welcome back to a brand new civ 6 or civilization 6 video hope you're all having fantastic days but in the history of humankind mistakes have constantly been made take a look at my existence for example in this civ 6 video we're going to be talking about 5 early game mistakes that you need to stop making or you'll be more scared of deity than youtubers are of comrade susan's next 4 year plan in any case let's get into it [Music] and as always if you do enjoy feel free to leave a like and subscribe helps me out a ton but uh without further ado let's get into the first tip which is not building enough units now i know i said i wouldn't put things that are obvious but i think this one deserves a special mention essentially if you don't build enough units it's not just that the ai's gonna come after you it's the fact that these barbarians are gonna absolutely spawn just roman empire military you know come at you with millions of units while you don't even have a single slinger barbarians in this games are absolutely terrible and they spawn almost everywhere pretty much you're gonna have to be like america and spend everything on the military industrial complex granaries food people don't need to eat what are you talking about join the military if you want to snack but unless you want to be like the roman empire in the 4th century you need to eliminate barbarians quickly and effectively because once that scout gets back to the encampment you might as well hit the restart button because you're not making it out of that game alive uh but pretty much unless you're cuddled up next to another civ or city state kind of like my dreams but they'll never come true you do need a large military in order for you to stave off the barbarian invasions again especially considering the fact that the barbarian in the encampment's just gonna be fortified the entire time you're gonna probably need a couple units per encampment and that isn't even considering the fact that they'll probably get a couple scouts back and start spawning out units from absolutely nowhere it's as if the scouts get back to the encampments and they immediately go into baby maker mode maybe give them some minecraft level bone meal to grow those babies up immediately and unscript them into the military but yeah pretty much you just have to continuously build units in the early game uh building buildings we'll get to that in the future but really i'd say you need about five or six units to really at least to help you clear out barbarians and keep vision around your cities so you can prevent barbarians from spawning there in the first place that's pretty much the first tip let's go ahead and get into a secret super secret unknown special tip [Music] now the second tip we are going to be talking about is building useless buildings like granaries water mills etc you should almost certainly never build any of those buildings the bonuses they give are just not worth it i mean the granary gives one food and two housing really i'm not gonna spend eight or nine turns building a goddamn granary and that's if i'm lucky with production just to get a solid one food out of it the two housing isn't really going to be worth it especially if you have like a river city aqueducts are better for the industrial zone adjacency anyway but with all the funds you're going to be sending to the military industrial complex you can't be giving useless buildings i mean water mills are worth an early game settler and they give like two food one production are you dumb i'm not building that anymore what what do you mean water mills not we don't build those buildings on this channels but for some reason people are more invested in building these buildings than twitch employees are the titty streamers uh it's just i i really don't get it a lot of the time i mean i build granaries and water mills a lot as well but looking back at it why would i ever build the buildings which give absolutely you know essentially no benefit one food is like half a population's worth you might be able to start feeding your populace a little bit better cut off two or three total turns from your next population growth rate but uh yeah the city center buildings are essentially useless for the most part some buildings are good but they're the ones you usually build in districts after the monument which is the only city center building you should be trying to build you got to leave your city more barren than the town that this one dude is rebuilding on this youtube channel nothing should be in there aside from that one singular monument but uh yeah essentially what i'm trying to say is a lot of the buildings especially in the city center are for the most part completely useless one food or two food and a little bit of housing isn't worth it when you could just get a builder to get literally more yields than that or start building a settler for a second city or just continue putting funds into your military aside from that uh yeah don't build these useless buildings let's move on to tip number three now the third tip is something me and many others probably already know about but we're just too lazy to actually make use of it and that is not switching civics or text at 50 completion rate i think it's either 40 or 50 percent the amount of science or culture a civic or eureka or inspiration can get you but there's no point in continuing to research attack if you are going to get the eureka for it anyway if there's an iron mine i'm about to build in five turns there's no point in me continuing iron working it's just a waste of science go ahead and go to another technology maybe you could get some fish or something if you really want to but really before sieve the last time i heard eureka was when i was watching the backyardigans when i was like five years old uh but pretty much you're going to be wasting more science than jen's ears are wasting their stimulus checks uh i'm a gen zero i know all about that but honestly when it comes to switching technologies it is just something kind of a pain honestly i don't even know how it's kind of like turning your alarm alarm clock off in the early morning after you wake up it's