Church of God of Prophecy, Trelawny | Parish Convention 2022 | Day 3 | Afternoon Session

day of meeting the rain has just come down but let us be hopeful remember our theme for this convention is Journey in faith through the power of the Holy Ghost so we are going to go through this afternoon and Faith depending on God to take care of us to lead the way for us I just want to endorse the welcome that was given before and to say oh happy am I to have you brothering all from near and far coming in this afternoon for today's session as was said in the welcome we have with us one of our Youth and Young Adult Ministries director in the person of Minister Lyra Hutchinson we're extremely happy to have you here with us sir you will always been a blessing and a friend of us and we really appreciate your coming year with us today also we have with us Bishop Morrison Maurice I'm going to be introducing him a little more when he gets in the he got here just underneath of the time when the rain started so he's just making some final preparation to be in but inside no R is wife and daughters I'm going to be asking them to stand sister Morris Alia and Alejandro let us put our hands together for them we're extremely happy to have them they're coming from all the way from Kingston more to the East and they experience what we are experiencing now since yesterday and um so when they left they had a little Sun so they to as it were took the rain down here with them with their for us you know I'm sharing during the youth session later on but I'm going to be asking him at this time just to bring a greetings foreign bless the Lord show to Hallelujah again with me it's so good to be here today it was a it was a wet Drive coming down we had some rains in well overcast in Saint Catherine but um I decided that I would be here today we were supposed to have a training with Saint Anna and angelani well naturally Saint Anne youth directors but that was postponed during the week and so I decided yes at least I can come to Thrill on his first convention right why would I want to miss this first convention and I'm so proud to know that the Parish of trelawny is on its way whenever I speak to the youth leaders I always try to encourage them especially the ones of trelawny the parish directors because I know it's a new parish as in your on your own and I know the Lord is with you so as you journey by faith I just want to you know again greet my good friend your bishop and his administrative team and all the leaders of trelawny as you continue your convention we look forward to great things and we look forward that the Lord will indeed have his way God bless my opening of the convention I said as we set out on this journey we must have a focus and developing their focus and as we journey we know we are not journeying in vain because there is a reward at the end there's a song that's just been done says we shall have a new name in that land in that land that Sunny Sunnyland we shall have a new name we are looking forward to that and I want to say as John 3 and verse 2 said he that ah is open him purify himself even as he is pure brothering we add a certain ship in our life starting the latter part of 2019 intensified very much in 2020 on and Beyond in every sphere of our lives there were changes and they have been changes and as we go forward we are going to recognize that more and more we have got to change even as a church even in the way we do ministry so therefore today we want for us right here in Tulane to give Focus to give attention to our mission our ministry as we commit ourselves to serve the Lord on this journey therefore with us today to share with us under the topic the mission of the church in today's society is Bishop Paul Morris Bishop Paul Morris is not a stranger to many of us here in chulani it is for me my brother who is of a different parent he served at the William Memorial High School as a teacher he is by heart an educator and a missionary he served in several areas of mission in student Ministry and also in his church the New Testament Church of God is an ordained minister and currently serves as a national community outreach and special project coordinator of the New Testament Church of God he also serves as the pastor of the early Church in clarindon I'm going to ask you to help me welcome our friend our brother Bishop Paul Morris as he shares with us at this time foreign thank you all right uh you did what I was about to tell you to do that you could be seated let me greet the Church of God family particularly the Church of God of Prophecy family we are one family and for those of you who know the Mission history of the church we were all born in 1886. did I hear amen I'm here today as a missionary and a missionary pretty much as a historian and we we operate from the past and the present it was I think one of our first national hero who said a people who does not know or do not know their roots are pretty much are twice defeated in the rest of life I think he kind of coined that in relation to our ethnicity all right that is black the black race who does not know its root is twice defeated in the race of life let me use this opportunity to not just greet you generally but to greet the parishes of trelawny a parish that to whom out to which I owe a lot of my adults formation it was in this Parish I recommitted my life at age 21. to the Lord with the under the influence of my friend now your Bishop Bishop Lambert Pearson while I served as a teacher a geography teacher at the William neighbor High School and I always like to tell the story just to and courage and to challenge people and to allow you to recognize that there is no room for excuse or there is no room for escape for you if you are a believer I recall shortly after arriving at the William neighbor High School I saw this Gentleman on the corridor one day and he greeted me and I'm not sure what was the concern or are they the heart of the conversation but he said to me are you a Christian and I looked at him and I said it depends and that is where I lost the battle because if you're a Christian you are a Christian it depends on nothing if you are a Christian you're a Christian and that conversation blossomed into conviction and that