CATHOLIC MEDITATION: Monday - 3 January, 2021. ( Monday after the Epiphany of the Lord ).

uh [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit amen greetings beloved of the lord and welcome to today's edition of catholic meditation with me for the blessed today is monday the 3rd of january 2022 it is monday after the epiphany of the lord good morning and thanks for joining us us pray o god whose eternal word adorns the face of the heavens yet accepted from the virgin mary the frailty of our flesh grant we pray that he who appeared among us as the splendor of truth may go forth in the fullness of power for the redemption of the world who lives and reigns within the unity of the holy spirit one god forever and ever amen [Music] the first reading is taken from the first letter of saint john chapter 3 verses 22 to chapter 4 verse 6. the responsorial psalm is taken from psalm 2. the response to the psalm is i will give you the nations as your inheritance the gospel is taken from saint matthew chapter 4 verses 12 to 17 and verses 23 to 25 i read from the first reading beloved we receive from god whatever we ask because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him and this is his commandment that we should believe in the name of his son jesus christ and love one another just as he has commanded us all who keep his commandments abide in him and he in them and by this we know that he abides in us by the spirit which he has given us beloved do not believe every spirit but test the spirits to see whether they are of god for many false prophets have gone out into the world by this you know the spirit of god every spirit which confesses that jesus christ has come in the flesh is of god and every spirit which does not confess jesus is not of god this is the spirit of antichrist of which you heard that it was coming and now it is in the world already little children you are of god and have overcome them for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world they are of the world therefore what they see is of the world and the world listens to them we are of god whoever knows god listens to us and he who is not of god does not listen to us by this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error the word of the lord thanks be to god [Applause] [Music] [Applause] see is [Music] is is [Music] [Applause] [Music] the theme for today's meditation is you are a conqueror if you have the spirit of god [Music] you are a conqueror if you have the spirit of god [Music] dearly beloved of god religion and church are fast becoming something else many have been initiated into devilish and occultic kingdoms in the so-called churches they attended by so-called prophets and men of god impostors who appeared to be authentic preachers of the gospel yet were wolves in sheep clothing not everything in the name of church and not everyone in the name of prophet or man of god should be trusted jesus himself had said many will come in my name saying i am he and deceive many but he wants us do not follow them matthew chapter 24 25 for not all who say lord lord will enter the kingdom of heaven matthew chapter 7 21 there is therefore the need to test spirits before believing in them and before following them for not everyone has a good spirit we received the spirit of god on the day of baptism and on the day of confirmation and for some on the day when we received the sacrament of holy orders the spirit of god was given to us but there are some who have joined alliances with the devil and so have a bad spirit it is for this reason that we are warned not to trust any and every spirit at least beloved by way of analogy before you buy a pair of shoes don't you try it out if it fits of course you do you don't just buy the same with clothes we even taste fruits to get their sweetness before we buy them now we must begin testing spirits too to ascertain their authenticity this is how low and how far we have to go because even in matters of god and religion we now have fake products and counterfeit in today's reading since john says not every spirit is to be trusted therefore we must test spirits to see whether they are from god or from the devil for many false prophets are at large in the world now very good question you would ask how do we test spirits a spirit is not a blood sample to be scrutinized in a test tube in a laboratory neither is it something we can place on the tongue to pick out the taste the very first way to know if a spirit is of god and not of the devil is that the spirit must acknowledge jesus christ as son of god no one who denies jesus can claim to be of god and from god because jesus himself is god and from god so not acknowledging jesus is simple and clear such a spirit is not the spirit of god but dear friends you and i know very well that there are many who call the name of jesus yet they are fake so calling the name of jesus alone is not enough there is a second test the next test of the spirit is that it must be a spirit of truth not falsehood now what is the truth the truth is jesus himself for he says i am the way the truth and the life the truth is the message of christ in all its entity anyone who preaches a gospel out of what christ thought or contrary to it is a false spirit you cannot claim to be of god yet you preach what is false preaching half gospels preaching the gospel of prosperity you are an antichrist and you are against christ for jesus taught us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us even while he was being nailed to the cross he forgave those who persecuted him so anyone who preaches war who preaches hate who preaches a doctrine of back to sender and thunder and fire and brimstone on those who persecute us sorry such one is a false spirit because you preach what is contrary to christ you preach what is false what is not true dear god's good people let us be careful let us be watchful the devil is prowling around in sheepskin looking for gullible christians to devour and oh oh just how many are falling prey the devil will succeed to get you only if you give him a chance another way to test a spirit if it is from god is that the spirit must be a spirit of love it must preach love beloved the spirit that god has given to us is a spirit of love so anyone that does not have love is a false spirit another way is by the fruits jesus says by their fruits you shall know them it is just a matter of time beloved time will tell it is difficult to know when they begin to grow the difference between the weed and the wheat but with time we begin to see clearly just but the matter of time and you begin to see from their fruits that some are actually false spirits over and above our beloved we must pray we must pray not to fall pray to false spirits pray that the spirit of god will always lead and guide you those who have limited christianity to miracles and healing those who have limited the gospel to casting and binding will show fall prey to the antics of four spirits they know what you want they know what you want to see and they are ready to give it to you the gospel has now been limited to magic beloved let us be careful saint john continues to tell us if we have the spirit of god then we will overcome the false spirits for he who is in us is far greater than he who is in the world now beloved this is very important if we have the spirit of god in us the devil can never overcome us the devil can never succeed against us because he who is in us the spirit of god is greater than the false spirit so ask yourself do you have the spirit of god if you have the spirit of god then you are a conqueror because the devil fears god many times christians run around and they say oh oh the devil is after me beloved if you have the spirit of god in you the devil will rather flee from you and how do we have the spirit of god through baptism through confirmation through holy others through the reception of the sacraments holy communion and if you fall into any sin go to the sacrament of confession and you will receive once again that beautiful spirit of god let us pray dear friends that spirit of god that has been given to us is powerful enough to overcome the devil let us pray that we may keep that spirit alive the spirit of truth the spirit that acknowledges that jesus is the son of god and i tell you the devil will come crawling when it sees you passing by amen the lord be with you may the blessing of almighty god the father and the son and the holy spirit come down upon you and remain with you forever amen [Music] is [Music] so [Applause]
