THE ITUNES APP STORE AND GOOGLE PLAY. NOW, THE VIDEO IS DRAMATIC, DARING, AND DOWNRIGHT INCREDIBLE. ALL EYES WERE ON MOUNT HOOD AS A HARROWING RESCUE PLAYED OUT THIS AFTERNOON, FIRST ON THE GROUND, THEN IN THE AIR. OUR COLE MILLER JOINS US LIVE NOW WITH A CLOSER LOOK AT THE AMAZING VIDEO. COLE: JEFF, IT WAS REALLY SOMETHING ELSE TO WATCH THIS ALL UNFOLD. THAT CLIMBER, AT THE SUMMIT OF THE MOUNTAIN, A MASSIVE CHINOOK FLYING TO THE PEAK, AND PICKING HIM UP. TONIGHT, EVERYONE IS SAFE, AND WE'RE HEARING FROM THE TEAM THAT JUMPED INTO ACTION. IT'S A TRUE TEST OF YOUR NERVES AND ENDURANCE. COLE: TODAY, THAT TEST PUSHING THE LIMITS OF BOTH MAN AND MACHINE. A CLIMBER AT THE SUMMIT OF OREGON'S MOST ICONIC PEAK, NEEDING RESCUED. CLIMBERS REACHING HIM THIS MORNING AFTER HE CALLED FOR HELP YESTERDAY. HE ENDED UP CALLING, BASICALLY SAYING HE WAS UP THERE, HE WAS GOING TO BE TAKING SOME MEDICATION. COLE: THE CLACKAMAS COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE SAYS THAT MAN, WHO IS FROM TEXAS, HAD NO PLANS OF COMING DOWN FROM MOUNT HOOD ALIVE UNTIL THAT CHANGE OF HEART. THIS TIME OF DAY, THE MOUNTAIN JUST STARTS TO FALL APART. EVERYTHING IS MELTING, ICE AND ROCK IS COMING OFF THE MOUNTAIN. COLE: THOSE TREACHEROUS CONDITIONS, CALLING FOR AN AIR RESCUE. THE OREGON ARMY NATIONAL GUARD SENDING THIS CHINOOK TO DO THE JOB. FLYING AT MORE THAN 11,000 FEET, WATCH AS THE PILOTS ARE ABLE TO SIT THAT TAIL END DOWN IN THE SNOWPACK. THE FRONT END, STILL HOVERING, A TEAM SCRAMBLING OUT TO GET THOSE RESCUERS AND THAT CLIMBER. AN INCREDIBLE FEAT LASTING JUST THREE MINUTES OR SO BEFORE TAKING OFF, AND BRINGING EVERYONE HERE. TO THIS FIELD IN WELCHES, UNLOADING THAT MAN ON A STRETCHER BEFORE LOADING HIM INTO THIS AMBULANCE WHERE HE WAS TAKEN TO A HOSPITAL. JOSHUA KRUSE WITH THE 304TH RESCUE SQUADRON, ON THAT MISSION TO THE TOP OF THE MOUNTIAN. -- THE MOUNTAIN. BECAUSE OF THE ANGLE, WE HAD TO CRAWL OUT THERE JUST TO GET UNDER THE ROTOR BLADES. IT'S KIND OF SURREAL BUT YOU JUST HAVE TO TRUST THAT THE PILOTS KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING. THE CREW IS TALKING THEM ON CORRECTLY. COLE: AND WE TIP OUR HATS TO ALL OF THOSE INVOLVED TONIGHT. THE SKILL, AND PRECISION, ALL COMING TOGETHER FOR A SUCCESSFUL RESCUE. WE'RE STILL WAITING TO LEARN WHO THAT MAN IS, BUT WE DO KNOW HE WAS ABLE TO WALK ON HIS OWN AND ISN'T INJURED. WE DID REACH OUT TO SEE IF WE COULD TALK TO ONE OF THOSE PILOTS, TO GET AN IDEA OF WHAT ALL IT TOOK. WE'RE HOPING TO HAVE THAT
