we open an antique store but it had to be family friend where we could work and still have fun sometimes you have to climb a mountain or open some new doors to find the treasures inside this is our life this is our adventure this is curiosity hey good morning everybody so on today's episode we are off to a scrap yard it is winter time but that's not gonna stop me I'm gonna go and grab my friend Kelly and we're gonna go head out to the scrap yard and see what he has the guy runs a company called Perry's projects and all these cars are gonna be for sale so I will put a link to his website and his information at the end of the video as well so stay tuned for that but first I have to head to the store and pick up a pretty rare oil can that this fella might be interested in trading for something for so who knows what I'll end up with but we got to go to the store to get that can so off we go so the can I had to stop and pick up at the store was one that you just don't see very often and if you are an oil and gas collector you're into vintage oil cans you'll know that this is a very rare can this is a prairie city's Buffalo motor oil can this company was based out of Winnipeg Manitoba they're highly sought-after they're very rare they've been out of business for over 70 years they have this fantastic Buffalo and plains image on it so very very rare can and surprisingly even well this one's actually not in too bad a condition as you can see it's not too bad at all this can is worth take a wild guess it's worth about $1,500 so we're gonna see if we can do a little bit of trading a little bit of swapping and maybe end up with something else for the shop so yeah if you have if you have one of these oil cans sitting around in your garage or your shed maybe put it aside because anything with Buffalo red Indian and Arco in Canada anyway they're really rare and I know these are desirable down in the United States as well I mean it's just a great North American scene great North American oil can so we're gonna take this can with us we're gonna put it in a brown bag it just doesn't get all chipped or dented on the way out there and we're gonna see what Ivan has and see maybe we can do some training so and it goes and off we go so we are on the highway and I taken the passenger seat look no hands as my friend Kelly over there is driving we decided to take his truck that way if we find anything kind of bigger than we need to throw in the back we'll have it back there with us so we're just a few minutes away from Ivan's place so I've never been out here before so we're gonna go and see what there is I'd be one of the top ten in the Edmonton area so when you have normal houses in an acreage subdivision and then your neighbor builds this I mean good on him for having a house like the size of an apartment building but it's kind of strange when your neighbors just have you know like a normal kind of house man that's a big place and what a heartfelt fact yeah I guess you never know who your neighbors are gonna be and we're here we're just kind of pulling up his driveway so far don't see much for old cars yet but I'm getting the sense if this is gonna be the place yeah there we go some old cars and signs and all kinds of stuff so yeah old wagons so we're gonna pop up and say hi to Ivan and go for a little tour yeah I see that there's the lean-to outhouse I guess we have to go there's there's options it's normal it's not straight yeah when you're yeah it looks like it's leaning now until you actually have to use it so we're just gonna head up and meet Ivan up at his shop and then he's gonna give us a bit of a tour so lots of cool stuff to see so this is your place hey Ivan pretty nice bit of business nice bit of landscape here so what got you into old cars oh this is just like anybody else about a 58 Ford when I was about 17 years old had to work on it almost every second day to keep her go on and don't guys ever since Wow so you've got some nice property here so have you been selling old cars for a little while now or well what a great hobby so we're gonna have a look around and see some of the cool stuff you got sounds good all right so you'll saw everything from cabs and parts to complete cars right so this this Ford Cab you said you're selling this or sold this one already so how do they get something like this it's on pallets I guess I just send a truck and he bought three vehicles off me I'll just load him up I got his kids here and okay well the Pathfinder looks not too bad what's the story on this one have you tried to start it no if the motor turns over at the guy said I ran I just haven't had time to get it running but I sold it to a guy in Victoria he was here picking up a car for another guy and he ended up seeing it and it's you know it the body is incredibly good on it well as to be expected and this yellow ones gone here too as one of my first cars was a 62 Buick that's what I had in high school well that's my was a four-door I wasn't as hot as that I recognized the old Pontiac