if you don't know what this is or you never had it before then you're missing out on the best gourmet experience of Korean street food all right are you guys ready let's get started [Music] there's a million ways to make topuki but today we just three ingredients let's make old skutabuki the Clarin I grew up eating nothing fancy but this simple and humble street style tagpuki will take you to our childhood so buckle up for this you will need Korean rice King Fish King and green onion yes that's all you need so simple right but if you have some extra cash in your pocket bring some eggs because even in the past it was a little bit more pricey when it came with some bull decks first of all let's talk about the rice cakes today I'm gonna be using this kind of long cylinder shaped rice cake cold cut it off what you don't think you can get this that's okay it doesn't have to be exactly this guy I'm just using it to give it that old school Vibe so just use what you have no problem at all but if you're so lucky and you have a Korean rice cake store in your neighborhood so you can get this kind of freshly made cut it off please give that a try you will get the Wonderful Chinese softness and bounciness you're gonna love it so much next let's prep our fish cakes take three or four sheets of fish cake and cut them into nice bite-sized pieces at this point some of you might think like hey man I don't want to use fish cake because it sounds too fishy that's not true at all when this guy goes into the sauce trust me you will take it to the next level it's like using chicken stock instead of water when you make soup or risotto so please follow my lead don't worry about it this is not going to be fishy at all lastly let's chop some green onions just like fish cake these guys will upgrade our top poke sauce even if we add this much you will feel like it's made with vegetable stock remember more green onion more delicious now let's get on to the seasoning paste in a small container add two tablespoons of fine gochugaru Korean chili powder 2 tablespoons of Gucci gang Korean chili paste 2 tablespoons of sugar 3 tablespoons of corn syrup one tablespoon of tajida Korean beef stock powder a quarter teaspoon of black pepper and give it a good mix here some of you might say oh my God Aaron sugar and corn syrup they're not good for you and I'm pretty sure someone will change the recipe but you know what that's the reason why homemade tokpoki doesn't taste great like Street vendors I totally understand you might want to reduce them but if you do you won't get that amazing dogpokie that you're looking for even if you bring a tokbookie master who's been making it for more than 50 years I dare say that's not gonna work lost you're not gonna drink it all like soda so let's just enjoy it and go to the gym go to the gym lastly for the stalk combine three cups of water with half a tablespoon of tajida Korean beef stock powder actually Street Fender secret ingredient is fish cake soup broth but what should we do we can't make fish cakes at first just because of topoki so let's just go with this guy today don't worry about it still gonna be good anyways if you don't have Korean beef stock powder you can substitute with chicken bouyong powder so just use what you have that's the best alright everything is all said let's get cooking in a large pan add 600 grams of rice cakes fish cakes green onions and some hard boiled eggs and then there are seasoning paste and the stock make sure you get every last drop out of it because that's all Flavor now all we gotta do is bring it to a boil that's it so simple right once it starts to Boiling and bubbling reduce the heat to medium and then we're gonna let it simmer for about 30 minutes during the simmer make sure to Stir It occasionally so that nothing's gonna burn on the bottom I know stirring it for 30 minutes there can be a hassle but Street fenders they constantly stir and simmer it all day to get the best flavor so 30 minutes not a bad deal for information if you want to get this beautiful vibrant red color it's better to use fine gochugaru but even if you use coarse Gucci it will still come out fantastic so don't worry about it what is it your wife's birthday then use a blender she's gonna love him more alright the sauce is thickened and the rice cakes are cooked through let's plate this up of course you could just serve it in a bowl or plate like this but my favorite way to serve this duckbookie is to serve it in a pan can't you feel more authentic Vibes is it just me alright let's break it add a little bit more sauce on top cheers strongly recommend it so good to me tofuki is all about the texture and the sauce so rather than having it on its own I like to have it with other snacks like kimbap or fried dumplings but today let me show you something different Korean style corn dog thank you thank you I got the conduct if you dip it in the top okay sauce trust me it's gonna taste like heaven [Music] cheers why do we need ketchup when we have this delicious top cookie sauce so good if you cut it into small pieces like this it's going to be very easier to eat um cheers hmm absolutely when Aaron said he's gonna make tofuki this week I asked him to make Korean style corn dogs but he got hiccup how dare he is but I can't deny this is so good if you want to make tokpoki one of the most iconic Street Foods in Korea how was it it's really simple and easy to make I'm sorry to say but you really don't need to spend 15 or 20 dollars on topoki you can make it at
