Chantee & Luke: The Ceremony

friends we welcome you here this afternoon for a blessed occasion how many were this thrilled to be here to celebrate with Luke and Shantae their union and marriage today praise the Lord [Applause] I'm going to be offering opening prayer in just a moment but I do want to make just a brief announcement it is traditional in some settings to stand when the bride comes down the aisle but in this particular wedding the bride and groom have requested that you remain seated is that okay with everyone praise God alright let's bow our head other father we pray earnestly today that you would tune our hearts to yours as these musicians have carefully tuned their instruments together Lord we want to have our hearts in tune with heaven today as we stand before you either as bride and groom as witnesses or as on looking angels and members of the heavenly host father we want to be united as we observe this union take place today father grant this in Jesus name and for his sake amen [Music] you you [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] you [Music] [Applause] [Music] who gives this woman to be married to this man [Music] you you it's my love bands of death and brought Jesus out of the tomb friends marriage was not an afterthought in God's great plan of creation and redemption I will read with you in your hearing if you have your Bible here please turn with me to Genesis chapter 2 verses 18 through 24 it reads like this and the Lord God said it is not good that the man should be alone I will make him an help meet for him and out of the ground God had formed every beast of the field and every fowl of the air and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them and whatsoever Adam called every living creature that was the name thereof and Adam gave names to all cattle and to the fowl of the air and to every beast of the field but for Adam there was not found and help meet for him and the Lord called God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam and he slept and he took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh instead thereof in the rib which the Lord God had taken from man he made into a woman and brought her unto the man and Adam said this is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh she shall be called woman because she was taken out of man therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother and shall cleave unto his wife and they shall be one flesh the inspire record clearly portrays a demand it has having been given oversight over the new world clear to was the fact that Adam was to exercise oversight over the new family since Eve takes the name that Adam gives to her later this role of leadership Luke is a serious responsibility but it can be a joyful one as well she was taken from that his Eve was taken from Adam's rib a position close to his heart meaning that he was always to love honor cherish and protect her and lavish her with his affections he was to allow no other earthly affection or desire to displace her from that position next to his heart and of course her presentation to him implies that he was directly accountable to the Almighty God for his conduct in the relationship Shantay Eve was created to be Adams helper like Adam - she was accountable for her role in the new relationship she was to be his best friend his support his encouragement she was to help him also look at things in ways that would not naturally occur to him but she was also to feel free to lean heavily not just upon his broad shoulders but upon his broader affections man and woman are alike in many ways but in certain ways they were opposite equally important but not identical they were compatible they were complimentary of course the application we could make of this for all of us not just you two but all of us who are married or intending by God's grace to be such at some point a complementary relationship is one that minimizes competition and strife I have to say that going beyond mere Anatomy my wife is gifted in ways that I am NOT and vice versa when we recognize and appreciate the unique gifts that our spouses are given it makes us helps us to be more thankful to God for them on the other hand if we have the I can do it better than you can mentality there will be no likely no end of conflict so I and I trust that you two have come to appreciate that God has brought you two together to complement one another and to be something together that you could never be independently God introduced the first couple to each other how many of you would have liked to have had God Himself personally introduce you to your spouse how many of you feel like you've had that experience in another sense I certainly do and I hope that many of you all of you feel the same way God still makes these introductions today marriages can still be custom fits today can they not if we're willing to trust God it can be so and I want to say something especially to the young folks trusting God to bring the right person into your life will also mean that you may have to get up and go where God calls you to go Eve of course did not remain sequestered off somewhere by herself waiting for Adam to come to her instead she was walking with God she was talking with God she was follow in god she was doing what God intended her to do Adam had already had that experience as well both of them and this is vitally important both of them had a relationship with Jesus the creator of all things independently of one another before they ever got to know each other you still believe that that's important friends say Amen if you do Amen I do too and I know that you two have had this