hopes of capturing two more championship belts to do it she'll need the best for most accomplished opponent to date Donna Gabriel's the current unified 154 pop champion Gabriel's moves up and wait four titles in a third division my partner Steve Farhad and an opportunity to talk with both champions earlier tonight Hannah Gabriel's you're moving up and wait the rest is coming down I know you've been asked this question a lot but how will weight impact this fight we don't know until I feel right but really and truly I believe that when you learn to to do other things the power and all of that you know it plays it plays something but not everything so I feel very confident about my job and all that we've been working on and we'll see I just hope that you enjoy it a lot when you when somebody asks you how are you gonna fight Claressa you said definitely not the way all the other women have fought her so what is your plan gonna be I'm just gonna be technical aggressive there's no way you can win to Clarisse of being passive or being you know expecting to catch her because she's very fast and she has so much stamina and is so aggressive that you know you get you got to step up to the game just like as aggressive as she is so I'm just very excited because I haven't been that aggressive in a while and so I'm just excited to see how this will work out we're excited to a good luck Hannah thank you so much Claressa Shields I saw the look on your face yesterday when they announced the weight you were like yeah you were relieved so how is weight gonna play a factor in this fight I don't think it is she's coming up and going down with me right in the middle so I mean she walks on that 175 I walk around by one lady I think we're both coming down and it should be a good fight you have said that Hana Gabriel's is on paper or Wharf paper the best fighter you fought so far what kind of fight are you expecting almost piuser gifts these are legs hopefully she has some heart today and not and I try to run and prove to me that I'm not the greatest woman of all time tonight but um I'm here to prove the exact opposite I am the greatest woman of all time and that uh you opponents who before punch was even thrown we're all done dancing I do not get that sense with her opponent tonight I don't believe Hannah Gabriel is odd at all not at all one thing I do notice Barry you know attitude is so important with fighters I think Gabriel's has been very deferential to Claressa Shields where Claressa says you know I want to K if I can kick but everything else will be fine so I used the word arrogance as a compliment I see it slightly in Christina hammer and I definitely see it in Claressa Shields it's an attitude like I'm just not gonna be beaten and we'll see if attitude translates into what happens inside the ring yeah I think one thing is fairly certain and that is we're gonna see a fight break out here in Detroit to that end here again is row Marquez and let me just put it to you this way how do you see this thing playing out what's gonna happen here what Barry shoes is naturally the bigger fighters he needs to use their physical strength to I'll muscle her and just break her down kind of work on Cyn down more and her power shots to try to get a knockout we haven't seen a knock up of prism and hope that the wave drop doesn't affect her stamina and power not for Gabriel she can't afford to go toe to toe she's got to move in and out use a lateral movement her speed and just be smart in there know when to engage and take into the later rounds course and Steve mentioned is and that is the fact that Claressa Shields with a new trainer this time around and we'll see what effect if any that has should be a very entertaining fight though it is our main event of the evening Panna Gabriel's and Claressa Shields 35 year old Panna Gabriel she'll be making her debut tonight having fought 14 of her 20 fights in her native Costa Rica and the rest in either the Caribbean or South America the 11-year pro won the WBO welterweight title back in December 2009 then she moved up and wait and won two WBO junior middleweight title in May of 2010 she made three successful defenses of that 154 final before losing it in February of 2015 Gabriel's regained the title in December 14th that has defended it five times she added the in TV a version in all of a sudden versus prefetch combination yo Gabe Rose is being reduced to someone's looking for that one punch [Music] [Applause] and you know she is the smaller fighter and there used to find out one get before Larissa is coming down from 1 to stage is he lives with a bigger so maybe her just a bodyweight is when Deborah's down big wheels breathing through the mouth down well floressa shield historically fights with her mouth open shields now you can sense starting to take control Gabrus Holden [Applause] it's halftime of this fight and because of what happened in round 1 Shields has dominated most of the rest of the action but isn't up very much on the cards you see her jabs a4 jab advantage and the power shots on the 11 power shot advantage so not a big edge but here is the story of the fight early at least watch the right hand right uppercut right there heard shields and follow-up left hook put it down that foot shields two points down on the cards now she's made that up at least on my card with furious combination punching just like this and as the rounds have mounted we've seen sheõs continuing where the flurries and Gabriel is only doing it in spots and now a left hook coming from Gabriel shields a little wild a little wide with those shots perhaps not picking her punches as much as John David Jackson want but you see she landed a big right hand and another right hand and did win that exchange wake up around 7:00 for us his shield was dropped to the first draft but as at least PR i--'s has taken control at this fight is effective controlled and Shields is doing isn't gonna work against me we do these exchanges toward the end of the read out there against shields a little more pinpoint with her shots but again fighting off the ropes and I just don't think with a presumed lead on points I don't know that she needs these big exchanges left hook there by Gabriel does she have one more punch in her to make this engine I think the higher round