Several people killed after possible tornado touches down in Iowa

several people in iowa have died as a result of this it's a possible tornado emergency crews in des moines continue their rescue efforts this morning abc's karina mitchell has the latest from the hawkeye state tragedy in iowa emergency officials say several people are dead after a suspected tornado touched down saturday in winterset southwest of des moines at this time we can confirm that we have six fatalities including four adults and two children under the age of five there are also four adults injured three that are in serious condition and one that was transferred to des moines hospital with life-threatening injuries several people captured video of the severe weather in winterset and some of the devastation that was left behind emergency officials say the tornado was spotted on the ground around 4 30 saturday afternoon and left a path of destruction in its wake many people had their houses lost that we're saying at this point between from the trail from the photo started to where it ended it's probably about 25 30 houses that we're estimating the national weather service in des moines says an initial look at photos and videos suggest the tornado may have been an ef-3 survey teams will check the damage today to reach a final conclusion
