think I see a headlight you see a vehicle how appropriate walk up to a hangar expecting to find a car we find an airplane butchy and a car Wow I'm Tom Cotter the first car I found there was 12 years old I'm 61 years old now I'm still finding cars and in this series you'll see that there are still plenty of cars left but it's the car next to it that I'm interested in so this is where the Duesenberg is hidden we're on our way to meet a guy named Jerry Turner Turner's Auto Wrecking in Fresno California so we got on the website and turns Auto Wrecking is quite a place 70 acres of cars and the website says from 1928 to current and my goodness there's just cars upon cars um across thousands of cars and their sheds and what we're interested in is seeing what might be inside those sheds not exposed to the elements but there might be some real gems inside those sheds so maybe we'll find some actual barn finds today so where where should we start well if you just want to wander just pass the gray house you can just park right there place to park okay wander through there and then come back and just wander out this way okay need all right we're gonna wander around we'll come back and see you later Jerry thank you so much beautiful car thank you you and you're a real nice guy for letting us do this thank you I'm sure there was a Duesenberg Ajmer recent leaders this is a 65 Ford Galaxie 500 it has a 350 cubic inch which is the smaller of the Y block series engines but this has 30,000 miles this is a 30,000 mile car and if you look all the typical places of rust nice clean metal with 30,000 miles I think the Haggerty guide says it's probably worth $9,000 in in fair condition $15,000 in good condition and if it was concours condition in at low 20 so that would be one of the cheapest ways to get into a mid-60s classic car and this is a desirable model no pillar two-door hardtop that's a nice car it says you can't fix stupid I don't know if you can't fix this car though another California car look at it so this is a you know we've seen a real uptick in the interest in wagons I don't know if you'd sell this car but what I mean would just be cool to clean up drop down to we obviously need a paint job because match drop it down on some cool wheels and tires it'd be a pretty cool car and very rare I mean I can't remember the last time I saw a nose of you agonizes look at a lunch yeah so a semi exotic car we're just saying they're lien sale tips $100 and I don't know what you do with it what we're seeing here is a lot of cars that have been stripped of parts but still have pretty good parts left on them I think I see a headlight you see anything oh wow an old Buick look at that it's a touring car which means it's a convertible Wow look at this baby whoa so it's a huge convertible so this is the convertible top folder down way back here so this car is gonna be close to 20 feet long this is a really cool barn-find it's a late model t so 26 27 28 was the first year of the Model A so this is the closest Model T to a Model A in fact a lot of the development parts were we're the same from the T to the a but this is a Roche to pick up so this is a rare desirable truck it looks to be unrestored or maybe it was restore 50 years ago who knows but it's a roadster which means you could fold the top down and the windshield had separate post you could open the windshield to get the air flowing through but it was also a pickup truck very very rare whoa look what we have here that's a Flanders made in Detroit Michigan now look at this this is cool that's the windshield so we keep the bugs out of the driver's eyes that is very cool it looks like it's made of a brass sometimes speedsters like this used a left front fender on the right rear and vice versa but these fenders in the back are not the same as the front those are definitely front fenders and need to have an upswept in the back rare car my god well you could this be nineteen ten twelve something like that obviously that's been restored I wonder if Jerry restored that we'll ask him about it and this looks cool it's a 34 Ford to meet one of the prettiest cars this is when Edsel Ford started to influence the design of Ford Motor Company cars this was designed by actually Bob Gregory under the guidance of Edsel Ford Henry's son and the way I know it's a 34 is that the easy way I know is it has two hood handles one here one here there locks a 33 look virtually identical and had one handle in the middle but obviously that was not enough and there it is flathead v8 it's probably the original motor one carburetor a Ford downdraft I think it's a Ford 94 two barrel that's a sweet car I don't know if that's been restored as its original but if I look at the mohair interior boy it looks original to me how many miles are on this car Wow it says 16,000 miles wouldn't that be amazing so the seats aren't even worn out the dashboard still got the woodgrain dash I'd say that's original car that's a very special car well that's the find of the day right there a vehicle looks like Willy's Jeepster lots of stuff on the hood but we've lifted it up and peeked inside and it's a