[Music] [Music] thank you what's going on island Hoppers today we're coming to you from Chiang Mai Thailand let's do it that's right Island Hoppers we came up to the northern part of Thailand to show you what's going on Chiang Mai the best place on Earth well we're about to find out Chiang Mai is the former capital of the Lana Kingdom and also the second largest city in Thailand so the area we're walking through right now is tafa gate this is actually the Old City Gate yeah we're walking through the gate into the old city walls here where you'll find lots of Buddhist history and culture you can see right here you have the old wall the brick right against the Waterfront there so as you can see by the weather in the sky it's a very beautiful day and up here in Northern Thailand in the mountains it's much more mild and here we are at the Chiang Mai gate portion of the Chiang Mai Old City wall this Old City here is actually 1.5 kilometers in square it's also built in the 12th century so it's very old and as you will see there's a moat that goes around the outside but inside the city wall you'll find many different temples which we're about to show you including wat cheddy Lang that will be a little bit later on in the travel video but for now we're gonna head out to the outskirts and see what's going on with the animals so we're here at my rim elephant home this is a place where you can do elephant CARE program and you change into the traditional clothes you can actually clean their feet and take care of the elephants this is like a sanctuary a place where you can take care of these big beautiful animals right here in the jungle so we're not going to actually do the program for 1 500 Baht per person because it starts at one o'clock and it's two hours we're going to the temple up on top of the mountain but we are going to feed these animals and uh show them some love we got puppies and elephants they grab it by themselves the other way the other way is excited to wait here we feed them directly inside mouth your whole fruit Walk The Elephant Show it on top and say the word one song The open mouth and put down hello hello good job the elephant don't have front teeth okay nobody so they cannot bite you I love elephants every time I got a chance to see some elephants in Thailand while I'm here I go and do it [Music] and not only do they love bananas but they also eat coconuts they just crack the coconut with their mouth it's amazing wow [Music] bye bye so after the elephant Sanctuary our tour guide Sunny he invited us to go to the long neck Village all right so our driver has taken us here to a place called The Long Neck Village we're going to check it out but she wants to sell me something she makes all this jewelry here tablecloths which one you want to give to me actually which one you like so now we've made it to the long neck Village I'm not too familiar with what's going on here but uh we're gonna walk around do some shopping it looks like there's actually a few long neck Villages up here in Northern Thailand and what it is is a place where the people still hold the tradition of putting a brass golden looking band around their neck which elongates their actual spine here you got a pinky ring 100 baht right here this one you help me she's making a uh scarf scarf yes yes it requires a lot of focus intense Focus in practice okay very nice [Music] so bring cash Hunter bot seems to be the going rate for a bracelet 20 Baht if you just want to tip someone just for showing you how to make one of the scarfs or something like that one for you okay thank you thank you okay well here at the long neck Village they brought us out here and uh it seems like a very interesting tradition that they're carrying on and you can get some jewelry sound wool I got a few bracelets you can see really an interesting cultural experience walking around the village talking to local very friendly place here at the ghost gate we've got some wood carvings all right now we're here at the king cobra and snake show there's a couple different cobra snakes that you'll see at this Cobra show including the king cobra but I'm truly amazed at the control this man has over the snake and he kisses it three plus three two one see you can do like this the proper the big the the dead skin very soft yeah yeah no problem now if it by you not hard you know it's just a small cheese yeah Chiang Mai king cobra yes right here big boy yes nice no bite it's funny sleep on the bamboo on the tree okay okay okay here at the king cobra show our friend right here come see her [Music] so we are at the temple called what fry thought DOI suthap Rancho Laria that's the name so I butchered it I know but let's go up here now we gotta walk this brick pathway all the way up to the top [Music] I don't know how many steps but it feels like a thousand so it's actually 306 steps I just asked the guy at the ticket counter and it's 30 Baht if you're a 400 going it chained up and it's not chained up and it's not drugs so you're basically in there with the fully aware big kitty wow big cat right here I'll tell you a Big Town the cat noticed that I was a bit scared of them so when I walked in he had his head up and then he put it down as if to say it's okay buddy come on in they have a variety of tigers here they have the Sumatran the Bengal and the Siberian tiger also Thailand has a wild tiger that exists in certain parts but it's a bit smaller than these Tigers all right it's Sunday night let's head down to the Night Market foreign we're down here at the night market it's Sunday night we're actually going to head over to the walking street so let's see what kind of excitement's down here right now in Chiang Mai you know [Music] well they got a food court down here so we're probably gonna get some food but we got to see what we're gonna get oh I got noodles with crispy pork belly see the Sunday Night Market gets very packed lots of people down here [Music] [Music] thank you this one very good thank you prices are incredibly affordable most things are under a dollar everywhere you look [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] and here we are watch Teddy Lang at night you can see this big huge tree right here look at this and here we are at the old Temple watch Teddy Lang right there beautiful weather outside right now it's around 70 degrees perfect Bill we got some nice medallions foreign and here's a look at our hotel right here in the heart of Chiang Mai at the Mercure and now we are headed to the Royal Garden in doycom [Music] foreign guys here we are at the Royal Garden we're gonna go inside and see what they got [Music] and here we are at the Orchid Garden I really like Orchid Gardens there's one in Singapore that's a UNESCO world heritage site but something tells me this Orchid Garden is going to be something special [Music] [Music] thank you [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] this huge Temple complex foreign
