentioned just line that up and then you push this through you feed it through sometimes it's a little bit tricky just because it's curved sometimes it's curved like that so just have to you know see you can always try the other end too there see how it goes right through right there or there and then you just pull this until they're even on both sides okay right now they're pretty close to even so you hold this right here with your left hand and the bottom one right there you twist with your right and see how that's just feeding it in and they should end up pretty close the same length when you get it most of the way wound in oops that's a little longer there [Music] you know i'm just noticing right now that it does seem to have a little bit less vibration with this other line right here or the thicker line [Music] so one thing i can say for sure is my neighbors that live on this road are gonna be happy i'm making this video all right so i just want to take a second talking about the variable speed trigger so you can definitely feather things with it if you want i'd say it does respond well seems to get up to speed decently with this battery right here [Music] so we have a fresh eight amp hour high output battery that we're going to use in each one and then in the fuel version right here i decided to switch out the milwaukee trimmer line to the .95 black diamond here's the fuel version first okay now we have the dedicated trimmer going [Music] all right hopefully that gives you a quick idea let's take a look at the cut so this is a fuel version down here and up higher here this is where i started doing the dedicated line trim or the brushless one i'd say they both did a nice job all right i have a tree frog but i'm just going to keep going right through it so i apologize for that noise so after watching this video would you spend 50 more and go with the fuel version with the quick lock so you could buy additional accessories and if you're wondering what the accessories cost i think they range from like around eighty dollars up to like 170. i think the most expensive is the articulating hedge trimmer that's very awesome if you want to know my opinion on it or would you go with the dedicated brushless trimmer right here and which is like i mentioned 50 or less so they both do a good job i think you know there's just some differences between the two so one of the main things is whether or not you need to have other attachments or if you want to have that option to be able to do that or not so if you have any questions about these trimmers let me know down below i'll be happy to answer them and my goal this video is to put these to the test so you can see if which one is right for you in case you're considering the purchase of them and if you find this video to be helpful interesting and informative please give it a thumbs up and help support my channel that's it friends thanks for watching see you next time [Music] you