six holder they came with a flathead four and they had a 6-1 low as well so this is kind of a hot rod this was a sports car version of a jeep it was two wheel drive and Willy's came out with this because well Thunderbirds early Corvettes MGT DS and it's Jaguars and Willy's was the only one making these commercial vehicles jeeps trucks four-wheel drive army vehicles so they came out with a sporty version called the Jeepster I don't know what shape this is in would have to get it outside and wash it up and and take a look at it but it's a California car it's probably been in here for decades the Haggerty guide says that this is probably in the $16,000 range in good condition and in concours condition about 40-something thousand dollar forty-eight thousand dollars in concours condition once you get you know more invested in your car the audience should have to buy that car becomes less and less more people would be interested in buying it like this then in concours condition because they can they can put sweat equity into it and and build it themselves into the car they want and save a lot of money but if you just want to be a beautiful Jeep ste go to a show and buy one and if you paid in the 40s you wouldn't be paying too much but this would be a fun vehicle don't think about it it's it's it's a convertible it'll hold a family to its bucket seats in the front and probably three small kids in the back it would be ideal to have this to cruise around our weekends it's not very complicated anybody can do repairs on this very very basic vehicle and you can get lots of parts for it you know would this be a cool rat rod to take the body off the frame restore the frame put a late-model drivetrain in there with an automatic and air conditioning is to put the body back on and just drive it like it is or mercury here's a Buick special not so special to me but it's the car next to it that I'm interested in and it's this copper colored 57 Chevy two-door hardtop bill air coupe again you know the hot sport models are the cars with no pillar and between the front window in the back window to have an automatic transmission so it's probably original probably has the original 283 engine it's got mag wheels on it I'll show you the bumper up here California bumpers on 57 Chevys were different than the rest of the country the front bumper on a California 57 it was a smooth piece of metal all the way across cars that were built on the East Coast had a seam in the bumper so it was actually three pieces of metal that piece this piece and that piece that were welded together so guys on the East Coast are always looking for 57 Chevy West Coast bumpers so they have it nice seamless look to it so this is definitely a West Coast car let's see what's under the hood now these cars came with us a 283 and you can get them with a four-barrel and there's a power pack unit with two four barrels so that's a 283 I would say it has a generator and it has a two-barrel carburetor it does not have power brakes it's got manual brakes but it's a pretty cool car this is this is as a substantial a car to find as a 32 Ford Roadster is this is a good find this is probably the the best car we found besides that 34 Ford the best car were found in any of these barns here today I think it's a 67 what years at Jeepster I called a 48 but I could all really read okay and it's got a Chevy small-block in it so what would you ask for that Willy's I think it's worth 4 grand is Cheri's it could be no kidding no how about the 34 Ford sedan that's a sweetheart not for sale it's not is that an original low mileage car I doubt it because I had it restored all he did okay I'm sure now we see next to it was a it could be a Flanders Flanders I swear was a Flanders what years had 19 1010 had the monocle yeah windshield - how did you that was restored you've had that a while my dad was a great guy he played with he had a 32 automobile to go at the roaring 20s he had a 19-6 Rio to go with a single cylinder touring he bought the Flanders to go with the four cylinder early tour okay he loved to play now what about the the original 2070 Roche to pick up the black one is that for sale I would it's firewood 25 2,500 2,500 2,500 for the roadster pickup how about the the 65 Ford Galaxie 500 I think that cars worth 5 grand mm-hmm the mileage is what forty eight thousand thirty thirty thousand when we got it had a carburetor fire and it burned the hood we changed the carburetor and put another hood on it never fired it up after that though I have to say you're the nicest junkyard man I've ever met you know really you you know junkyard men and they are all suspicious and crabby and you know nothing's for sale if you want it they don't sell it I've been going to junkyards my whole life looking for old cars and parts Jerry turn is probably the nicest junkyard man I've ever met he gave us full run of the place he said you can go anywhere you want you can go inside any building and we came back the cars we found in the barns were actually for sale and at good prices it just goes to show that maybe sometimes there's treasure hiding in plain sight happy hunting