condition resulted in my recommitment and today over close to 30 years later I'm standing strong in the ministry alongside him putting us together for Bishop Pearson now time will not permit me to tell you a lot that I've learned from Bishop Pearson and also to tell you some of the the struggles and the challenges our friendship and relationship has been through but what I can say to you in a summary is that that many more if many more men and women in the faith had friends like Bishop Pearson their lives would be far far better than it is today and it is not too late put your hands together for him I am by no means uh put off by the size of the audience and the weather because I have learned from scripture and the admonition of Paul which says as he spoke to Timothy preach the word in season and out of season reproof rebuke correct with all long-suffering and so if one person hears me this afternoon and acts upon what they hear I can guarantee you that trelawny will not be different sorry will not be the same and I can say that safely that more at least 25 percent of this congregation will go away and do something about what they hear the time given to me I am aware of it and so let me just move quickly into my presentation this evening as I listened and watched last night as a bishop senior delivered I got a little cold feet but I was I reminded myself but I was not on the program as a main speaker because obviously you would be yawning by no but I can say to you I did enjoy myself last night from a distance and I was hoping that there'd be somebody on the platform to dance tonight but I guess you'd have to bring back the bishop um for to have the dancers I I'm going to be talking with you this evening or this afternoon rather and I want you to make notes if you if you if you need to and if there is opportunity to ask questions I'd like for that to happen I also want to acknowledge those who are on social media and those who are watching us from overseas and across the parish and across the Caribbean we want to welcome you to this uh Parish convention and to this session the task that I have this afternoon is to bring some light to the theme the mission of the church in today's society and I thought about it for some time and I said but everybody knows what the mission is but I felt like a teacher that I needed to Define some terms and to make some Concepts clear so that the ideas that you already have and the knowledge that you have you can fit them in nicely and also just to motivate you to do something about what you already know I want to start out by saying by addressing a number of questions in fact let me just share them with you one what is it the church secondly what is its mission thirdly what is society and what is the by in La by by extension the Caribbean Society what is it really to deliver little into that and then what has changed and the impact of missions sorry what has changed and the impact of the mission what has impacted is it so how has the change impacted the mission of the church we all know that the church is the body of Christ and that's a good definition to start with can I just share with you that although the the word church or comes from a Greek word Ecclesia Ecclesia the word in its original ecclesion is original form has nothing to do with church at the Church of Jesus Christ it is just a Greek word and the fact that the New Testament scriptures were written in Greek that a word was found to represent the church so that we need to dig a Little Deeper to understanding what we mean and we say the church or the Ecclesia because there really was in Greek society and Greek politics they called out people this was a set of people in Greek society who have had a special responsibility uh in terms of decision making for the society as a whole let's run the parallel so when the word church is used there's an implication that that called out set of people they are special they are peculiar and they have a specific or a particular responsibility what is this responsibility they are called out of their own Society by a higher power and they have responsibility to the body that they are called out from so my brothers and sisters the church therefore is that called out body of Christ or of the Lord with a particular responsibility to the body from which they are called and so This Is How We Now understand the church and its mission so the the responsibility or the role of the church becomes the mission of the church and so when Jesus prayed in the high Priestly prayer in John chapter 17 this was his prayer I pray that you take them not out of the world but that you keep them in the world say therefore means that although there they were a particular group of people they were not otherworldly they were in the world but the world was not in them and so they had a higher responsibility than just to exist with the society or with the world they had a responsibility towards those who the world lived and dwelled in built in so my brothers and sister let me go on a little further by saying that this Gathering was also referred to as the assembly in historical times before we had a parliament we had what was called an assembly and the assembly was was constituted of particular Planters so so the triloli was one of the wealthiest uh parishes or places in Jamaica in the colonial times and there was an assembly uh that was for Jamaica the Jamaican assembly and there were Rich Planters who were part of this assembly before we got back to what was called Crone Colony government so the Jamaican assembly had people taken from different parts of Jamaica and their responsibility was to see to the welfare and to advance the business of the plantocracy are you with me Church so the church in the parallel has or is that body that assembly that carries the responsibility of seeing to the welfare of all the citizens of Earth all the peoples of Earth so Jamaica was a Crown Colony Jamaica was a a position of the British Monarchy of which Queen Elizabeth is a hero and so everybody who lived there the slaves the indentured workers the Planters they ultimately were answerable to the queen the church is answerable to someone higher and so the church described as the body of Christ in other words