Chipper Jones teaches switch-hitting

chipper take it away thanks Harold hey guys I'm super Jones that ball was crushed what a player dust off the seat for him in Cooperstown down here in Bradenton Florida with Team USA got a couple of switch hitters from Team USA here today and we're going to talk a little bit about switched it I've been a switch hitter my entire life since I was 7 years old Jones a switch hitter has one of the most beautiful swings in baseball a couple of things that I want to hit on with you guys is when you get to this level and let's say you're a natural right alright your weak side is your left side alright it is imperative that we take twice as many swings from your weak side as you do your strong side we've got to give both swings on par that's why Chipper Jones is an MVP q do it for both sides of the plate another great tip try and dumb things down trying to simplify things as much as you can you don't want 9 different swing thoughts or from this side 5 from that side let's try and keep it simple I have the utmost respect for you guys and has switched shooters for one reason I don't know why you got to put in twice as much work as anybody he said it from both sides of the plate with that being said those that's really what I wanted to impart upon you guys and I want to open up the floor if you guys have questions please hit me with do you tree each side Mike has an individual header or do you try to imitate what you do on the right side on the website if there are subtle differences I have a few more moving parts left handed I've always had the toe tap but I have a lot more movement from my left side long flowing swinging from the left side from the right side I was in tight kept my hands down a little bit a little more short and to the point from my right side chippers got his eye on the ball the whole way he gets great power to compact swing that's what makes him special but you're like most helpful drill for you play your right side of the tee and see remains the end-all-be-all for me the tee will tell you what you're doing wrong knowing we had this conversation earlier so many times you'll get a little out of kilter one way you got to go back to square one well square I wanted to see mentally or physically were there any differences for you changing from like the left or right side in the middle of the game it would be a challenge if I wasn't prepared for all right so I've already taken if I'm facing a righty and I'm taking the majority of my swings out on the field I'm getting in the cage early down underneath the tunnel to get my right-handed swing because I can tell you you're more prone to injury as a switcher than most other hitters because you go lefty lefty lefty all day and you're in New York and it's 40 degrees and it's cold and they turn you around to the other side and you go after a pitch your core is gonna feel the brunt of that if you haven't already warmed it up during the course of the day so stay loose for most times that's just a little bit of what we've been talking about down here with Team USA
