in today's video we're reviewing the cheapest bow on Amazon that's a take down bow imagine me cruising along in my 2004 Honda Civic let's get that out of my face it's a beautiful day just driving enjoying the weather and then it stops going so I sit there and I crank the key and I realize the fuel pumps not clicking on and the fuel pump is out so what do I do I pull and yank that fuel pump out of the car I go over to the dumpster and I'm about to throw it into the dumpster and then I realize we could make a bow out of this and then I realize there's a terrible idea so I throw it away when did it suck if the bow you bought the fuel pump went out metaphorically yeah that's why I'm reviewing a bow today so that you don't run into accidental problems after you've giving your money away let's get right into it check it when you go to buy a car there's a couple things you look at is it brand new is that not then maybe how many miles is on it is this vehicle safe is it comfortable I tend to hop on Google and say what are the most common problems for a 2004 Honda Civic at 150,000 miles and then it'll be like fuel pumps gonna go out and it's gonna tell you oh that's about the time to change this or this or some cars or transmissions going out stay clean so you can kind of preemptively look in the futures of your car doesn't break down with a major repair and that's what this video is for you guys with a bow the bow bow reviewing today is in the price range in between 100 150 dollars there's a couple different packages they generally fall around 129 dollars is the exact package I bought this bow is gonna be price range comparatively to the Samick sage one of if not the most I believe it's the most bought bow out there this bow is normally used for a beginner someone who's just starting out in archery and wants to buy maybe their first bow or the other application for this bow you might want it just to throw it in and go stump shooting or you might want it to go bow fishing freeze it in a place where if it gets dinged up or something you're not too worried about it let's jump right into the package and see what's in the bow of course we first have a riser we've got two limbs this package also comes with a bow stringer an arrow rest and an arm guard it comes with an allen wrench for the limb bolts it also comes with an endless loop D 97 bowstring but it does not come with a tab so you know where to get that so for taking from the car example let's run through all those things with this bow the history of this bow well clearly this one is a brand new bow so we shouldn't expect any pre owner to have made any mistakes with it there is something flawed from the beginning it's gonna be a manufacturing err so secondly let's go into the durability test how do you test a bow for durability well if you drop it on the ground is it gonna be okay is it gonna be okay outside for a little bit we try to take really good care of our equipment but what if you accidentally drop your bow so let's test that but let's go a little more extreme than just dropping it I was trying to think how to do a good durability test one of the ways to drop it on the ground the other way to do it earlier to do a durability test is to be able to throw this just down the hill about 30 yards so let's give it a shot ready 1 2 3 I got an arrow in faith that it still works okay that may seem crazy kind of silly yes yes the reason I do that is because fiberglass is so tough and I wanted to prove that point and I know well like hit the bush and didn't hit like concrete or something but the point is fiberglass is really tough these bows are made to be durable these limbs can withstand a ton but with that you still want to use it within the manufacturers recommendation so that you are safe but I think this bow will still work fine I'd say so Comfort is this bow comfortable to shoot the answer is kind of yes it's very comfortable on the drawback as it comes and then when you release there's a little extra vibration through the hand and I'm not sure if that is because of those metal housings something that's fascinating about these bow limbs is I set them next to a Samick sage bow and the limbs are identical like I literally could not tell a difference in these two limbs the only difference in the two limbs is how they house to the riser on the stanwyck sage it's just a limb bolt and in between the riser and the limb there's a little bit of felt on the knight bow there is no felt in-between the riser and the limbs there's a metal housing the limb goes into and I think this makes this bow kind of rattle and extra noisy later on at the end of this video I'm gonna try to modify the bow to make it more comfortable and we'll see how that feels but as it comes in the box I give the the draw like you know an eight or nine like extremely smooth draw and I find this with fiberglass bows the draw seems exceptionally smooth compared to wood bows but once you release the arrow it seems like sometimes are even worse than some wood bows on the hand shock talked about comfortability safety this bows new but what else what's the gas mileage on this bow gas mileage relates to speed for me how fast is this bow speed is a factor that's not the highest