A mate (English) and I (Irish) had this running thing where we'd to try to outdo each other with horrifically insensitive and inappropriate jokes about the historical Irish/English relationship.
The problem was we'd forget that other people weren't necessarily always in on this joke, and would overhear.
So we're in this pub, in the arseholes of the back of beyond of Kerry, the locals are regarding us with some suspicion and a bit of hush but we're settling in for a few pints nonetheless. And my mate looks around, shakes his head and loudly tells me how "it must have been very trying for his people to make the likes of this type of crowd pay their rent payments promptly".
I was so impressed by the level of offensiveness that I forgot that I wasn't the only one that heard this.
Something of an awkward silence ensued, where I'm trying not to crack up laughing and he's swiveling his head about looking disapprovingly.
Maybe it's because I am from the west of Ireland, but Irish folk music means Sean Nรณs singing to me. Like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxjvNUNXhkU
This video is rebel music.
A fantastic stand-up performance, more of.
Haha, this is great. I just realized the similar sound to Jack Black and this guy's song at the very end.
Absolute unit. Loved it
This the GOAT Irish folk song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yaS3vaNUYgs
Canadian Irish folk music sound like this:
Catch the wind
Go to sea no more
Rollin' of the sea
You can definitely hear some similarities, as the Irish settled the eastern coasts and took inspiration from their new surroundings.
God i love this band, and I'm not even Irish heritage(my Quebecois wife is though). I'm simply an Acadian maritimer with a love for good music.
That was pretty hilarious.
This is still my favorite...