here 55 Pontiac sorry chief it's actually a pretty decent parent needs some floor work but the trunk is solid motor tranny everything's in it is pretty complete there's here Aaron the tires still yeah and you're asking 55 55 on that one yet no nice car what's the 38 Dodge coupe yeah and body looks pretty complete and solid so what's the story on this one well it's actually a 37 coupe body and 3500 okay and body looks pretty solid on this guy they sold truck sitting there yeah that's a 37 Fargo actually hired truck for fine Canadian Fargo yeah you don't see a lot of Fargo's and people watching down in the states yes no yeah Canadian Dodge yeah what did it say on the door that's a great-looking door actually but I like sign saying it Fargo oh yeah Fargo had really cool hood ornaments and stuff too they had really Art Deco 3 these old photos okay what's sitting over there and he said before okay Dan looks pretty solid looks like somebody started to strip the paint on it to do with em but he landed in the rear fenders and stuff years and years ago are they do a little bit of a rod but good solid floor and trunk image like nice solid good project so what do you look for when you're looking for a project to buy it's gotta be two door four doors from the air parts cars and okay two doors two doors solid-body 55 Pontiac two-door post oh I know a lot of guys are into these 152 door posts what was the car in American Graffiti was that a 55 so basically somebody could take a car like this in turn into the American Graffiti car it's kind of hard to find the 150 two-door sedans because they didn't have the chrome I got a four-door I just bought so I got a nice front flip you had a clip for it yeah so would you be selling a car like this over there about probably fifty five hundred with the clip or front with the front clips okay make it complete okay in the Pontiac the Pontiac okay well these are real cars you can buy folks so if you want something a little bit different than the the Chevy you've got a choice of a Pontiac here but if you want to make yourself American Graffiti ride you go this guy right here see ten chefs sixty-four it's a factory v8 two automatic truck which is pretty rare to find and it's a custom cab original paints it's uh it needs everything but it's definitely buildable Oh guys do Bill know there's an old nice old old sitting there 53 55 while I was off by two years and that's the power window power seat car it's a wicked shape nothing yeah the body looks pretty good I got a guy in Vancouver that gave me a deposit honor question you know all in all this car is not too bad can I open the door all right yeah look at the floors that's uh that's all solid power brakes and power windows hubcaps in the backseat they've got the fender so totally complete so what's the car like this one selling for 5,500 and that's Canadian so you have to do the conversion it here and there to see what what that works out to your local currency but that car you could do a rat rod really easy with that get that on the road and do the body later or don't do it at all this is a 55 Chevy truck and it's a factory it's a six dollar automatic truck factory automatic factory automatic in a truck that was unusual five first series they halfway through the year they went to the other body styles so this is a 55 first series it's sold also to the same guy in Ontario yeah another 62 GMC little six-cylinder but it's a steps step side short box desirable truck decent little project you try to get it going I haven't no well actually I tried it the motor seized on its sole okay I could probably free it ups probably dry cease from sitting that body's not too bad it's not bad the interior looks pretty good yeah any tears great don't know doesn't the cab up top is nice and solid so what's the price on this guy that one there I think I got it at I think 3,500 that seems very fair I mean there's the body looks good and I'll do a little walk-around of this truck and what makes this unique is it it's a short box and it's a stepside and most of these trucks of the wood is completely rotted out this actually still has some wood in the back of it to the interior I'll say standing next to this truck it looks like you could almost start it up and drive it away it looks pretty good there you got a little bit of muscle going on here that's a 71 Chevelle that sold that one's gone ooh nice super 88 4-door hardtop station wagon and I got four of them actually really that's a rare very rare hard to find I got two super 88 and to 88 all four-door hardtops yes awakens and back at this time look they thought they needed to put Chrome on everything and everywhere like that fenders not complete unless we put another you know a little emblem on top a little airplane put airplanes all over it there's another HARDtalk wagon there see the way you tell a super 88 from an 88 super 88 has the chrome ribs on the roof okay yeah an 88 doesn't have it on the roof is that so you could strap your luggage or Christmas tree or whatever