Milwaukee Tool M18 Brushless String Trimmer 1-Year Update Model 2828-20

April of 2021 we released a video on the Milwaukee 28 28-20 brushless string trimmer this was a big deal to me at that point in time because of the trigger which was the best trigger that I've had on the market on a brush string trimer because it was very similar to gas I mean you just zip that trigger and this motor at the end just follows it precisely I absolutely love that it's been a year later and I've used this weekly since then let's go over what I like and what I [Applause] dislike before we get too deep in this I think it's important to note that I don't use this in a homeowner setting this sits in my commercial trailer when I go to a commercial property I use it there very similar still going around trees signs driveway stuff curbs things like that but I use it in a little different manner I have two properties that we take care of and I have ditched the 6 amp hour battery and I only use the8 amp hour battery because between the two properties I can use up most of the 8 Amp Hour battery come back and charge it with the 6 amp hour battery I was getting about 30 minutes in with the 8 Amp Hour battery I'm running closer to 40 so if I have a really long day out there I will deplete the whole thing if I have a short day trimming I'll maybe use half I see no power difference between the eight and the six and I didn't jump to the 12 because of weight as I talked before it's a nice balance with the 6 amp hour on the end and even when you switch to the 8 Amp Hour battery it gets slightly heavier but it's still balanced in the right direction whereas if you put the 12 on here it starts to do this the main reason I am still using this string trimmer is solely because of the trigger I absolutely love it and I stand by it that trigger is perfect it is very similar to a quality Gas machine if you hit that trigger this motor on the end is spinning that line and it may not bring it up you know instantly but it is close I absolutely love that the biggest downside that I see to this after one year of use is the vibrations they're getting a little bit worse so the more I use this the more I feel those vibrations between 4,000 RPMs and 60 200 and while I use this in high all the time I never use low which is 0 to 4,000 RPMs when I have to get into thick grass like I'm showing you right now I have to keep that trigger just buried and I'm feeling a lot of vibrations in my hand so after 20 minutes of use my hand comes off this if I'm not wearing a glove and it's tingly I totally dislike the vibrations that I'm getting out of this but I have to say this is a quality trimmer and everything else that works in it works better than what most other brands do so I like it and use it more but I totally dislike those vibrations we called out those vibrations in our first video and they weren't quite as bad as they are now you could see the head movement in the vibration when you were at Full Throttle in the first video when this was brand new and at this point in time it's at least doubled although it's really hard for it to catch on camera because of how fast it's moving but I can tell you wear gloves if you're going to use this a good pair of leather gloves helps take care of that issue with that said I think this is still probably one of the best ones out on the market and that includes the 60 volts and even going upwards because it's lightweight it's a little bit longer it has all the power I need it has a lot of the runtime I need and it's easy to move around I still use it even with those vibrations because of it now other people have commented on our other video saying it doesn't have the same amount of power as some of the other ones and it might be light now in this situation I want to go out and just run this like someone would out a farm Tall Grass lots of crap to go through and I will agree with you in that situation where you're running through a lot of Tall Grass this does not have the power needed to continue or even compare with some of the lower-end gas machines on the market it simply didn't throw that grass far enough away it would wrap itself around and you'd have to pull it out I felt like the power would decrease the more things would wrap around it and then eventually you had to stop and pull everything out start over again but under normal circumstances or even moderate to heavy use this has plenty of power to get through just about anything you want including ditch Banks including longer grass including anything that is just not very tall and stringy if it's tall and stringy it doesn't have the power to push it away far enough it'll suck it back in and wrap it around that's the only downside to this unit and you'll find that with most battery operated units his gas ones will run 9,000 to 11,000 RPMs battery runs 4 to 7,000 it's just slower so it doesn't have the power either way I want to give you guys what I felt like this unit did to us or did for us in a year I still love it I still love everything about it although the vibrations are getting worse and I hope that they tone back a little bit now I have switched initially from that first video and continued to use steel line on the end I don't like the line that came with it it wasn't good the steel line rocks I don't think that's contributed to the vibrations but at the same point it's something that I am doing differently than maybe some others totally would like to hear anyone else's comments if you have this machine do you have the same vibration I have help anybody else so go down read the comments
