Chiang Rai Thailand Travel Guide 4K

[Music] thank you [Music] what's going on everybody this is Island Hopper TV coming to you from Chiang Rai Thailand let's do it that's right guys we're headed to far north Thailand where we're going to check out some temples amazing natural sights and some great Thai culture up here in the north so here we are driving up to Chiang Rai from Chiang Mai and we're at the my kitchen Hot Spring chicken egg chicken egg five minutes boil some eggs I got water careful the splash on there all right let's check out these eggs it's been five minutes crack One open here a little hot hot hot thank you well see how they uh boiled ah yes perfect well I'm just gonna put a little soy sauce on there it's spring cooked chicken egg here in Thailand and now we'll keep this tour going as we're driving north it is about a two and a half to three hour drive and to the West is Burma or Myanmar and then to the East and North is Lao and nearby is an area called the Golden Triangle where Myanmar Lao in Thailand all Converge on the Mekong River and just outside of Chiang Rai here we have the white temple it's 100 baht per person for foreigners let's go inside what wrong [ __ ] is the actual name of this white temple and you'll see there's a bridge that symbolizes the cycle of rebirth and then after crossing the bridge you get to the Gate of Heaven and then into the golden building all of which have some symbolism relating to life death and rebirth in Buddhism and the white temple really is an amazing sight it shimmers in the sun making it one of the top temples you can see all around Chiang Rai and even across Thailand as we showed you in our previous video about Pattaya City they have the sanctuary of truth but up here in Chiang Rai they really do have some amazing temples which we will be showing you later like the blue Temple and some temples up on the mountains so definitely add the white temple to the list of places to check out one in Chiang Rai but what we're doing now is pulling into the town which is well known for its golden Clock Tower in the city center [Music] so now we are at the blue Temple just like the white temple both of these are very unique to Chiang Rai so this one doesn't cost anything at least I haven't been told but I have to pay anything so that's the benefit that this one has over the white temple and the blue Temple's official name is wat wrong sui 10 which is the Temple of the dancing tiger and the color blue is symbolic with Purity wisdom and lack of materialism that Buddhists aspired to become like and some quick history about this Temple the reason it's called the Temple of the dancing tiger is because an ancient Temple that once stood here is said to have had tigers that roamed freely around the grounds when it was abandoned nearly a century ago [Music] thank you foreign [Music] 45 minutes walking around the blue Temple we decided to head out towards singha Park [Music] [Music] all right we're at singha Park and we've rented a golf cart for 700 Baht that's two people they give you a wristband I've got it for two hours let's go explore Singh hot Park and in case you're wondering 700 Baht is around 18 depending on the currency exchange with the Thai baht in the US dollar as it is fluctuating white consistently lately foreign [Music] you don't actually need a golf cart you can take the hop-on Hop off bus that's a 150 Baht per person they say it takes around an hour and a half to do the whole park so just keep that in mind yep so first stop Swan Lake we're gonna feed fish here we go see what's in here [Music] and in case you're wondering what a Singh ha is or what singha means in Thai it's the mythical Golden Lion [Music] thank you [Music] well you know if you ever wanted to drive a golf cart through Northern thailands you know beautiful Hills and scenery in the jungle come to sing hot park because it's really one big park where you just drive a golf cart around I think we're going over here to a petting zoo all right I was wrong I thought this was the petting zoo but it turned out this is where you do zip lining and some other activities but they do have a petting zoo so if you have kids consider that you know here at singha Park in particular this little area I felt like I was in Wisconsin or someplace in the midwest the United States or even Germany or somewhere in the middle of Netherlands but nonetheless this was Thailand Highlands [Music] thank you foreign [Music] [Music] well it looks like we might be missing out on the petting zoo but they do have one here because we're uh missing out on that because we've only got two hours with this thing and if we're late it's on our bottom five [Music] [Music] foreign Park after a nice couple hours going around the countryside here we're headed to what Hui placang up on the mountain all right now here we are at what Hui blockang you can see the nine floor Pagoda and the big Buddha right here we're gonna walk around here there's 12 different structures to explore [Music] and this Temple Here is known as the big Buddha of Chiang Rai also known for its white statue of guanyin now this is in a Chinese style architecture since the white Buddha is of guanyin the goddess of Mercy [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] and yet again a very impressive Temple complex up here in Chiang Rai I do recommend this one as well so what we're going to do now is we're going to head to the city center and walk around the downtown area here in the evening time so we did get a tuck tuck for this journey to take us from our hotel to the city center which is where the Clock Tower is [Music] and while walking around the downtown area we had built up quite the appetite so we headed over to the Japanese restaurant where we got some chicken katsu and some soup foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] hey and if you're a cat lover you got to go over here to cat and cup where you can basically hang out with cats as if you're at a coffee tea shop or a bar and look at these people they're having so much fun [Music] and now what we're gonna do is we're gonna head into the Shanghai Night Market let's go inside foreign what do you guys think parking for a new hats well got a new hat let's do it but I will say I kind of want to sing ha hat foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] mine [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] thank you [Music] [Music] all right now we're here at the black house we're gonna go inside and see if we can get a tour if not we'll at least show you around this beautiful house so the black house or as it's known to Thai locals is the Bon Dom Museum now this is actually a temple complex or an art gallery created by the Thai artist Dawan duchani and the main goal of the house is to showcase the Thai style home up here in Northern Thailand so yes Bonn in Thai means home [Music] foreign it is 80 baht to come in here per person but I want to show you this really cocky guy over here think I've reached my limit here oh yeah and speaking of home let's show you around the hotel we stayed at here it's more like a jungle Retreat inside the city really and this hotel resort is called La Luna it's just outside the city center maybe 15 minutes away by foot but it did cost around 35 dollars per room which compared to other countries is exceptional pricing which we've been enjoying all throughout Thailand [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] and here we are walking around the central bus station you can get a bus from here to pretty much anywhere including Thai which is an area we didn't quite check out but if you're in Northern Thailand consider the Golden Triangle and Pie as well as Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai so some other things to consider when you're at the bus station but there is no train if you wanted to catch the train from here you would need to go down to Chiang Mai but the good news is they do have an airport up here we'll just show