the churches are connected to God through Jesus Christ the church is divine is this is described as the bride of Christ in other words we have a relationship with Christ and those who are a part of the body of Christ though becomes responsible for all creation and so my brothers and sisters we have a problem with labels there is a problem with labels and we will have to learn to live with these labels I'm speaking particularly about the label of denomination and so the Church of God of Prophecy emerged out of the Church of God and the Church of God emerged out of congregational and Baptist Churches at that time that created the union and then eventually it got a name there's a problem that we must I address very early even in my presentation and that is the problem of labels the body of Christ has no labor oh yes it has a label it's called the bride of Christ and so the mission of the Church of God of Prophecy in trelawny is not just to the eighth or nine churches in the parish but it is to everyone who needs to know Jesus Christ I don't get an applaud for that one I'm waiting for it thank you thank you you're up to my auntie so so when we look at 123 tells us that the the church is headed it is the body of Christ the members of the body are all Christians so the church is made up of Christians in other words you have no accepted the wedded name of Christ and therefore although we were referred to by this as a nickname we now carry the same surname you are Christian don't tell me when I ask if you're a Christian that you are you know some people like to say I am I am not going to be be divisive here but instead of saying yes they give the label or the title of their church or the denomination to say that they are A peculiar Christian I don't know of any labor that makes the body of Christ peculiar apart from the name Christian if you want to take it a little deeper you could say sins of Christ that's a little longer just say I am a Christian I hear a lot of people talking about oh I'm a son I'm not a servant I have not been able to understand that theology yet and so if you are part of this body we are here about responsibility and Mission let me look my brothers and sisters quickly at the matter of society what do we mean to say the church and Society let me let me just get those two definitions out of the way if we are really going to be able to understand and to forward and to and to make progress and to to to to to to advance that's the term I want our mission as a church we need to know where or to whom or to where we have been called if he title of the presentation assumes the fact that the church has a mission that engages Society the sociologists the Merriam Webster dictionary gives a couple of them I just share a couple with you before going for one it's a voluntary Association of individuals for common ends that's what they call Society let me say that again it's a voluntary Association of individuals for common ends secondly especially an organized group working together or periodically meeting because of common interests beliefs and professions another definition is this and through interaction together the mission of today's society requires us as a church to understand the society in which you function and we function and that Society could start from a community to a parishion and to the world in Matthew 28 18 A lot of people call it the Great Commission but we think it is evangelism Matthew 28 18-20 is where we have a Biblical understanding one of the places of what the mission of the church is now when we speak about Mission we're talking about ah we're talking about an activity that is engaged in by permission excuse me it says an activity or an affair that one is engaged in by Authority in other words you cannot have a mission without two things one without Authority and without power these two things Authority and power now the question is what is the role of the church in a society whose authority and power does not come from the church are you with me why do I say this because if you happen some of you in your workplaces begin to talk about God your boss will give you the letter and if you speak too much about Jesus in the classroom the principle will send for you and you may be brought to the board but when there is an act of violence or I I what we call a situation to operate to deliver our mission by by in the on planet Earth so it's like one having a license but no having a motor not having a motor vehicle or having a motor vehicle and not having a license you need both of them you need Authority you need transport Authority uh to to give you the transport Authority but the the ministry uh yes of Works yes child support and works to authorize your license to drive and then you need after that license to go to a Car Mart with a news a new a new or a used car dealer and to get one the believer or the church is given both the authority and the power to operate a fulfilling his mission but you said to me so what therefore is the mission of the church permit me to elaborate a little bit on the authority and the power Jesus declared before he ascended he said all authority has been given to me no let me let me tell you something this guy is a Christian 24 7. I'm a Christian on the plane and I'm a Christian in the airport I'm a Christian on my way to the airport and I'm a Christian on my way from the airport I am a Christian in my home and I'm a Christian at work I am on the full Authority because the scripture says all authority has been given to me that all is not just the amount of author that I have but where I have the authority that you need to leave the rent house that you live in can I tell you the authority of the license that the church gets how in other words once you're licensed you're licensed not to kill but you are licensed to live and for as long as you're alive that Authority has been given to you I know we want to come down to application and practical term but just look at the society in which you operate so if you are authorized and you are polarized as they said other Jamaicans say they know how do you operate in the environment that you're called let's look at it in this audience we have high schoolers primary schoolers we are professionals we