you [Music] hello everyone our task for today is troubleshooting serial interfaces you have been asked to troubleshoot one connections for a local telephone company telco the telco router should communicate with for remote sites but none of them are working use their knowledge of the OSI model and a few general rules to identify and repair the errors in the network part-1 diagnose and repair the physical air step 1 diagnose and repair the cabling as you can see all the serial interfaces on the telco router are connected using DCE connections [Music] use the shell controllers command to determine if each telco interfaces using the correct end of the cable [Music] [Music] so the serial 0 / 1 / 1 is connected using DTE connections let's reverse that cable using serial BCE [Music] step to diagnose and repair and correct port connections [Music] as you can see r2 is connected with calcio using a wrong port s 0 / 0 / 0 ended up s 0 / 0 / 1 [Music] step3 diagnose and repair ports that are shut down [Music] [Music] [Music] the connection between telco and r3 is down so let's enable the zero slash zero slash zero port on r3 [Music] [Music] part-2 diagnose and repair the data link layer step one examine and set clock rates on DCE equipment [Music] show the running configuration of telco to verify that a clock rate has been set on each interface [Music] [Music] no need to set the clock rate of any serial interfaces step 2 examine the encapsulation on ECE equipment all of the serial interfaces should be using hdl-c as the encapsulation time [Music] use the show with their face command to examine the protocol setting of an interface [Music] [Music] you [Music] as you can see the encapsulation type for s 0 / 0 / 1 interface on r4 is PPP so let's change it to hdl-c [Music] part three diagnose and repair the network layer step 1 verify the IP addressing [Music] the IP address assigned to the s 0 / 0 / 0 R 1 is incorrect [Music] we must assign six 4.10 0.3 4.18 IP address to that port [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] step to verify connectivity between all outers now we ping r2 r3 and r4 from r1 [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] so all the things are successful that's all thank you for watching
