Ann + Sean Full Wedding Ceremony

Oh you you you you you please be seated dear friends we're gathering here today in the presence of God to celebrate the joining together of two people and two families and holy matrimony it's good to remind everyone that we not only have a bride and a groom here with us this afternoon but we also have invited the Holy Spirit to be here with us and to be an active participant the spirit was the one that brought Shaun and Anne together it was a spirit that led them through dating and engagement and now they stand here at the altar ready to say valles exchanged rings and become one it's a spirit that promises us that it will never leave this couple and by the way you look beautiful and Shaun I know that you are excited about this moment to take Anne as your bride it's now my honor to ask who is presenting this woman to be joined to this man today in holy matrimony would you bow your heads and let's pray together your father we're thankful for what you are doing and Shaun and Anne's life thank you for drawing them together thank you for bonding their families Lord this is a exciting day and we ask that your presence be with us here at this moment and that this ceremony will bless you will also be a blessing and encouragement to others got us now in the presence of these witnesses and God may you be glorified and all God's people said amen okay like to read some scripture in Genesis chapter 2 verses 22 through 24 we have the story of the very first marriage then the Lord God made woman from the rib he had taken out of the man and he brought her to the man the man said this is now bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh she shall be called woman for she was taken out of a man for this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife and they will become one flesh Sean you are a wise man you have chosen well by choosing an to be your partner for life and an from this day forward you will stand with Sean you will stand with him and the good days and the bad the happy and the sad and because the two of you have chosen marriage neither of you will ever have to fear abandonment I know this is true because of God's plan the garden for Adam God was pleased to create Adam and he presented him with a beautiful bride that he had drawn through surgery through from his side and you are recreating that ancient moment here today the very first bonding of man and woman it's time for a new beginning the Sinclair and Huang families or expanding today if you would I'd like to set up the context of how you met dated and we're engaged for all of these people take a moment look out in the crowd wow you've got a great group here this morning fantastic and you grew up in Montgomery I was your student pastor and I got to see you grow into this beautiful woman here the Sean you grew up across the bay over in Mobile and you told me that for years you had been praying for your husband you had no idea who he was or where he would come from but you believed that God would bring the right partner to you you believe that God would bring someone who would love you and encourage you someone that would be dedicated to you Sean you had no idea that fateful night when you went to the gym at South Alabama and that night that you would meet and for the very first time and you were running on the treadmill you would Shawn you would see am several times over the next few weeks and something called euro something was unique and special about and you notice that while she ran she read she would study in stride and remember while she raced what a woman Shawn you introduced yourself to Anne and things started off pretty slow you began a friendship over social media and in text and you would see each other occasionally and the relationship grew and finally you went on your first date and Shawn you told me that the first date lasted for more than seven hours the two of you went to a movie then you went to the mall and then you went to dinner Shawn you told me that you knew that Anna liked you because she refused to go home so the two of you dated for two and a half years and over that time the two of you learned more and more about the other you have a love of education and share a similar calling to help people that are sick and suffering Shawn you asked Anne to marry you in a very romantic and inclusive way your proposal included a beautiful setting rose petals candles friends family your families were there and you told me that that that night was magical Shawn I asked you what drew you to Anne and you told me that she was selfless she was a servant of course you told me you thought she was beautiful and is the most dedicated person that you had ever met she's wise intelligent smart all words by the way that you use to describe her to me you also said that Anne is silly bubbly fun to be with and uplifting you told me that she helps you with the details of life I compared her to the string to your kite she keeps you on the ground and you told me that Shawn was very handsome you told me that if there was a checklist of positive attributes you were looking for someone to marry Shawn would check every one of them you said that Shawn was humble servin a defender protector encourage ER that he's patient moral funny and the perfect partner for you the two of you are both believers in Christ both of you remarks how the church and commitment to Christ deeply impacted your life the two of you also stated that your parents have provided an unbelievable example of marriage and partnership Shawn you and Anne are unusual because as you are committed to each other you've also expressed your deep commitment to God both of you have a rich heritage of spirituality and faith each of you are raised in the church and taught to love God love each other and other people the two of you have been attending church or whole life you told me that your desire to continue this journey of faith you wanted to do it together you told me it's your desire for Jesus to be at the center of your home and I encouraged you if you remember to love church read your Bibles together and pray for one another daily it's these that type of activities that divorce proof your marriage and remember I told you remember the couple that serves together stays together and let me give you just a couple pieces of advice before we start your vows I want to say Shawn and Anna it's a true joy for me to be here with you on this glorious day to be surrounded by friends and families those that care deeply for the two of you I consider it a privilege to be here with you and I want to show you something and you gave this to me know what this is what is it that's right this is your marriage license but before I before I sign it I want to remind you that as this is the license this is not marriage it's not marriage as a matter of fact this is just a piece of paper and when I sign and when I send it away it will continue to be just that it will be a piece of paper now don't get me wrong this is an important place an important day an important piece of paper with all these people here in this ceremony I want you to understand that this ceremony is not marriage marriage happens tomorrow it happens the moment you say I do it happens in the weeks to come the years to come Jesus shares these words with us no one has greater love than this to lay down one's life for your friends Sean and in most likely you'll never be asked to give up your life for one another but you will be required to give up yourself for each other because that's what marriage is it's a gift Sean today you will give yourself to an and and today you will give yourself to Sean you will give rings to each other as a symbol of this giving and as a symbol of your solemn vow before us and before God you will give yourself body and soul and mind to each other as a gift because these are far more precious than the rings you exchanged marriage is a gift it's a gift of yourself it's a gift of your life and it's not just for today it's for every day forward you must constantly give yourselves to one another that is marriage it means letting go of petty things like who's right and who's wrong it means putting your spouse their wants and their desires and their happiness ahead of your own it means Shawn that ends happiness is more important than yours and it means that before your happiness Shawn's happiness is chief that's what the Apostle Paul means when he tells us to be clothed in love Shawn and n I invite you to come and begin the adventure of your marriage by declaring your vows to one another in the presence of God and in the presence of these witnesses Shawn if these words represent the greatest desire of your heart and if you intend to keep this valley with your whole heart your whole life long then affirm the valve I looking deep into Anne's eyes and repeat these words after me i Sean take you Anne a Sean take you in to be my lawfully wedded wife to be my lawfully wedded wife I promise to love and honor you I promise to love and honor comfort and cherish you comfort and cherish in sickness and in health sickness in poverty and in wealth in poverty and in wealth forsaking all others forsaking all others keeping only unto you keeping only unto you so long as we both shall live good job and if these words represent the greatest desire of your heart and if you intend to keep this valid with your whole heart your whole life long then affirm the vows is and repeat these words after me I am take you Sean to be my lawfully wedded husband I promise to love and honor you comfort and cherish you in sickness and in health and poverty and in wealth forsaking all others keeping only unto you so long as we both shall live Sean and Ann as a symbol of your love to each other and this marriage is the wedding band do we have our rings I'll take both of them take your time these are mighty fine rings they are beautiful what a powerful symbol Shawn I will remind you and both that as I hold these rings in my hand you will notice the shape their circular their unending they are in effect symbolizing eternity which is the love that you share with one another your love for one another like Jesus's love for us is unending it is eternal it is a commitment and speaking of commitment chances are the two of you have probably committed some financial resources into purchasing these rings they are valuable they are made of precious metal they're not cheap in the same way your marriage is precious it's made up of very precious and valuable things like time and patience and compassion and love and communication it's these things that will make your marriage last and I would also remind you that they are meant to be given away right Shawn you bought Ann's ring for her you bought this ring for Shawn and I would remind the two of you that marriage is about service it's about sacrifice and giving each other away trying to compete with one another on who can out serve the other so Shawn I would invite you to take Ann's ring if you will Shawn if you will look deep into ends eyes and place this ring on Ann's left hand and repeat these words after me with this ring with the three Ivy Wed I thee Wed and pledge to thee to be my life well time and please look deep into Shawn's eyes and place this ring on his left hand and repeat these words after me with this ring I thee Wed and I pledge to thee my life another powerful symbol of a