have uh we have government workers we have a private sector workers we have self-employed people we have people who live in town people live in the country we have a diversity in the church here and in the body of Christ what that is saying to us my brothers and sisters I forgot my rag is that God has strategically placed his children or his body everywhere in the world and so the idea of a church being a building our location thank you or a location or the church being some Society grouping would not match with the power it has it's like giving a manner the power that is given to the church cannot be just to have a good marriage cannot be just have respect in the community it is more than that it is being given the magnitude of an atomic bomb to operate in farm of the Lord you know what's going to happen after a while salvation will be blown off the map but you have been given that Authority that is without limit and that Authority my brothers and sisters allows you and authorizes you to operate everywhere let's look at the authority now the power of this authorization the ability to discern and to understand the communities in which you live and I use the word Community Loosely here because it is referring to groupings that the community could be the geographical Community it could be the academic Community it could be the business Community it could be the Learning Community whichever of them you're a part of you have been given Authority and enough power to operate there you know why only people who get a certain amount of subjects go to Utech because that your authorization into that community do you know why only certain people sit on the platform at certain times it because of the amount of authority given to them to operate in that sphere and that Authority when given by man may be given and taken at will if a once given always given never taken back in fact when a man walks away from Christ and becomes powerless it is not God who has taken away his power he has abandoned his authority and power and he grows cold because he has cut himself off the authority that he has been given is that amen okay so let's look at the society so students operate in student Society but with the power of God in them and so your children can understand their mission in school because that is their community the people who live in your geographical community it doesn't matter the size of their houses you are a citizen of that community and you are authorized to tell your neighbor about Jesus if you are in the medical fraternity or you are in a uh the the the the the the which I call it now the security Society or or fraternity you have by virtue of qualifying by the world standard no bring your power and your Authority in Christ into that environment my brothers and sisters I want you to understand this the society is not what you read about in the green on a Sunday morning on a Sunday afternoon the society starts from the grouping inside your house when you raise your children with the authority that God has given thank you so much what you're saying is that I'm seeking to understand the society we have pre-teen girls and we have to learn how to function in the pre-teen environment we need to ask them questions we get down and we ask them things and we want to learn about their environment why do we want to learn about it because they want to equip them having received Christ equip them through parenting to become dynamites in their age group and in their environment can I say this church if the church only has Authority inside the building we have missed the definition of church if the church only speak in tongues when you get together and are having a great convocation we have missed the use of our power and the meaning of what it means it will be called to society so Jesus said in Matthew 28 18 go into all the world the extent of our work is global if you speak only pathway or English it doesn't change the fact God can produce translators if we bring you into Haiti if he brings you to French or Germany or he brings you to Brazil you don't have to worry about what you're going to say because God will have already had his body work with you in accomplishing his purpose let's move on my brothers and sisters so the the societies that we are a part of our where God has called us to serve there are some people who want to serve as Bishops but they have never functioned in school there are some people who want a function who are to serve uh you know in in in in missions overseas but nobody ever knew in their community that they know Jesus it doesn't work that way you're called to your immediate community and that's where God wants to prove you before he can move you here you hearing me Church all right thank you so let's look quickly at the society so the Caribbean Society the Jamaican Society has some maker let me tell you quickly one our society as a language our society has a culture and that may include music and literature and the Arts our society involves geography in other words people live opportunity and lower trelawny there are people who live at town and some people who live in Westmorland that's our society is made up our society is made up of economic systems so we are the private sector and the public sector are you with me oh Society is made up of an education system and so you have kindergarten and preschool early childhood and you have University of your postgraduate degrees we have people operating inside there and we at our society as a social system how we raise our families how we live in community these are parts of the society how does the church operate in them let me tell you a little quick little story when I went to University I was a Church of God youngster two years after he committed my life to Christ by the second year by the first end of the first year I felt that pug in my heart to missions I didn't fully understand what mission was about but when I heard it there was a Caribbean Conference held on the campus of the universe of the West Indies and I remember Frank govaya because this will go viral he spoke to us from haggai about Holiness if God is going to use you you have to be holy and so God asked him to go down to the priest and to get some answers about holiness