Cheap Camping & Backpacking Food 3: Testing Ramen Meals

well you asked for it they asked for it they asked for it this is a this is a heavily requested video so we're here in the kitchen which means we're going to be doing some camping food-related kitchen stuff today and back by popular demand it's let's make our wives eat camping food and see what they think but the hilarious part is they think they're getting some high-class camping food today they're getting ramen I were in the kitchen what are we doing so we're gonna do three different ramen recipes that are really popular in the trail right now actually sorry - a popular ones an SPL original SB so original first ramen recipe we're gonna do is the famous ramen bomb let's start we're starting with the ramen bomb yeah where's diamond bomb because they're gonna like this so we're gonna do some loaded baked potato instant mashed potatoes and some chicken ramen this is just a classic car staple for the trail so we're gonna hit them first with the ramen bomb the second recipe we're gonna do is we're gonna do an SPO original and this is gonna be you know chicken Robin with our shakers that everything look though that haven't you got done it yeah it's just play hello chicken ramen so we're gonna do that as our second recipe will win them with that one - that's just--that's heating things up finally to impress the wives I dropped some money on the ever famous ramen rescue by packet gourmet so I've never had this before but we're gonna give it a shot so I don't know it seems to be pretty popular did that almost kill someone then we're not talking about that first thing we're gonna do we're gonna do the ramen bomb so ramen is super complicated me dump that in there all those carbs we're gonna in the packet yeah I don't know if you're supposed to use a flavor packet but you know we're using it so we're doing gonna add some boiling water to it it smells deliciously and then they're both pretty instant so yeah I mean this will taste this will taste great yeah every everybody loves ramen Bob's well the ramen bomb is just it's looking gorgeous really good yeah looks looks very nice yeah it smells delicious of course number one plating the ramen bomb looks pretty good notice the French say let me avow in Baba hey hey okay all right oh I forgot to put the cat's away okay don't see any ramen oh that's it on the bottom loser but today we ready step sauces sauces I just taste mashed potatoes are those flakes of pepper and that's part of our these baking mashed potatoes yeah are you really exhausted so think of hopping to Taco Bell yeah I basically just takes my potatoes there's a lot of the ratios more so just kidding you think I'm saying it's good I think I just taste mashed potatoes you know like a you doing texture you you almost don't even feel the texture of the ramen in there I got a heavy ramen but every day yeah it's like to remake the movie three three four would it really taste like this on the trip yeah it's just just water Robbie this oh did you have like the ramen packet yeah shake it round Larry you watch too much but you always gotta put a packet all right so meal number two we're gonna do the SPO original buffalo chicken ramen so we're just gonna take a good solid few handfuls of our buffalo chicken dehydrated buffalo chicken [Music] measuring carefully and are we gonna use the chicken flavor absolutely yeah absolutely what do you think this is try to be healthy this one will take a little bit longer cuz the buffalo chicken to rehydrate will do our typical you know almost to the top a little over the top careful measuring they're very precise yeah alright course number two Espio ridge that does not look nearly as good as the first one now this is buffalo chicken ramen five this is not look very appetizing to be honest I'm open-minded so I like buffalo chicken so much then come up in mm-hmm it's hard to eat this that's part of the experience with those mm-hmm I like it who does spicy do I get more like five yeah it's okay I think you'd have to like super spicy I don't want a very sensitive palate sir I mean I would rather the mashed potato and cheddar cheese melted on top okay what it gives you last one before or just a little spicy but I mean after a whole day of hiking I don't think I don't really care yeah I mean presentation plus I do you like seem like it's gonna taste good but it yeah okay final recipe this is the fancy one it's the packet core Mayor Rahm and Rescue said the big one for last with chicken ramen rescue with chicken yeah that thing so this is interesting I've never done this before but it says remove the sriracha packet interesting and desiccant add the complete ramen noodle packet with seasonings the meal pouch and then add the amount of boiling water specified on the ramen packet which is two cups and yeah it's five minutes put it in and put it in the pouch let's give it a shot interesting this must be a newer pouch from rocker from pack gourmet because I remember the old ones are the ones I see everybody uses or you know those big boxes so oh so there's no nice the Uni sriracha and then there's a desiccant and then look at all of the who is just chicken and vegetables in there alright so we're gonna add the chicken flavor flavor ring we're gonna add the msg and I think I'll probably break up the ramen in this [Applause] alright and our two cups of water nice all right you'll be sealed up at four minutes yeah it says use a koozie but we don't have to Z right now so this is five minutes with 2z so it'll probably be a little bit longer than that nice let it sit let the magic happen let's get this as a Roger next in house looking so far it looks what's rehydrated looks ready to go looks ready to get anything validation how do you think they'll take to this one I don't know you never know if them yeah the final two coup d'etat yeah this is Robin rescues this should be the winner looks good so this is this is packet gourmets ramen rescue this looks disgusting creamy so it's like ramen stuff you add to it okay it's huge tastes like ramen oh my God why is that spicy we're back down to three Suraj gives you a sriracha packet to add to it well that's terrible I don't know the corn looks like it's been grilled on a I'm justa on a grill before it Flores put into this packet how would they keep us for lunch at work my lunches are pretty good betting final thoughts I think the buffalo chicken was my favorite it would be like samosa shopping yeah I would want to eat that out on the trail most out of the three or else just the first one I would just have mashed potatoes okay and this one I would eat that work I did like that you could see the ramen noodles and chicken mmm so it's fun I love but the first one was my favorite okay there we have it so that's it you know we knew that the and bomb in the buffalo chicken we're gonna be the good ones and of course they really liked it I'm a little disappointed in the ramen rescue I mean it's pack gourmet has a ton of offerings that we have a bunch more of to try but yeah the ramen rescue have just just average so anyways thanks for joining us in this heavily