wedding and marriage is the unification of two people you've seen this done as many of us have we've used unity candles but another popular form is sand of course we live in a very beachy environment so we're very familiar with sand but you'll notice here to my left there is a table and on that table is a beautiful vase and two different coloured sands one of those sands represents the two of you and in just a moment you'll walk to that table and you will pour that sand together and these particles will mix together literally instead of having two separate sands you'll have one combined unit in the same way that you are now no longer two people but you're functioning now as a team as a partnership as something that will unify and do great things for God together whenever I think of two people come together I think of Ephesians chapter five I'd like to read it for you for the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church his body of which he is the Saviour now as the church submits to Christ so wives should also submit to their husbands and everything husbands love your wives just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy cleansing her by the washing with water for the word and to present her to himself as a radiant church without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish but holy and blameless in the same way husband's ought to love their wives as their own bodies he who loves his wife loves himself after all no one ever hated his body but he feeds it and cares for it just as Christ does the church for we are members of his body for this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife and the two will become one flesh this is a profound mystery but I'm talking about Christ in the church however each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself and the wife must respect the husband you may now proceed in pouring your sand you you kaalia thank you so much for showing me I'm so proud you're going to do amazing things way to see how you're going to make yourself or thank you for allowing them to find each other thank you for preparing them for lord thank you for the generations that are going to call them blast the generations that be thankful for this union when we ask for blessings today garden keep you safe Lord especially as they're driving their honeymoon and we certainly pray their future what an honor it is for me and again Lord we ask your special touch they've given to them this one in the years to come they pray this in your name you would you bow your heads with me father God thank you for your presence with us here today we pray that today's ceremony has glorified you and honored you in every way we ask your blessings be upon this couple their home and their future family together help them Lord to stay focused on each other by staying focused on you help them to love one another by loving your son Jesus Christ in the scripture Jesus we love you thank you for taking these people who are different and separate and individuals and making them one Lord we pray these things in your name amen Sean and Anne by the power vested in me by the great state of Alabama and with God's guidance and approval I now pronounce you husband and wife what God has put together let no man separate Sean the knot has been properly Todd my brother you may now kiss your bride good job well placed if you will turn yourselves this way to the congregation ladies and gentlemen is my honor and privilege to present to you for the very first time mr. and Miss mrs. Richard Sean Sinclair Oh you you you you Charmian would like me to say thank you on their behalf they are deeply grateful for your attendance here today and they want to make sure that you all feel invited to the reception it's going to be at the Daphne Civic Center obviously following today's ceremony and each one of you are invited if you don't know where the Daphne Civic Center is it's fine it's actually just down highway 98 just a very small stretch there's a map actually to the Daphne Civic Center right out here in the foyer and you can pick up one of those begin thank you so much for being here today before you leave let me ask you the question those of you that are married would you mind just raising your hands fantastic hopefully you're here with your spouse if you are here with your spouse gentlemen what I like to do I'd like you to put your arm around your wives go ahead give me a favor very good very good now ladies and gentlemen those of you that are married hopefully your spouse has has hurt his arm around you I'd like you to look at one another look at each other and odds may be a while since she'd done this okay I want you to say these words okay say them after me say not men say this say honey I love you say honey I love you and I'd do it all over again now man kiss your wives give her a kiss god bless you thank you for being here today y'all enjoy the reception and I'm so glad that everything came together and everything was perfect and I'm glad our life continues to be perfect together I love you more each day not source of what you're feeling um Sam's just perfect um I love you call my heart your husband okay way to spend rest of my life with here you're my soul mate nice well together what do you want to tell him and for the future I hope you have a baby girl by now little Alice Alice May um we're just so happy and in love and just always having this spark just hope we stay in love but forever because I know like our favorite song all over five thousand years and I really have loved you as long as I remember before I even knew you I always loved my future husband and when I met you and you you're my future husband and I'll love you forever