and for the very first time I began to I understood that missions was not just about doing things but being things and I make the point to say to us that the church cannot function in society unless it is Holy it will never be able to lead the society if it sees just as far as a society I'm preaching now but I'm going to come to the point and so I understood that if I am going to be able to travel with the gospel it is not just about my ability to speak a language it is not just about my ability how to build friendships but it is my personal holiness you know what number seven says you know in the new in the Church of God in our Declaration of faith we believe that Holiness number 7 14 14 articles number seven we believe that whole in Holiness and that it is the standard of living for all believers so we say here that if the church is going to impact Society the church cannot look like Society The Church Must understand the intricacies the complexities but the church cannot be like society and so when I tell my daughters when you go to school your friends must know that you're Christian they hold their accountable when you're on the job when you're doing your driving classes you must ensure that they nobody tried to tip you off and try to try to buy the license from me they must drive for the license if you work in a government department or government office you must not take money under the table to offer services that are free because if that pains the whole Holiness of the church the body of Christ but you may say it's only one of us it's only one person take one drop of ink to change the chemical composition of water one drop of poisonous cyanide in water to make it it might not look as if it is uh it is contaminated but it is The Church Must understand Society but the church must understand itself through its Mission the church disqualifies itself when it fails to operate in accordance with the tenets of its Mission and so the goal of the church at the midst of literature is to make disciples at the end of the day it is to Make Disciples of Christ are all of us preachers no Paul says is the head if the head says to the hand I am not the hand so I have no need of you can it work they absolutely no the church church is a complex not complicated body it has many parts so some are teachers some are sweepers some are linguists and translators some are prophets some of them are are administrators some of them are youth workers some of them are children Church some of them are greeters at the gate but they all function in order in a particular way to differentiate themselves from what society looks like so let's now move into a time is running out let's move in Segway into how we converse eight I know Bishop Pearson love it I've been so long around in that I know and my wife also and this is what it says has he shown you oh man the King James says what does the Lord what does he say require of thee oh man I'm reading from another version and the new international version Micah 6 verse 8. all right so let me just read that again thank you thank you Bishop for us assisting he said Micah 6 and verse 8. what is good and what do it the Lord require of the or to do justice and to love mercy and to walk humble with thy God okay so in a nutshell this is the question what is God's requirement of his church what is God's requirement of his body so when he say oh man he's referring to every man of God every woman of God every child of God it can be summarizing this let me give you the summary and then I explode it uh before I close one he says to love Mercy he could settle of Justice you know to love Mercy the world and the society in which we live is merciless we see it that we we heard it in the news just over the weekend or earlier in the in the weekend of a 13 year old boy and I will not repeat but what he did to that nine-year-old girl not only that he was imprisoned for four years or locked up in for four years detained for four years or whatever it is before a sentence and the social inquiry report that this young man showed no remorse that's what you call merciless I I hear a DJ call himself merciless but he said he died of a broken heart which which suggests that he had a heart but this 13 year old boy had no heart this is what God has called this church to to mediate how does this look practically look around you open your eyes and look around you I don't remember which DJ said that and she how many boys and girls are in our communities you know sometimes in our very own yards and homes in our districts that have never been to a Sunday school class the church have worked for though I know I'm on social media and I need to behave myself but when I say to your church we have straight on him quits all Ministries convert all the resources and send them to reaching boys and girls Auntie Monica be proud of me tonight to reach them then we would say we understand our mission in society because we live in a merciless Society how does the church fix the world we must love Mercy we must love Mercy the Bible says blessed are the merciful for they shall be called the children of God for they shall obtain Mercy and so this is a practical application the survey shows that 48 of our homes have no Father Figure whether you say it's more than 50 so praise God for 38 it only takes one sniper to bring down New York Italian takes one person who has been brainwashed by the devil to destroy an entire Community it man who felt this to wipe in the most gruesome way where do we think we went wrong the church's mission to society I'm going to give you two more on clothes has been aborted it has been compromised we have become more preoccupied with convention love this convention and I love what my my my friend is doing and I have always challenged him to say you got to do some different things if you want some different results but we have we have become so preoccupied with ourselves that we forget Society the church is so self-consuming that we forget that we have a mission beyond the walls of the building I know that this church is long and coming I know the past that we have been friends for over 30 years I know the hard work but you don't see hard work yet 30 years from now if anybody's a living you would know