literally like two steps away but it feels like an eternity and you really just don't want to do it but honestly if you it's it's probably gonna be extremely helpful and definitely a lot better if you do actually end up switching the text and civics after they get to around 50 or 60 percent pretty much you want to be going for the strategy like sumo wrestlers go for that second helping of their second helping you got to do it with full force man you can't half-ass it and if you really want to win a game probably even a multiplayer game at this point you have to put this strategy into motion tip number four is something i am most definitely a culprit of as the youtube comments section usually lets me know and that is not sending delegations immediately leaders in civ 6 are kind of like girlfriends if you don't give them attention immediately you're pretty much essentially worse than the silly mustache oh there goes my monetization five seconds to pray for forgiveness from the algorithm gods all right let's continue but if you don't give a delegation on turn one of meeting a sieve and you hit next turn it's pretty much just going to process in a way and on the higher difficulties especially you get a negative modifier base when it comes to meeting sieves so if you don't immediately give the delegation you are going to be uh not being able to give the delegation in the future unless you do some obscure leader agenda like building eight different triremes in order to get harold to be your friend and acknowledge your navy but unless you're mr krabs and really can't part away with giving up 25 gold you should be doing this all the time immediately for multiple reasons the bonus relationship will allow you to make friends a lot easier not to mention prevent them from attacking you because who in their right mind would attack their friends but essentially civ leaders are like those obscure relatives you can come out of the woodworks after you start getting some money if you don't give the people you haven't seen for literal decades of banned you're going to get branded as a well as a very bad person essentially but pretty much what i'm trying to say is that if you don't give the delegation it's just going to cause problems for you in the future like someone's going to be more likely to attack you and they're going to be more likely to not be your friend which could be a problem once alliances come around especially if you're not able to complete their agenda like cleo's agenda is building a massive military if you're not able to do that then she'll probably just denounce you and you'll have no chance of making allies with her and getting that sweet research alliance for some nice mid-game science pretty much what you should be doing is like the irs you need to give them money to get them off your back or in that case probably get sent to alcatraz like some other gangsters but yeah give delegations immediately on founding and you will save yourself a world of trouble and now it is time to get into tip number five the magnum opus of this top five list and that is building cities too far away now this is something that i'm sure most people don't know about and even if they do that's something they almost definitely don't practice but essentially the american frontier was a wild west of crime and native raids there were no big cities and you'd have to wait thousands of miles for resupply to come and residents would be living through hell and it was just not a fun time to be alive so why would you do that in game anything goes wrong with that city and it's going to make like spider-man and infinity war and just get reduced to atoms if someone declares war on you and your 10 turns away from moving to resupply the city the city's gone unless you have like 500 gold in order to buy a couple units the city is immediately going to die and even if you do like why would you not just keep cities closer and save that money in the first place i understand you might be afraid of the ai taking those city spots but in all likelihood as long as you have enough room for 10 cities you should be you should be fine honestly and the benefits of building cities closer together are immense number one you'd have extra district adjacency which is great for civs like germany or japan the more districts you have near each other the more yields they will provide and districts pretty much provide most of science culture and gold yields anyway and considering that you don't want too much food in your cities upwards of 10 population most of the time isn't really worth it there really is no drawback of ever really putting your cities a lot closer together than usual but not to mention industrial zones and zoos provide bonuses to all adjacent cities the closer you keep those cities together the more benefits you're going to have in general and that isn't even taking into account the fact that cities that are far away are really hard to defend uh but honestly you should be thinking like the hunger games capital in that movie take resources from all your nearby cities through factories and zoos and research labs just get all those nice bonuses with magnus's vertical integration rather than just leaving the cities alone and fending for themselves like the wild west frontier just don't do anything else that the hunger games capital does i guess now i know i said this is gonna be a top five list but it's almost christmas and i feel like i'm in the giving spirit so i'll give one last super important super big tip that everybody can make use of and that is subscribing to the sieve lifer channel for those of you who don't know before napoleon absolutely stuck his dingaling inside of the entirety of europe he actually liked and subscribed one of the civ lifers video which did allow him to run havoc throughout the entirety of europe until the english empire did the same exact thing and they were back on the even playing field and waterloo happened but uh yeah that's pretty much going to be it for me let me know down below what you guys thought of these tips and exactly what other videos you want to see in the future and i'll see you all in the next video peace you