game with a luggage rack and stuff too you could put on there in great-looking car that's a 57 old super 88 two-door hardtop again the body doesn't look terrible on that one I won $8,500 so kind of not real person to supplement this 55 Chevy it's a Bel Air two-door hardtop I just took a deposit on it today okay 75 well it's the two-door hardtops or bel-air hardtop and you'll even get into boats too I guess that's another 57 Walt needs a little bit more TLC than the other ones 61 Ford truck I just bought that for a friend of mine is restoring it here well it looks like it's from the shiny fan blade on the front looks like it's had some work done to the idea they put a newer engine that no three okay but rust free that's important so I see you got coke button hanging out there royal light s oh yeah a little Vespa so you do enough like a little town here there's a little vendo 66 so I had an 83 actually I have Kelly's got my 83 now the drums always visit these I like your Orange Crush sign it's got crushing right on it too you can always tell the older Orange Crush signs have the little little crushy guys so that was their logo back in what the 20s and 30s I don't think they used in Pat much past the 40s that's an old sign no yeah is it okay to walk inside your little building here oh yeah you've got all kinds of cool stuff in here yeah I love how you gotta lay it out and you're even putting stuff on the ceiling too oh that's all right I can see if I get cold out here I can warm my hands up on the little fire horse 'ln license plates and mold motorcycle and commercial vehicle plates lots of tobacco tins you know a lot of guys like them like that now I need like that I just it's a lot better price point to get into them when they look kind of rough - oh you got a couple full racks here all right well let's head out and continue on the tour it's old pumps yeah it is tall yeah oh yeah you got some stuff going on in here hey messes are good well you know just a few carbs sitting on the ground here Wow oh yeah you got all kinds of neat stuff yeah red head buckets it's out of the wall up there that we're looking at that red head bucket on the upper left is fairly rare earlier ones have the red head kid on it that one does the white rose cans good Spitfire motor oil that's a good can red Indian I like your Chevy olds clock too that's really neat that's a great clock and yeah sometimes people would convert cans like this you can kind of see what they did is they added a funnel to these old oil cans so you guys use it later on it's really creative well you got a couple for meet the shop I think right whiterose good one you got quite a few interesting cans up there oh yeah there are parts and pieces and cool stuff pretty much just everywhere try to see what type what station that was maybe be a one-time or some green and red on it another pump just hanging out here a shell of a 34 Plymouth potential rod material bumpers off of Oldsmobiles it looks like yeah well what every time you see a barn like this you just have to wonder what's inside of it especially it's got so much good stuff piled up all around it hoods and signs what was this property used for before it's just a regular farm or should we go have a look inside let's have a peek inside so I'm ducking a little bit so my head is like here in the walkway to get in here is about there so I'm not gonna lean on anything or touch anything but we're gonna just kind of have a poke around so nice old wooden grad doors lots of fenders tobacco tins and boxes little shell sign service station sign maybe not that old but she'll nonetheless see some motorcycle tanks over there yeah like what you're the Harley tanks over there okay I got to come around have a look at those work my way around they took the cool Passover I took the path with garage door they took the path with harley-davidson motorcycle tanks I think I'm gonna go to this side pinstriping on that one some rims well that doesn't mean they're not fixable yeah these are all vintage harley-davidson tanks so what we're doing is trying to see if we have complete set anywhere here if we do see if I can pick one up how's it going Kelly you think any of a match yeah this is a Harley Davidson wheel and that's another one right there just have the spokes in it he said this whole this whole box is all vintage motorcycle stuff his head's oh it looks like he was building a chopper he's got the king and queen seat there's a swing arm off an oil pan head down there oh yeah there's the the center and spokes out of there another Oldsmobile two-door hardtop pretty funky paint scheme that purple on blue would have been a bit of a hot rod well it's a nice piece of land six acres six acres of cool rusty V gold and it's actually not a bad day out today - that one's a 58 Buick yeah it's got the toothy grille I had a 58 two-door hardtop and forever I was trying to find the center emblem for the griller or for the hood I finally found one out a guy's field we had a car sitting there 37 Dodge yeah