CHEAP Cars That Go 0-60 UNDER 5 Seconds

hey fellow speed junkie imagine hitting 60 miles per hour in less than five seconds and still being under budget yeah i know we don't have tons of cash to go zero to hero but you're about to find out it doesn't take a whole lot of cash to go fast and we have everything from a high strung race bred inline six to a big old american v8 on this list and everything and i mean everything on this list is vids let's go [Applause] you know what goes together as well as peanut butter and jelly yeah mustang in five ford went back to the tried and true recipe with the 2011 s197 mustang gt yeah i think that mustang looks sick i mean it's pure muscle and it has the performance to back it up specifically that fabulous point which pumps out 412 horses and 390 foot pounds of torque which is delivered in an extremely predictable linear fashion now don't get a 2010 or older s197 because those came with this 4.6 liter and it had 97 less horsepower lame i know i don't know why you'd buy one and the fact that it got even more horrific gas mileage doesn't make any sense at all now here's the thing about the 11 and newer s197s they have extremely strong rear axles that don't break under big horsepower numbers which if you ask me is super awesome because well the 5 liter is extremely easy and cheap to modify so just trust me you're going to be tempted with pushing this past 500 reliable horsepower which i don't blame you because with just an exhaust these things sound like the civil war is chasing you when you rip to 0-60 in just 4.6 seconds now out of the trio of domestic competitors you got the chevy camaro you got the dodge challenger and i think that the mustang gt is the cheapest way to carbocuse 0 to 60 in under five seconds here i'll serve this up to you it's a 2012 gt with an underrated 412 horsepower which is more like 435 horsepower stock for less than 11k but if an amazing german car is more your style then i got just the one that only gets better with time the e46 m3 is so so so so so good that i haven't just owned one but two just look at this thing it's hard not to stare it's the benchmark in luxury performance cars on the outside it's as cute as your high school sweetheart and on the inside there's this nasty hot blooded euromotor always ready to hit the high note the top of the line m car has a 333 horsepower inline six that cranks all the way to 8 000 rpm which you guys is good for 0 to 60 in 4.8 seconds now the chassis it's one of the best and this m will go 10 rounds with any sports car in the twisties and i know exactly what you guys are thinking well does it have a manual yes and you should save the manuals with this ideal tee but guess what it also has is an lsd limited slip differential so does it skid yeah it skids real well [Music] but as much fun as it is slideways my favorite part about this car is that engine it's like a race car engine it's an event every time you start it up especially when cold it's so entertaining it just spits and sputters like no other car that i've ever owned and oh boy does it ever have an appetite for motor oil expensive motor oil it uses about a quart every 2000 miles but that's just normal here's the thing about the e46 m3 right now it's an incredible value and the perfect car to use the ideal car strategies on so check them out if you want to learn the right way to buy your next doors and how about a sleeper that doesn't look like a cheap korean sedan i never thought you guys would ask hyundai built this car to compete directly with the big body bmws and audis so you know it's a top shelf four-door sedan that's gonna have a luxurious ride but is it fast and is it cheap well yes and yes pop the hood and you're looking at the company's tal v8 a 5 liter with 429 horsepower ready for a good time [Music] yes she sounds amazing straight piped and we'll hit 60 on the speedo in just 4.9 seconds [Music] it's pretty cool that korea makes one nasty sounding v8 and that sound comes out of a luxury sedan that you can get for just pennies on the dollar yeah under 10k for this 13r spec which you want to stay away from the 2012s due to their excessive oil consumption that isn't normal in those engines but if you want the quintessential midlife crisis mobile that offers a lot of performance power and value there's only one option the c5 corvette it just makes sense that the gorgeous lines of the 5th gen appeal to the masses and what makes this sled so incredible is gm built it utilizing the ls1 motor which guarantees a reliable 345 horses for a very very good time these things believe it or not are now 20 plus years old but back when they were new their top speed was 175 miles per hour which was pretty much world class but if you want to see the cheapest way to break the 200 mile per hour barrier yeah like a car for 11 grand check out this ideal video it's one of my faves but what i love about the c5 well two things first the price point when it was brand new was high enough that it appeals to people that can afford to maintain them at the dealer shorts and new balances well they were totally optional except i'm totally guilty of scooping up a new pair of white balances for the c8 corvette unveiling last year yeah that was embarrassing i was the only one wearing them but everybody there they were like nice shoes and they were like in suits and i was like nice tie i wasn't in a suit the second thing about this car though is how moddable the ls1 is cheap basic bolt-ons turns this detroit muscle into something truly extraordinary so now you know what to look forward to if you buy one but stock you're looking at a 0-60 sprint in four and a half seconds and you can do this in this fun vert for less than nine grand just just promise me this you gotta throw a lumpy cam in there so it just sounds badass standing still and if you want that same american power but just a different chassis then the pontiac gto is for you the gto is a two-door that makes for a great daily driver ripped straight from gm subsidiary from the land down under holden it borrows that familiar naturally kick-ass ls2 v8 from the corvette giving this pawnee 400 horses to the rear wheels and you know what that means cheap speed this thing puts 0-60 down on the barbie in a reported 4.7 seconds and that's paired with that unbelievable vet sound [Music] that's straight up crazy right and this thing handles great too with independent rear suspension massive brakes and a smooth rattle free ride you got stupid fun extremely reliable and a very affordable monster and i'm going to reiterate one of the best things about those ls motors is that you can find parts for them extremely cheap so if something breaks it's going to be cheap to fix and if you want to modify it's going to be cheap to make go fast but enough talk if you want to get in on this sweet deal i found a clean example with a sweet red and black paint job for 9k the exact same price as that vet which one would you choose gto or vet wait do you smell that it smells like breakfast it smells like fried egg youtube girlfriend are you making fried eggs i like i like fried eggs but you know who else like fried eggs porsche in like the late 90s because those infamous headlights look like breakfast and if you can get past those it actually has some great qualities most importantly that engine it's a naturally aspirated boxer 6 and makes such good sounds and you can rocket this puppy from zero to stuttgarten in 4.9 seconds that's just under the 5 second mark so good in my book however that's not exactly why you buy a porsche it's just all around one of the best cars ever built it's an everyday supercar if you will even the 996 and it has superb handling and once you start to understand how to drive that rear wheel weight bias you are going to eat corners in the 996 for breakfast as long as you like your eggs on top now the 996's are fairly reliable however if there's one thing that will go wrong it's that ims bearing luckily there's aftermarket bearings that cost around 2 500 bucks and as long as your car has an aftermarket bearing you're good to go so what did i do for you guys well i found one for sale that already has the ims issue fixed and look at this it's 11k that is not a bad deal to go zero to 60 in less than five and since we have a couple 911s here at ideal well i'd have to say that that's an ideal deal especially for a starter 911. now if we jump the pond and go back to the good old usa you'll find this luxurious big-bodied and powerful piece of american metal like just look at this thing if you close one eye and squint with the other it kind of looks like a rolls-royce kinda not not really but but sorta and i mean you can always get a body kit or something and try to fit in now unlike the intro to this car the hemi 6.1 liter v8 is no joke pushing 425 horsepower and zip into 60 in 4.9 seconds [Music] but the best part about this deal is that all that power is actually pretty cheap i found this black 06 srt8 for 8 600 bucks just good luck getting that thing around corners because this thing handles straight up like a boat now ideal fam out of all the cars on this list which one do i pick it's got to be that c5 corvette 345 horsepower lightweight tried and true sports car recipe from gm and it's got those pop up
