and indoor activity may sound pretty good this weekend temperatures are dropping let's check back in with mike joyce for more on that yeah we have a cold front that is working through central ohio as we speak and the last couple of days we had a break from all the cold air we were able to melt away a lot of the snow and ice left over from last week's winter storm but we are cooling down as we speak that said the rain that we had last night has moved out of nearly all of our central ohio communities live doppler 10 looking pretty good for us right now although i am tracking a few flurries off to our northwest some of these are starting to move into van wert paulding county northern mercer county ohio from the fort wayne metro area that means we'll have a few flurries throughout the afternoon thankfully though these should remain light they'll float through the sky at times maybe leave a light dusting on the ground and that's it for us here's a live look outside in heath in newark nice clear road thanks to all of our hard-working road crews who deserve the weekend off after working very hard a week ago and a lot of that snow has melted on the grass too thanks to all of the warm air that we've had and even the rain over the last 48 hours but let's head somewhere where we want to keep the snow snow trails up in mansfield this is a live camera of the west woods uh hill where today they have the big air competition going on so pretty neat there it'll be packed with people later this afternoon but for now it's quiet and temperatures are just below freezing 30 in bucyrus and mount vernon kenton at 29 32 at john glenn airport as it is most of the way down route 23 from circleville to chillicothe and piketon's still at 38 athens at 39 jackson 41 but we can see where the cold front is and it's working fast lancaster down to 33 compared to logan at 38 so logan will be cooling down as well over the next couple of hours and it is a big temperature spread finley's at 29 toledo at 27. portsmouth still at 44 degrees so still pretty warm in our southern ohio communities that said temperatures are going to hold pretty consistent today upper 20's for central ohio low 30's for southeastern ohio through nine o'clock and by the time we get to two o'clock briefly getting above freezing before falling right back into the 20s this evening and a few flurries dancing around so i don't think we see much in the way of rain just a few flurries today and then overnight so we're in the low 20s by 11 o'clock overnight we get into the teens again heading into tomorrow morning so these flurries that will be dancing around throughout the day they're not going to accumulate just that light dusting mostly cloudy for us today but as we get into early sunday the clouds will start breaking out and that will allow us to get into the teens overnight so a little bit more sunshine for our sunday but still a chance for a few flurries as well here's eight o'clock in the morning a mix of clouds and sun and as we head into the afternoon a few more clouds we'll still see some sun but here's six o'clock as many of us are getting ready to have some celebratory parties for the cincinnati bengals we have some flurries out there but that shouldn't impact any travel but you'll see them in the headlights then but less so on the way home from those parties so sunday temperatures cold in the morning 19 at 9 a.m 22 between 11 a.m and noon and then mid-20s between two and three o'clock but compare that to la where it's going to be nearly 60 degrees warmer with plenty of sunshine almost like summer out there it'll be a dry heat though and then once the sun sets at half time 78 70 hopefully as the bengals are bringing home the lobardi trophy to the buckeye state tomorrow evening that said back here in the ohio valley on monday high pressure taking over from monday and tuesday and that means we'll see a good deal of sunshine then a warm front lifts to the north on wednesday we stay dry but become mostly cloudy with temperatures soaring into the 50s and then on thursday low pressure approaches and so does its attached cold front so we'll get more windy and we're going to see steady rain throughout the day and some of this rain could be heavy at times with about one to two inches of rain expected so we are looking at a flooding threat in some areas for us on thursday in addition to the wind then the cold front pushes through this transitions to wet snow on friday because of the warm air from the previous couple of days it shouldn't be a major road accumulation event but we do have to watch out for reduced visibility and a little bit of an accumulation on grassy surfaces early friday that doesn't last long we'll start to see the sun coming back out late day friday setting us up for a nice weekend but until then our rain chances are very low over the next five days saturday and sunday just a few flurries then monday and tuesday are dry and partly cloudy wednesday we could see a shower late in the day but for the most part it's going to be a dry and warm day so if you have any outdoor activities wednesday is the day to do it and we are going to stay warm for just a couple of days so 27 tomorrow 30 on valentine's day a nice day overall if you're heading out or staying in 42 and partly cloudy tuesday there are those 50s almost 60 thursday but then we go down to 38 friday but that sets us up for a relatively quiet and seasonable late february weekend a week from now all right thanks so much mike