experience walking with Jesus and then an introduction happens you know Adam had an interesting experience as he named all the animals what do you think he what conclusion do you think he reached at the end of that experience God was teaching him all about creation but as he was naming the animals he began to observe something that each of them had a mate and he realized that he did not in fact the Genesis record is very clear that he was at least by the end of the session with God expecting that some would would be found for him because the Bible reads this way if you picked it up but for Adam there was not found and help meet for him friends you don't not find what you're not looking for right and by the end of that time with God Adam fully expected that he was going to be introduced to someone special there was a waiting period involved do you all know anything about that some of us get married early in life some of us later but God can be in it either way what do you say but I want to close really in dealing with the issue of you know other than the what of marriage other than the how the why why did God choose to join these two lives together and why is he choosing today to join these two pipes together and I'd like to suggest it is because two can do more united in their labor for God than they could do separately this is true I think with any sort of Union positive or negative you remember the Tower of Babel there was a union there and God said of that union even though it was in a negative Union in evil Union God said anything they set their heart to do they're going to be able to do and so we broke it up the same was true of the sons of God and the daughters of men those unequal yoking z-- were enough to bring about a condition where God had to destroy the world with a flood if that is true for unions formed by men for ill purposes how much more is it true that unions conceived in the mind of God formed for holy purposes can it conveys the canoes unions can this union today have more power than any of the products of men could ever have yes and the answer is yes any men this union that we are forming today between Luke and Shonte has behind it the power of two other unions the first is that of the Godhead itself this unity among three Co eternal persons this union demonstrated the love of God from eternity past and friends an equally vital union took place about two thousand years ago when the son of God stepped into human history joined his eternal divine nature to our fallen human nature in order to save humanity from the penalty and power of sin all the power of the triune God and all the power of Calvary's cross stands behind your union that you formed today may God bless each of us that we will avail ourselves of these powers that will make our marriages powers for good in the world may God bless us to that end in the name of Jesus and for his sake why don't all of us say Amen you the Morningstar grows faint in streaks of brand-new day the clouds are realz with has chased away the storm tracks its of these assembled witnesses the two of you are choosing to enter into solemn covenant with the Creator Savior and judge of the universe regarding this sacred relationship of marriage Luke my beloved one you are my heart's one choice you've drawn me to yourself like the first Shepherd of my soul drew me and I stand here today before the presence of all these witnesses to give myself my whole heart and soul fully and freely to you come into my garden my love the gate is open for you and you are welcome here I will seek to bring delight to your heart all the days of our life I promise to love God and place him above all other things that he may enable me to be a faithful wife to you I will drink daily of the streams of living water but the Word of God can be the foundation of our home and the joy and rejoicing of our heart as it says in Jeremiah 15:16 I will pray with you daily that our voices may blend in praise and petition to our God by His grace I will love you selflessly faithfully and joyfully I will serve you honor you respect support strengthen and encourage you I will delight in your sweet company and seek to make our home a haven for you a place built upon the foundation of righteousness and purity where God is honored angels love to abide and all find a gracious welcome I will do my part to make our home a refuge from the storms of life a place where you can find safety rest refreshment in my love and someday Lord willing in the love of our children if God should indeed bless us with children I will seek to be a faithful mother to them teaching them diligently to honor their heavenly and earthly father I will have a new smile for you every morning as we rejoice in the faithfulness of God and the joy of life together when we're harvesting in the garden at 4 o'clock in the morning or availing hay instead of eating supper or getting up in the middle of the night to get onions safe from the rain I will thank God for the privilege of standing by your side and partaking in your life I will forgive you when you fail and point your eyes to the cross from whence comes true forgiveness and healing while helping you to stand again as a God ordained leader of our home I will encourage you in your leadership and will grow with you as we seek to be a man and a woman a husband and a wife that please God the song a song says that the floods can never drown the love that is authored in Christ nor weak in its desire the rains may deluge from above but can never quench the fire when hard times and disappointments come I will meet them with fortitude encouraged by the grace of God I choose to love you and