whether or not this work between this church is hard or the work of the church in salt marsh it's really hard I was sent as a missionary to a church in southern Clarendon and I went to the community and I said to them there are 21 members in the church 80 of them are over 60. and I said to the church call up everybody in the community I don't know we are going to get food but send for everybody send them out at the night we had over 25 adults and 64 children put them together for me because that's all finished 64 children in a Country Place can land Sugar Land you know people live far apart 64 children and they are more recorded that is those who are we we had actually recorded some came but they came in time for food so we kind of never got to count them but what I'm saying to us here the church's mission is waiting on us because back to which we are called is still present people are dying with all Christ the society is living a nice Edge it's a merciless Society we said if you step on my feet my foot I will stab you to death if you don't respect me if you don't regard me I will cut your throat at night the church's mission is to change that I wonder sometimes if our mission seem to childish and that is why we preoccupy ourselves with adults squabble over positions like the two disciples and their mother Jesus had to bring a little child in their presence and say unless they be like these little children you can't inherit the kingdom of God the second thing is that the church is called to well that in addition the church is called to show people the mercy Giver you cannot have mercy on nobody because you're also guilty we are all so guilty so we are under the mercy covering Under The Mercy Seat and we are saying to people coming at this come come the storm is coming come run for Mercy come get blood covering we recognize recently that a large number of our crimes that have been committed they are mixed with the occult they are mixed with human blood and animal blood because the devil always have a counterfeit Mission rather than our children knowing that Jesus died for their sins they believe that they can buy obia they can buy all kind of Witchcraft they can buy God rings and they have to kill somebody to retrieve a gathering it is okay merciless Society secondly God has called the church to walk in humility how does the church act in the world we can't out to the world we are trying to buy cars to show that we are yeah Bishop Pearson we are with that we have money too nobody no need to boost our foreign I went to University I went to Seminary it is my money and nobody can tell me how to use it but can I tell you that the mission of the church is a mission of modeling the mission of the church in society it's a mother Jesus Christ he was only able to afford a borrowed a donkey just before he died put your hands together if you understand what I'm talking about [Applause] hurry up pastors telling people that if God don't give them Jet Plane then God is going to shut down their Ministry if they don't get private jet can I talk to the church because the contamination is up on our Shores the prophecy church is not a immune to it the Church of God is Not immune to it God has called his church to look like him when the world look at us they must say you are different oh you must say those are the people who turn the world upside down are coming down are coming on Bishop Pearson I'm coming down so the mission of the church is to reflect Jesus we're too proud reactor full of ourselves humble yourself manner buy a liquor car you don't have to buy the biggest water stop at three four bedroom you don't need to build a castle give some of that to the church give some of that to the work of the ministry did somebody that there's somebody in school struggling give some with lascochin Foundation I'm working with Operation Safe Jamaica and a number of other organizations they have no reason to give people money some may say they're doing it because it's a marketing Ploy but if we are going to say that the question is what are we giving are we giving our time are we giving our tithe or are we giving our talent some of us are ashamed of ourselves and we are docking in this spirit because we know it's you me talking to all right so humble yourself what does humility looks like humility looks like Jesus so Jesus touched a dead cough a cough of a dead boy people come out of name Jesus associate with sadness your humility you have to go a funeral I know someone's love funeral but we must go with that reason we must go to show empathy we must go to show our Humanity we must go to show our solidarity people must know that even though nobody in their family no seek you are touched by people's sickness and people's sorrow because if Jesus Can Be Touched by the feeling of Holy Spirit and we are the body of Christ Our full everybody will feel it when you feel pain the church must feel pain when the scalable I get killed we must celebrate as a good if he did we must ball as a God not another one we are too proud the church is too proud The Church Must associate with people of low estate that is what Paul said in if in in in Romans chapter 12 condescend to Men of low estate you can look for the old man we can hardly be it himself who don't bother to wash his spot when he's finished cooking because they don't have enough water how do we leverage our mission that God has called us to do we look like Jesus when we are doing missions or are we so decorated and not troubling the praise and worship team are we so decorated and so elevated that everybody wants to be like us because we are like Superstars we are the pop stars rather than looking like they're broken and the beaten body of Jesus Christ the mission of the church because here we need to Humble ourselves this is a big church and this may be the biggest church in trelawny right the biggest new um not New Testament I want to take it away but the biggest prophecy Church in July right we'll just finish it probably may be the largest one so let me talk to the congregation here humble yourself see here humble yourselves God did not bless you for you to boast God blessed you to serve they are the more room for the children don't scull it all and up at salt marsh