Clive Palmer’s Superyacht In Trouble - SECOND Time in 8 Months! | SY News Ep327

this is super yot news with e sisman hi welcome back to the channel well it really seems that 2024 is the year of the yacht grounding you remember in previous years we had yacht fires now it seems to be yacht grounding yesterday's report was on a grounding on a beach in Valencia in Spain and now another grounding a superat owned by an Australian has grounded for the second time in less than a year Clyde Palmer's yacht is in trouble again this time in Australia now his his yacht is a $40 million 56 M or 183 ft yacht which is also named moach Australia and it's beached on a sandbank or it has been beached on a sandbank and this is not the first time that the yacht has run into difficulties as I mentioned the yacht grounded eight months ago in Singapore which we covered at the time the yacht had grounded on a sand Bank near the Sentosa Resort in Singapore and the yacht needed to be freed by tugs in that incident in October last year and in this latest incident the yacht grounded on another sandbank this time near wave break Island in Gold Coast Broadwater now for the second time in less than a year the yacht required a tugboat to assist in pulling the yacht free from that sandbank to refloat the yacht now it happened as the yacht was leaving the marina and in the G Coast Seaway Channel now now I've got sort a bit of a timeline here based on AIS data the yacht left earlier at 0419 hours UTC but then after leaving the channel and getting out into the open ocean the yacht then turned around about 30 minutes after departure and went back to the marina but apparently not docking according to AIS data now at uh 0608 hours on uh UTC they left once again and headed through the same channel they'd gone through earlier but then seemed to have grounded as they turned to head out to see this was about 0637 hours UTC they sat there for the next four to five hours after several attempts it was finally freed by a tug approximately 1000 hours UTC and headed back to the marina where the yacht remains currently the yacht is currently or like I said the yacht is currently mowed in the Southport yach Club where she had deposited from earli that day so what happened uh now the fact that the yacht went out and then turned around and returned to the marina before leaving again a little while later could indicate an issue with the yacht that caused them to need to turn around then once they beli the issue was resolved they departed uh once again only to potentially have another instance of that issue again as they tried to turn to head out to sea causing them to run around of course this is speculation but it's based on the route that they took which does does seem unusual it's very unusual for a yacht to turn around after after having gone through a channel and gone out to open sea unless there an issue the fact that they ended up on the sandbanks suggests there may have been some issue with the vessel the place they grounded is on navigational charts as being very shallow in depth which something they would have been aware of most likely I suppose we'll have to wait uh for the report to find out what happened now Clive Palmer is an Australian mining magnate and purchased remote yacht Australia in 2021 after upgrading from his previous yacht which was a 35 M this yacht is a 56 M A 183 ft benetti built in 2012 and can carry 12 guests and has a crew of 12 if you're on board that yacht or if you know anything about what caused the yacht to ground on that sandbank please let us know okay so speaking of groundings the plan to refloat and tow the yacht that grounded on penedo beach in Valen IA Spain that we talked about in the last video has started with workers uh and Machinery arriving at the beach the yacht named Mo yacht Nordic Lily ran around and the captain was airlifted from the yacht and taken to hospital as he had apparently Fallen ill now two crew members remained on board as they attempted to make temporary repairs to the yacht as it had developed a leak uh now the Machinery brought includes a digger as you can see in the photos and various generators to apparently try to dig out this ground of vessel and once the vessel is refloated the yacht will be towed to the marina or most likely to a dry dock uh so that repairs on the leak can be carried out now I noticed in the comments in the previous video Someone said why did the captain need to be airlifted when even small children could walk out and touch the boat according to the video well lots of people are airlifted when they're ill from their houses and from you know accidents in cars and stuff when they're sick enough they need to get them to the hospital quickly they use a helicopter uh plus also we don't know what the weather was like at the time or when he was airlifted from that Bessel anyway uh hopefully he makes a full recovery now um interestingly uh we had an email or a comment I don't remember which one it was from someone recently that said he loved watching the our videos but every time I call a chart a map it makes him cringe obviously a Dey because you know it wouldn't bother an engineer anyway I included the use of chart in that last story just for you I call them Maps because most people who watch are not in the industry they don't work at C and as El musk says in his six rules for tester employers rule number four avoid nonsense words and Technical jargon it slows down communication choose words that are concise to the point and easy to understand and don't try to sound smart be efficient that's my reasoning for calling the maps not that I sometimes forget to call it a chart and call it a map instead it is definitely because of what I've just said anyway we'll move on to our Friday yacht spot first we have moot ad Vantage ad SL Vantage which looks like a support vessel because she is a built by Damon yting in 2012 she was refitted in 2014 to her new owner's requirements now this yacht supports the mothership which is our second yacht today M yacht Omaha which you can see here in the photo which was all so both of these photos were taken in Key West Omaha is a 50 m or 164t yard build by hon in 2018 now going back to that support vessel I've got some video here and you can see a submersible on the deck there which looks very cool I believe that is a Triton sub on the back there okay we'll move on to our next yacht this was sent in by Brian Pate uh the yacht is Moto yacht Bravo Eugenia uh which was anchored near Harbor Island in the Bahamas for his daughter's wedding back in April the yacht is a 109 M or 357 ft yacht in length with 3,400 gross tons and it was built by ocean Co in 2018 the owner of this yacht by the way is Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones
