hello everyone welcome to my channel in this video i'm going to configure dhcp server on a cisco router so it can hand out ip addresses automatically to the clients on the network right here we have a simple topology you have a network of 192 168.10.0 24. the gateway or the ipo on the router here will be 10.1 and we're going to create a dhcp pool from 192.168.10.10 to 10.250 that means we are excluding some addresses from one to nine and then maybe 250 to do 254. first i'm going to the global configuration mode before i create the pool i'm going to specify the excluded addresses [Music] with the command ip the http exclude address and for here we're going to put the low ip address so 1 and 2 168.10.1 and then the high ip address 1 2 1 6 8 to 10.9 so from 1 to 9 are excluded then the pool will be 10 to 250 and then i can add another one here from maybe 251 to 254 255 is a broadcast address i can maybe put it but i'll keep it 2x4 it will never hand out a dot 255 a broadcast address so now we have excluded addresses um specified i will create the dhcp pool question mark so pull and there is the relay option here um i will get to that at the end of the video ipdhcp pool and then the pool name i will call it lan [Music] pool when i press enter i will go to the dhcp configuration mode and this name is case sensitive so if you change any of the cases of the ladder uppercase or lowercase are all considered here inside the dhv configuration mode we have a few commands the important ones of course i'm going to specify the network 192.168. and we're gonna put the network address here and then the subnet mask two five five two five five two five five dot zero and then we're gonna specify the default router and the dns server default router will be the default gateway for the clients so they will be able to find the default gateway so 192 168 it will be 10.1 the first ip address of this network and the dns server i will just put the google dns server ip and this is it for dh3 configuration on a router the most important part is i have to enable the interface so i'll go to gig zero zero zero i'll give it an ip address which is the gateway of the clients this will won't be hand out handed out by the dhcp server of course because we have to uh make it static and no shutdown and it should be it should be ready we'll go to a pc here go to the desktop ipconfiguration and it's set on static you can add a static ip address here but i'm going to choose dhcp requesting ip address it used to be failed a pipa being used okay i'll wait until the interface comes up fully uh we'll go back to dhcp here and it was successful we got the first ip address 192.168.10.10 i'll try with pc1 and it should take 10.11 just like that okay i will go to another scenario here i have a router and i have two vlans here the switch is already configured the router is configured i have a dhcp server sitting on another vlan and we need to use this dhcp server to hand out ip addresses to this vlan i call the vlan 3 and this vlan vlan 2. so on the router we have two sub interfaces gig000.2 on this side and dot 3 on this side and it should the pc is here the dhcp requests should go to the router and go on the other sub interface to the dhcp server and then the space server should reply okay i'm going first to set up the dhcp i gave it an ip address of course on this network 192.168.3.5 it's gateway 3.1 on this side of the network i'm going to services i'm going to open dhcp i'm going to make that bigger a little bit okay here there's a default pool name i'm going to create one here i'm going to call it vlan 2 pool the default gateway default gateway will be 192.168.2.1 so the first ip address of that network and then dns server i'm going to choose 8.8.8.8 so 192.168.2 make sure these are correct the starting ip address i'm going to start from dot 10 subnet mask 255 255 2550 and i'm going to say add so i have a vlan 2 pool here the default gateway is set dns server is set it's starting at 2.10 and this is the subnet mask i'm going to create another one called vlan 3. it's 102.683.1 is the gateway of those clients starting ipad is 3.10 and i'm going to say add so now i have two pools i'm gonna say save and i'm going to turn the service on right here okay pc3 i'm going to test the dhcp service on pc3 it's on the same vlan it's requesting ipads so we got an ip address here i think i left it at starting let me check i might have left it uh starting at any ip address yeah starting ip address i'll make it.10 no this is not the right pool [Music] so v lamp three [Music] oh yeah it is at oh because we have this default one here i'm gonna put it back to zeros [Music] and click save so this default one i left it without any configurations vln3 pool um starting at dot 10. so save that and i'm gonna try with pc3 again put it back to static the http again and it should take the dot 10. now for pc2 here on vlan 2 we have to put some configurations on the router so that the dhcp request goes from this vlan to the other vlan enable i'm gonna show you the configurations first so i have sub interface zero encapsulation.1q vlan id and then this is the ip address we added this command ip helper address so that and with the and the ip address of the dhp server so that requests coming from pc2 going to the sub interface this sub interface will tell this dhcp request you have to go to that ip address of this dhtp server and then there's another command i have to add ipdhcp i remember the relay one relay information trust all so we added this command here and now pc2 should be good to contact the dhcp server on the other vlan dhcp requesting ap address and the dhcp request was successful we got the first ip address of the pool sitting on this dhcp server so that was it for this uh video if you like the video please subscribe and like and i will see you on the next one thank you for watching