and over the over the community I don't know what the name is it will have more space for children and young people to run up and down on a Friday evening it will have a place where activities are God's Central activities in the community can happen here humble yourself Bishop purville and Company finally God says we are called to dispense Justice Justice it's a dangerous thing right only a judge is permitted under the lawn Constitution who is a human being to execute Justice if the church is not pure if the church is Unholy you're in danger of the Judgment of God Justice demands that you must die how do you handle that the Bible says for all have sinned and Justice require a just response that is why in the Old Testament an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth was just it has not changed but if you execute Justice in accordance with real Justice then you will not be there to see the end of it because you would have to do what judge yourselves first to dispense Justice is one of the things that God has called this church to do it is to call out the unjust stewards the unjust the Injustice in society when poor people cannot get Justice in court because lawyers require a retainer fee that they never get from their working any one time in their heart that's Injustice the church will speak out against it when political party is use monies that were designated for the country the taxpayers money The Church Must open his mouth and say we want Justice when we see poor people being boxed about treated children young children because their parents are teenage mothers they themselves become teenage mothers and our comment is that them to lose and let go that's not justice justice means that you have to make a sacrifice he said God is the only righteous judge if the only no sacrifice him just kill but we have to kill something for justice to happen we have to give up something for justice to happen the church has to move Beyond his comfort zone the church need to be our right in the in the papers the church need to protest peacefully the church need to do something to undo some things teach us in the classroom some of the things that you have been asked to do you need to talk to your supervisors about that it's not just when you tell kids that they can't exams because they don't have the money when we tell children that they cannot come to school because can we do this Justice thing God requires us to be just in our dealings just in our business dealings just in our family relationships just in our marriages just in the community even if your family member is the same party as you and the stuff needs to be given to the poor especially when we have these times of weather give it to those who are to get it and don't hold it for your family members who are over in Westmoreland who don't need it Justice is required of the church I want to close by saying that the mission of God to the society is possible because God has sent his son he has done everything to his son that he requires us to do he allowed him to suffer hunger he allowed him to suffer pain he allowed him to suffer loneliness he allowed him to suffer rejection until there's no excuse that the church has in his mission I know some of us will want to go overseas to do stuff but the same thing you're doing here it's only that you have to take a plane the mission of the church is the love Mercy to do justly how to act justly and to walk humbly before your God we have cater to the physical emotional and Spiritual Development of Our Youth and Young Adult in the parish we have several programs and activities in place some of which were not able to execute because of the novel Corona virus covid-19 that has affected us deeply as a church we had to adapt to a new wave and a new Norm in spite of the many challenges we faced as a Parish Yaya Ministry Ministry were able to torment on the Lima activate your gift through the power of the Holy Spirit it was a wonderful time in the Lord with Dynamic worship sessions presentations how to manage your finances as young people how to activate your gift through the power of the Holy Spirit we had power pack preachers from our very own local youths where eight persons were filled with the Holy Spirit we also had sessions where our youths were able to highlight their businesses some of which were birthed out of the pandemic to had we also host what was the first of its kind in trelawny and that was our quarterly Friday night Youth and Young Adult Ministry link up this was held at the house of blessing Church of God of Prophecy where we had two sides Warriors for Christ are you here and ambassadors for Christ going head-to-head in various side activities the next you link up is scheduled for next month Young Adult Ministry in trelawny continue to see the importance of prayer and fasting so we host every first Saturday of the month prayer and fasting service currently being held online under the theme we pray and God delivers as we continue to journey in faith by the power of the Holy Spirit we want to recognize and appreciate all our youths you have been outstanding during the course of this journey put your hands together for yourselves we also want to pause to specially that you might be facing the Bible says faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of Things Not Seen without faith it is impossible to serve the Lord because firstly you have to believe that God exists even though you don't see him amen secondly you have to believe that God is a rewarder you have you you them that diligently seek him you have been seeking God praying for something and even though you don't see that thing with the natural eye yet you believe that you receive it already by your faith in God you have been praying for a person that is very sick and even though the person's sickness is getting worse yet you believe that the person is healed your faith in God is seeing that the persons is healthy and strong and ready to worship God the scripture said we walk by faith and not by sight amen but over but just and but we're just on confidence in the most high God David Spade David Spade told him that he could defeat a seven foot giant no David was a young man he was in his youth so he was probably either five