Clear Blue Tiles & Block Maker

hi i'm melody and i'm here at kingdom sewing in beautiful simi valley and it's a gorgeous fall day today and today we're going to be talking about the clear blue tiles now most of you have probably seen some of the clear blue tiles on other on other youtube feeds but along with doing this adorable little charm square throw pillow we are going to actually show you how to do it using your dime monster hoop 8x8 hoop along with the float your block system which will make this even easier to do now you're probably sitting back wondering well what what machines can we use this on and if you're a baby lock person like we are um you can use the eight by eight hoop on the alyssimo the destiny the altair the meridian the solaris so any of the big machines so i just wanted to show you what i had here i have a 16 block charm square quilt that i just threw together in probably less than a half an hour and i have hooped my five by five dime float your block and i've put my my glue tape on just the top i didn't put it on the back because we're not going to put a backing on here and i'm just going to show you that i can just peel this tape right off and now our now our fabric is ready to hoop i have already gone through and marked some of my blocks ready for us for today and i'm going to use the really cute little candy corn candy corn embroidery item that came with your kit now in your kit we have them here at the store so please give gina a call to put your name on the list to have one of these great kits the actual starter kit comes with the booklet and you get 12 finished block tiles 14 finished block i'm sorry 12 finished border tiles 14 block tiles two of these pins this is our our sample kit two pins two of our snap bands to hold your your quilt when you're doing something larger than than what you have your the neck of your sewing machine for and the usb drive now this is really important the usb drive has all of the designs for the clear blue tile set so if you have the destiny altair meridian or solaris and you want to buy the expansion kit which is 39 the designs are already on this hard drive i mean on this flash drive so you really need to buy the starter kit along with the expansion kit so i'm just going to set this over here i'm going to close my book and i also wanted to show you that this little project you can get out on babylock's website so if you want to do this project along with me you can record this and then um download the instructions okay so with that tim if you can kind of zoom in you can see that i have already put my marks on my my charm squares all of my arrows are going now this is a sample kit so i actually didn't have the 4x4 tile so i went ahead and used my 4x6 tile to find the center of my block which wasn't a problem so i'm just putting that right there and i have all of my arrows pointing up and that's so that your design can keep going in the same direction and if you've been to kingdom you know how much i love edge to edge you're going to love this so all i'm going to do is i'm going to take the center of my quilt i'm going to just set it on my sticky tape we're going to just go like that and it is now ready to sew so we're just going to slide over here i'm going to slide my hoop on and we're going to go to embroidery i'm going to go to layout i'm going to go to move so that my my uh let me see the screen on the function so we're going to zoom in on the sewing machine there okay and all i'm doing is i'm moving my machine over so that it is right there on the center dot it's as easy as that the nice thing about the clear blue tiles is if you have a starter machine with just a 4x4 inch hoop like you've bought it to do quilt labels you can now do some quilting with it as well by using the same method so you have not been left out so with that i'm just going to go ahead and make sure that my tape is holding and we are just going to i've put black thread bobbin thread in not that it makes any difference and black top thread so hopefully you can see this and notice how the float your boat float your boat float your block holds that nice and tight for the embroidery and while this is a quick design it's only one minute long to actually do this design now one of the things that kimber bell has done with this that makes this whole system really amazing is it doesn't matter whether you're using the four by four inch tiles or you're using the big you know eight by ten inch tiles they've digitized the design so each piece is the same size as the other pieces and what i mean is if you're using let's see if i can show you in here well you're going to design sew out this four by six spring but you don't have a four by six hoop the design here will sew out the same size and you just link two four by four inch designs together so all of the design elements are the same digitized size so it's not just smaller designs that are able to be put in your hoop so that's pretty cool okay so that's been done all i'm going to do now is i'm going to lift i'm going to peel my tape my project off the tape and i'm just going to move it over and i'm just going to put it right here make sure i'm square there we go and i'm going to move my layout over and what i'm trying to do is put it right here on this dot that i've already put in the center whoops i went a little too far okay and hit go it's as easy as that now i'm just putting a four by four inch design in here but if you had the destiny or above machine we'd actually be able to go into our digitizing piece of the resizing in our big machines and actually resize the block to maybe be five by five and do all of all of the designs in a five by five so just a thought so even though we get how many pieces how many designs do we get in here we get on the flash drive on the flash drive there is a total of well i don't know it's a lot it also comes in every single format so we have we have them for the brother baby lock the commercial machine for the dst we have the gymnomi um the jeff the viking so you're not left out they've thought of everybody and i was just trying to there's a lot of designs in here and i i apologize for not knowing the answer okay so tim do you want me to keep going or nope we're good okay so before we leave there's a couple things that we have uh we actually got the kit and the um the project and the fabric kit for the this month's this month's kimber bell project which is this darling little pillow so you have a christmas pillow so you have your choice you can come down and just buy the pillow set and get the design for free or if you don't want to look for all the fabrics we've also got the fabric kit the pillow design it the pillow is with the design is 10.95 and you get the design but if you want the whole project you get the design the pillow and the fabric and glitter sheets for 25 dollars so it's a great deal you don't have to go looking for all your fabric and 372 designs oh thank you so there are 372 designs on our flash drive in various varying sizes as law as well as borders and sizes like this so tim do we have any other questions um the