since she's out munch and I blended Gabriel [Applause] see these kind of moments where not much is happening I think a huge advantage to shield I agree the only way she's gonna lose this fight is to get caught my shields [Applause] but yeah Gabriel disorder comes in with her head [Applause] I think this a very good fight for shields a good fight to have oh yeah I'm gonna learn a lot from this fight you know she's fighting a champion of hoots fighting with the champions mentality meaning that when things aren't going right she's still trying to win don't know if she has enough energy know getting better than absolute absolute fighters can't deal with that moving cut to get head-butted then they've dropped I think that's supposed to be learned is I think I think you can make a case for this is by far our best performance despite being knocked out because of the quality yes and she had to deal with as you said deal with the first at the first time [Music] well now the scoreboard is clean and you know what everybody would be talking about that's right the possibility at least of a mash-up between assuming Christina excuse me assuming for us to show us wins this have won this fight which i think is a given pair assumption if timer and shields if that fight is made they'll be fun for all four and wait so we're gonna happen and this Belsen by Gabriel now hey I said I Pacey remain dangerous had enough energy to trade with Claressa Shields but did not do enough to win the round that was a heck of a night of boxing I'll tell you I think both women both assuming again the this is the last minute of the 10th round right there Gabriel's was against the ropes came forward her arms hood down but her hedges up all right so let's find out the how the judges saw this one we impressed with her in this fight than any other despite the fact that she did get dropped and really had to dig down to win it it was not an easy victory for her but she fought a very tough person in front of her and that's what makes me impressed with Claressa Shields now of course the road is open and we'll find out what she has to say about it as we go to Steve Farhad with Clarissa shoe first we're gonna talk to Hannah Kate real you scored a knockdown in the first round did that change your mentality in the fight did you try for a knockout after that or how did that affect your your respond in adversity but this was really the first fight in which you had adversity in that first round that knockdown pretty much came out of nowhere yet you won every round after that how did you do that I'm telling you my mind I could tell you the whole fight round by round I could tell you what I got hit with probably what the second was on the bill I was like either way it goes tonight is my night I'm gonna make history I gotta show the world one of the great women of all time like I said I'm mad I put on mass but it wasn't over she tried to get me actually tried to give me our second round in third round I want every round after knockdown and I show Who I am I show that any now I'm really dangerous because they know they could knocks me down and I'm gonna get back up and I'm gonna think steve is the greatest announcer of all time i was trying to go up there and protect steve there you know we're we're team it's my job to look out for both for you guys you were ready I've been a lot of emotion going on right now yeah that's what it is I mean and and you know Christina hammer she added she's had a chance to kind of take a blow and she or she already showered and cleaned up Caressa she'll still smile she's still hot and Chrissy the pattern knows how to get under her skin that's what happened like you said she was just finished fighting she still heated up she's probably not a hundred percent satisfied with her performance I mean she got the win know one thing first you know she's dealt with a lot of adversity everybody saw she got dropped in the first round that was shocked and she didn't expect that but what I did like about her there is she got back up and took her time I expected her to go wild and crazy and try to not gonna knock her opponent out Gabe rose but no she took your time she regained her thoughts put her toes together establish the jab he started winning rounds she also got cut she also got head-butted and as you know she went ten really tough rounds for only the second time in her career with Nelson she went ten rounds but everything went her way this fight she couldn't take any rounds off she had to keep thinking every round and that kind of fight is gonna help her for the Christina hammer fight but she the hammer total different style she's not gonna stand in front of her like Gabriel's did so I'm looking forward to this deep fried here for a moment and and as we said I was warm pressed with tonight then I have been into the other fights and that was because of the caliber of opponent that she fought that said I was extremely impressed with Christina hammer I can't wait for this fight to happen you can't wait and part of the reason is you know we project when we see two fighters who are going to fight each other next we hope that is the case you can't project much off of this because Hana Gabriel's and Christina hammer have totally different styles and will present different problems to Claressa Shields so in that sense is not that much to learn although we learned a lot about Claressa Shields coming off the floor obviously they caught not much of a factor but I think if they were trying to sell the fight Barre they could have done so without having me as at their yeah but I don't think you needed to be the fall guy almost literally in that case but was Raul when I needed he was there for you he was there for he was standing next to me saying boy I hope Steve does okay but that's a fight you know I think back to Laila Ali and and wolf they never fought each other they were 168 pounders these women will be 160 I think the fight will happen it makes sense for it to happen and they didn't even need that little exchange in the ring at the end of the fight it wasn't necessary and I think people will want to see that fight regardless that's what I think too I mean it is the cliche that styles make fights I think those two styles should make for a great fight what a night of boxing it's