Oh military oil tank water Wow look at all this stuff so what do we have going on over on this side 56 Chevy two-door sedan here 34 Plymouth yeah 56 yeah 56 Chevy two-door post if somebody started to work on and then gave up on yeah it's missing its frame frame hey I've had it one piece California frame I sold it to it so you're not opposed to selling just parts off of cars to or what's this guy here 33 dodge 33 that still has the engine in the yeah I'm gonna go ahead and say that you might need to get the rings done in this one rare car though nice old farmtruck so what would you say the rarest car you have out here is yeah that's lots of two-door hardtops Leigh Leigh you said these specializes in two doors or I don't see a lot of convertibles I see a lot of two-door hardtops and the odd muscle car thrown in for good measure that's about a 62 view occur 8 there 61 ok that's basically what I had in high school was one of those we're going to many house parties and sitting on the trunk of my car not caring whether I dented it or not mind you two built so well you really don't really dent these things easy oh yeah well there's a convertible right there breezy an and then a parts car via the by the pair and make one convertible see the back end off chevy merc I don't know why I always like wagons you know it hardly anybody really likes wagons I like wagons maybe because I have three kids maybe it's because I haul stuff around but they're really practical you don't seem on the road that often yeah you sure got stuff oh yeah yeah a lot more attention to detail in these old cars and what you get in the new ones so as we're driving down the road and I'm trying to think of something more modern to to use as a daily driver that everything is just so boring out there now all the cars look alike and even in the state these cars are in here you tell they had style they had class that's why they're so cool got the little log cabin going on oh yeah it's nice and cozy in here would you hunt in trap as well it's an early decoy that's one of those rare flat bears I've heard about because wiggle their way through anything is there oh the pelt yeah he's almost personal yeah what I'm gonna like kill bird that probably Pelt would have been worse than good money back fur trading days and you got a bear cop yeah those especially bear traps the big ones wouldn't want to accidentally leave that open be like a horrifying Bugs Bunny episode and if you're in a warmer climate and watching this you probably don't see these close to 100 year old dog sled he's just got it leaned up against the wall you were trying it out no hooked up your little dog that's like you know for big dogs or 400 little your keys or something and you got lots of they look like rocks but these aren't rocks this is petrified wood into rocks about 30 million years for wood to turn into rock is about how old little pieces rocker so where on earth do you find so much petrified look see we're dug up by the by the McCloud River up by Edison well well you know our climate changes so much you know Winnipeg used to be a lake we used to be subtropical this used well yeah it was ancient forests it's hard to think at one point that this was tropical so just a ton of stuff all around you know everything from collectibles vintage signs and gas pumps fossilized trees who knew so really really cool place to come and visit we're gonna talk to Ivan a little bit about a couple of his daily drivers so let's walk over and have a look okay so tell me about your your old Plymouth here what's the story on this guy they didn't have suicide doors the roof was quite a bit higher than halfway through the year they chopped it at the factory for inches so that's a factory roots on a sturdy roof on it looks like a rod this car has never been touched this is original 100% all steel car and it was all original what I bought it and like I said they only made a three window suicide door coupe for half a year so now looks like you've done a little bit of performance mods on it's got a 350 for Hemi in it and it's got a Mustang two front end Ford nine-inch so it's had some modifications done but as far as the body it is of the whole steel original car go looks great you got a black primer it looks my breimer yeah and then that's just surprising to me that that roof line is factory it is that's a factory roof a lot of people think it's job but that is not chopped that's the way they came from factory no it looks great and the nice thing about the Plymouth and dodges there was no wood in them they were all steel you know steel structure you have to worry about rot like you know yeah suicide door very cool yeah what's the other car we got going on here it's a 58 Pontiac Frisian and it's a factory 348 first year for the big-block Chevy you know big box heavy engine but the Frisian was a Canadian built car so it was built on same frame as a 50 in Apollo so it shared the same frame and suspension so these two are your keepers I can see why and did you do the painted
