just like that the kid from Down Under number 22 chad reed your winner just get that sauce going out of the way I always felt like I was driven on like man what if I did this what if this race went that way there was this never satisfied I always said there has to be a sign there has to be something that one day I wake up and I go I've had enough I always felt like I did it my way it is true that's probably what makes me the proudest 18 years old with a couple suitcases and we took on the world [Music] if you're gonna fail fail because you made that choice yeah that was what you truly believed in 2003 for me is the favorite just being the baby so new to it a lot of people don't know like because we became rivals how much I looked up to Ricki I had his poster above my my bed and it was living a trial Virginia I [Music] really do believe Riki is the greatest of all time you asked me as a writer James hands down [Music] [Applause] the amount of smoke finished second adventure cool second with a couple of points the goal was always to win but it was about showing up every weekend also that's probably what I remember most is just loving it one of the toughest champions we've ever seen in this fort has stood atop the podium tonight to say his heart is as big as ever it's truly loving the racing the core inside me just wanted to race my dirt bike everybody says it goes fast and everybody says that when you get to a certain point of perspective calms and I wish that you knew what you knew now to enjoy those moments [Applause] [Music] [Applause] and it's so easy to show up when you're winning on the top step and everybody loves you it's your ability to show up when it's not going good it would be so easy to have retired ten years ago and being like I'm done [Music] but that's never thin you you've never taken the easy way I feel happy I feel complete really proud for what I achieve bracing two wheels [Music] [Applause] yet even more Supercross action with NBC sports gold you're gonna get everything from race day live to every qualifier and race it's all live it's commercial free and it's on demand so head to NBC sports.com slash supercross pass to get yours now