feet tall or below and a seven feet ten inches giant no tell it to go up there but because his faith was so hooked up in God and he believed that God is there and he believed that he will be an overcomer he was Victorious amen Abraham's Faith told him that Abraham's Faith told him that God will provide a sacrifice and Elijah's Faith told him that he could call fire from heaven Jude once said we should build up our most holy Jude once as we said we should build up our Most Holy Faith by praying in the Holy Spirit the Holy Spirit enhances it makes our faith stronger as we pray as we pray in the holy spirit that is praying in unknown tongues as we pray in the holy spirit that is praying in unknown tongues prayed not to man but to God great faith or the gift of faith comes through the power of the Holy Spirit the more you deny yourself to the physical and get connected to the spiritual which is the Holy Spirit the more your faith in God will grow from the dead to the faith through the power of the Holy Spirit Paul's feet Paul through the Faith rebuked by Jesus and he became blind and Jesus Through the faith and the power of the Holy Spirit cast out Legion out of the out of who lived in the cemetery faith for the journey truly comes through the power of the Holy Spirit more prayer more prayer equals more power and no prayer equals National Youth Ministry our youth ministry rather is a special place in the church and we continue to embrace that place in the church the National Youth Ministry in in Germany you know that we have different arms in the National Youth Ministry one of which is campus link I don't know if well some of you must have heard about campus about campus link and that's specially for those who are in colleges and universities and so on so it's back to school and I spoke to the parish directors already about camposting so pastors and those persons who have members young people in different colleges especially in Kingston and universities I've sent a link to their Parish directors and just ask them to send it over to them so that they can fill out the form and we get in touch with them and keep them you know they're far from home and so we want to have a connection with them another thing is that we are on social media let me see the hands of those who are part of the Instagram page National Youth Ministry Instagram page all right so we will will change that as of today because I just uploaded a few pictures and a little video from your the convention youth session so yeah I forgot go on to the Instagram page let me see those over Instagram account all right cool cool so before the day is done we expect the same about roughly about 30 new likes and dirty new followers from trelawny all right on the Facebook page as well um I just want to to encourage your youth leaders as well put your hands together for Daniel and for yes yes parachute Ministry is not the easiest thing to be in charge of it doesn't matter if you have six churches or 60 churches people are hard to deal with but so far your parachute directors have been very good day and I will continue to work with them and I'm sure they will continue to work with us National Youth Minister Pastor Craig is not able to be here so she asked me to apologize for her I told her I would come because we couldn't just leave jilani standing on your youth session um alone today and so I just want to encourage you you lead us you know pandemic we are seeing the back of it I believe so I'm just encouraging you with two things get offline as much as you can and come back um get get get off and come back in person come back face to face as much as you can and just um you know enjoy youth ministry come back in the local churches have your youth ministry sessions many people sometimes they're not even a part of the sessions they're just log in are you not even seeing them you're not hearing them you wonder who is Samsung 5 and Samsung five all when the session is over and done Samsung 5 are the last person to come on you know you will know who is the who is not participating on Zoom you know that right sometimes sung some Fiber Samsung 5 is the last person the main done long time and poor Samsung 5 is still in the bathroom still having dinner still on Google doing something else and you have to say Samsung 5 we are you know five minutes ago we ended the meeting right so we we hope that Samsung five and all the other Samsung them will come in person for you minister so I'm charging my youth thank you for this God Genesis we thank you God for Beginnings we thank you God that you are doing something great in the Youth Department we thank you God that you are in charge of this youth ministry we thank you that the leadership of this youth ministry oh Lord they are looking to you God they're looking to you to lead them they're looking to you God to steer them in the right direction of them are discouraged some of them have no more strategies but above all God Almighty you are our strategy it doesn't matter what we learn God you are our way it's Hallelujah I pray that you will Hutchinson by name father you've placed them o God in a time on a season such as this to lead the people of this country oh god father even not God I pray that father you will anoint him afresh I pray God that you'll continue to use him for your glory I pray even know God that you continue to give him fresh insights and fresh Visions oh God as he continued to lead oh God your people I pray even now oh God that you'll blow his mind God I pray oh God you take his ministry to another level in the name of Jesus I pray God oh God that you'll give him the support I will give him the support that he needs in order to function and function effectively I pray God and even now you will order his steps Mighty God as your words declare that the steps of a good manner is ordered by the Lord I pray God for your favor upon him and even know God will come against every plans of the enemy we cancel and we abolish every plant of the enemy in the name of Jesus father we cover your servant under your blood if I know God we pray for Journey Mercy as we head back to Kingston mighty God we come against every incident and accidents and we pray God for your comfort your protection and your guidance