factor in most people's books but it is nice to have a fast bow so let's test that right now so I've gotten an arrow here that's just over ten grains per pound gonna shoot it through the chronograph to see how many feet per second we can get with this boat as a reminder the ball I'm shooting is 45 pounds so 177 feet per second that's a pretty respectable speed with that type of an arrow weight so I give that a thumbs up and then what commonly goes wrong with a bow like this probably nothing but there are a few things you might want to watch out for the plastic arrows I don't really like it I've only shot a couple hundred shots through it and that plastic is already wearing down this is the main reason I don't really like this arrow arrest is because on these arrows if they're wrapped in the front it starts to peel about wrapping off with this plastic arrow arrest which in the end will lead to the plastic peeling off and then the fledging peeling off if there wasn't any arrow wrap on the front of those fletchings I imagine it would just have already pulled off the fletching so that's the main reason I do not like these plastic arrests not prefer felt on the arrow shelf one of the things I don't like about this bow is the bowstring and I'm not just saying this because me and my company make and sell Flemish twist bow strings this bow strings not Flemish whist that's not the reason I don't like it I don't like it because they're serving section they make really really small they do a 6-inch serving section okay let's make a phone call real quick hey you got a quick minute yeah hey how long of serving sections do we do on our bow strings what this means is that if you have any string slap whatsoever that's right below the serving section or half on half off and that is due to maybe not perfect form or maybe you're wearing baggy clothes or something like that anyway with saying that I got some string slap on my arm guard and it starts to fray the string slowly but it makes sense they try to save on material a really short serving section but that's something I don't like about this bow but there are a few things you might want to watch out for just be careful you put the top limb on the top limb in the bottom limb on the bottom limb whenever you get a recurve bow like this whatever limb has the writing on it this one says 62 by 45 that's a 62 inch long bow 45 pound draw is how it is but that writing and the maker's mark is traditionally going to be the bottomland this always goes on the bottom limb if you get those limbs correct you'll be fine and then just make sure you don't string the boat backwards it's another thing you want to watch out for don't drive fire the bow what that means is drawing the string back and releasing the string without ever having an arrow in it that can be really bad for the bow I would suggest to not leave a bow in a hot car I wonder if I should leave the bow in the back yeah it'll be fine what can happen when you string up a bow that's in a hot car there can be some awkward limb twists I've seen this with the Samick sage bow how the limb would twist sideways and the string wouldn't be tracking directly down the center anymore and you gotta like you literally can shape it back by twisting it but that that could be dangerous and since this is the same limb basically as a Samick sage I'm sure that could happen as well if you left it in really really hot conditions and then put undo twists upon the limb but as far as the safety goes you should be good as long as you keep those things in mind okay it's time for a few modifications to make this bow hopefully quieter and shoot smoother let's get right to it [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] okay it is time to test this bow to see if it's any quieter I put felt where the lemon meets Arizer to try to make that quieter I also put felt right here where the string would slap against the recurve also put a Flemish twist bowstring on with some yarn balls and then I also remove the air arrest and put my own felt arrow rest there let's see if this is any quieter than before and let's see how it shoots sounded like more of a thud than a teen here's a shot from another angle I know it can sound different from behind the archer to in front to beside so let's see what it sounds like beside me he's pretty quiet I'll play a clip of shooting with the other string without the felt and this is how it sounds and this is how it sounds with my modifications all in all for the price it's a pretty good bow take a couple more shots here for you yeah that is my group of those four shots not too bad for me honestly this bow is pretty easy to group with the archer is always the final factor I do believe though more comfortable the bow is the easier it is for you to shoot but in the end it's really the archer who makes the arrows go where they go all of that being said that's my review of the knight take down recurve bow thank you so much for joining me subscribe if you haven't already that would mean the world to me also stay positive be shatterproof remember I'm for you and I'll see you on the next video and one last thing comment below right after my videos because as soon as I post a video I'm gonna spend
