CDT Thru-Hike Day 27-28, April 30 - May 1, Stunning Views!

[Music] good morning everybody may still be a little bit dark outside but about a mile up the road this morning sorry about the shakiness here a little side trail come over to this view makes it a good start for the day so today our goal here well we don't have like a set goal but we've got water at eight miles which uh we're going to take advantage of and then the next uh reliable water would make us a 24 mile day that would be my longest day so far on the trail if the rain stays good and the uh and the legs hold up then it could be a 24 mile day we'll see uh all depends on how the day goes but the weather is looking good so far and before i fall off this rock i better turn this video off all right all right so today has been a lot of ups and downs so far looks like we're about a third of the way through and we're getting high because we're getting snow patches here and here that's where we're headed about half a mile from water so doing okay but getting a workout to altitude really makes a difference started growing decided it was going to take a sharp right it's an interesting tree all right trucking along today looks like we've got us another little environment change here wide open spaces here unfortunately we can't stay here because we got more miles to do but there is some good camping out there for sure flat spots and everything and some snow up on the edge all righty well out here in the middle of nowhere uh come up on a little sign here kind of nice so what has happened is toward the end of the day lasts probably nine miles is on a uh road walk and it's not the type of gravel road that is forgiving to the feet so we are plugging away and i would have showed you a lot more today but we kind of went through a lot of nothing this is kind of what we're seeing right now a lot of hunters out today so but there is some beauty in the background there all right more later [Music] so [Music] so here's a cdt dilemma we need that water as i am out of water and i guess that's the easiest way down holy moly be interesting all right gonna do a quick one on the tent set up here is uh set up haven't got the stuff in yet i am kind of hustling to get going because the sun is going down over there it well here's the trail that's where we came from there and that's the way we're headed when you say this trail it's a forest service road for the last nine miles and i don't know how much longer that lasts but tough on the feet long day big day 24 plus miles i think we did 25 so all right i might do one from the tent i might be asleep so we'll see how it goes long day pta good morning everybody looks like we've been blessed with another day and made it through the night without much fanfare after walking a marathon yesterday yeah it was tough took me a couple hours get to sleep but got some good sleep last night shortening up the day a little bit today the goal is right at about 19 miles funny to think that 19 miles is a shorter day but uh interesting and we are just coming up on turn this around here you can see that los indios canyon whatever that means but just going to do a little spin around here we are still on the forest service road and we'll be probably for a few more miles and then we're actually going to get into some trail today so that's good and i think we're at the end of the day we're going to be maybe 40 to 50 miles from the next town cuba so looking forward to that as the day goes on we'll do some more video all right so this is not even the trail this is actually a side trail to get water i'm guessing it's down at the bottom of that canyon which is going to be a nice long walk back up but gotta have water beautiful area [Music] [Music] [Music] um [Music] [Music] [Music] try to keep it steady here [Music] now these are some stunning views coming down the trail [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] do [Music] all righty everybody end of the day we ended up doing uh we were planning on doing 19 but we watered up and ended up doing a little over 20 maybe even 21 i'm not sure but here's my campsite here yes that is a little cow poop around it but you know you want to get a shaded spot because the sun is still up then uh that's just what you got to do you got to kick the cow poop out of the way and be careful of those so check this view out absolutely stunning it might get a little bit windy but [Music] all right getting ready to call in and crawl in and call it a night pt out bye