stand by you through every circumstance in life I will find strength in the high places with you and will gladly place my hand in yours as we walk the valleys of the world seeking to love those christ died to save together in the words of a beloved author to us and i on high places where thou art will follow on Hinds feet as close behind the heart there leaps the row so where thou goest I will surely go I love you Luke Allen Fisher I thank God for you Shantay Nicole Tiffany Niblett daughter of God and my hearts companion have I told you today how precious you are to me well you are very precious to me also very beautiful and you have a beautiful heart and I love you and I want to be a true house band to you to be a husband that will love you with a pure strong and selfless love this is an honor too great for me to undertake alone so before I give my life to you in your presence and in the presence of those gathered here I would like to give my life again to God to lay it down upon this altar for his service no matter how small or feeble the light of my life may be may it be to his honor and glory it was he who first planted the seed of love for you in my heart and it has taken root and is now blossoming but may it bear fruit may it be a perennial everbearing and despite winter and drought and hardship may it no no dormant season Shantay by the grace of God I promise to love you with tenderness with patience and kindness to be thoughtful of your wishes and to care for your heart I promise not to be envious of you or of your friends or your family though you be mine not to keep you only to myself but may we as companions in love love those around us together I promise not to be boasting proud or selfish I will not demean or dishonor you I promise to rejoice in truth and I promise to rejoice and delight in you I will not keep record of your mistakes and if you make them I'll gladly forgive you and when I make them I promise that I will come to you with humbleness and ask for your forgiveness I will always protect you I'll always provide for you I will give you the labor of these hands Shantay I trust my heart to you and I will not take the trust that you place in me for granted and I will hold it sacred through adversity I will always hope and persevere I will keep my trust in the Lord for our hope and hemisphere God's love for us will never fail I will make mistakes and I will probably hurt you and for that I'm sorry but by the growing and renewing work of Christ in my life I promise not to fail you Shantay in the cold Tiffany niblet I promise to love you forever and to like you for always so help me God Luke Alan Fisher will you take shuntay Nicole Tiffany Netherland to be your lawful wedded wife to live together after God's ordinance in the sacred estate of matrimony is it your purpose to love her comfort her honor her cherish her in sickness and in health in prosperity or an adversity and forsaking all others keep yourself only unto her as long as you both shall live do you so desire ideal Shante Nicole Tiffany Dublin will you take Luke Allen Fisher to be your lawful wedded husband to live together after God's ordinance in the sacred estate of matrimony is it your purpose to love support honor and cherish him in sickness and in health in prosperity and in adversity and forsaking all others keep yourself only unto Him as long as you both shall live do you so desire I do Luke and Shantae it is my solemn privilege and great joy as a minister of Christ's everlasting gospel to pronounce the two of you before heaven and before these witnesses husband and wife what God has joined together let no one put asunder now about this matter of kissing the bride you to have saved your first kiss for the marriage altar so this is a very meaningful event for the two of you so the wait is over Luke gets the bride amen we invite the congregation to bow your heads and the bridal party to kneel with Luke and Shantae as we dedicate them to God our dear god and father of us all in the beginning you planted a garden and you created Adam and put him there and you looked around and you said it is good but then you looked at Adam and you said it is not good for man to be alone and you created Eve as her helpmeet and then you said it is very good so today Lord we have assembled in this beautiful garden surrounded by the handiwork of your creation and today we believe you have said it is not good for Luke to be alone and so you have given him Shantay as his help meat and we believe that the warm sunshine the soft breeze and the radiance on these two faces speaks and says it is very good Lord you have heard these solemn vows we have all heard these solemn vows and I know that Luke and Shantae mean them from the very bottom of their heart but yet we also know that the only way for them to be strong to persevere to be faithful is through your strength through your power and so today I pray that these vows we'll be like solid rock through the strength and power of your holy spirit and now Lord is Luke and Shantae go from this beautiful garden to make a new home together in their own little garden I just pray for your blessing pray for your power may the seed of love that is germinated and sprouted in their hearts continue to grow and flourish make it fruitful and beautiful for all those around to see Lord may their union their marriage be a little taste of heaven not only to them but to all those who see them may your love so shine through them that others will catch a deeper glimpse of your love this is our prayer today in Jesus name we pray amen stand before you now love you for my lifetime to give you all my there's one when my love
