[Music] hey [Music] [Applause] [Music] in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit amen greetings god's beloved people and welcome to today's edition of catholic meditation with me father blessed amban in jumei today is saturday the 8th of january 2022 it is saturday after the epiphany of the lord it is the last day of the season of christmas good morning and thanks for joining us let us pray almighty ever living god who through your only begotten son have made us a new creation for yourself grant we pray that by your grace we may be found in the likeness of him in whom and nature is united to you who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the holy spirit one god forever and ever amen the first reading is taken from the first letter of sint john chapter 5 verses 14 to 21 the responsorial psalm is taken from psalm 149 the response to the psalm is the lord takes the light in his people the gospel is taken from saint john chapter 3 verses 22 to 30. i read from the gospel at that time jesus and his disciples went into the land of judea there he remained with them and baptized john also was baptizing at aenon near salling because there was much water there and people came and were baptized for john had not yet been put in prison now a discussion arose between john's disciples and a jew over purifying and they came to john and said to him rabbi he who was with you beyond the jordan to whom you bore witness yeah he is baptizing and all are going to him john answered no one can receive anything except what is giving him from heaven you yourselves bear me witness that i said i am not the christ but i have been sent before him he who has the bride is the bright groom the friend of the bridegroom who stands and hears him rejoices greatly at the bridegroom's voice therefore this joy of mind is now full he must increase but i must decrease the gospel of the lord praise to you lord jesus christ [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] joy to the earth [Applause] [Music] breaking the sounding joy [Music] the theme for today's meditation is rejoice with others over their achievements rejoice with others over their achievements [Music] today we come to the end of the season of christmas the shortest of all the seasons just two weeks tomorrow marks the beginning of ordinary time with the first sunday of ordinary time which is the feast of the baptism of the lord today max the last day would be listening to our christmas carols and the beautiful songs of christmas with tomorrow we begin the season of ordinary time our reflection today beloved is taken largely from the gospel passage dear god's good people i have listened to some people who say they have no best friend that means they do not have someone so special to them their reason is simple no one can be trusted they relate with all the same the one you trust today and reveal all your secrets to tends out tomorrow to be the very traitor who uses all you told them against you some people even those very close to you throw the smile at you and laugh with you their laughter and smile are not truly genuine we have had cases of brides even poisoned on their wedding day by their own very chief bridesmaid we have had grooms poisoned by their very own best men this is not to scare you beloved but to keep you alert that some people are not truly happy with the successes and achievements of others not even some who are your so-called best friends or closest persons are truly happy to see you grow better and above them they become jealous they become envious and many even try to eliminate you again like we say this is not to scare you but it is to make you always live on the alert today we find a very strange figure it is john the baptist he teaches us a very good lesson he is happy with the successes and achievements of jesus as though the way he is a true friend we must say though those successes of jesus threaten john the baptist's position yet john the baptist is happy with his position and is genuinely happy with and for jesus he says the friend of the bridegroom who stands by him rejoices greatly to hear the bridegroom's voice the bride is meant for the bridegroom it is his wedding day yet his friend who stands by him is happy just to hear the bridegroom's voice he rejoices with him for john the baptist jesus is not a rival he has nothing to fight with him therefore he says this joy of mine is now full the friend of the bridegroom does not rather want to kill the bridegroom to take his place rather he is happy for and with the bridegroom therefore john the baptist concludes he must grow greater he must increase i must grow less i must decrease beloved what an example what a perfect example of one who rejoices with another over their achievements and successes one way is happy to see another succeed rather we have many who like i said will rather want to kill you to take your place will rather though the smile with you will be planning evil against you it is truly hard these days to find people like john the baptist who are genuinely happy with the successes of others there are we are not saying they do not exist there are but beloved how many are truly and genuinely happy with the successes of others the moment they know you are about being elevated or if they see you growing they will rejoice with you they will rather some try to bring you down once of all if it means they have to give a good word or write a positive recommendation not the you will never get it not from them they would rather try to dig and find out every negative thing just to bring you down oh can we have true and genuine friends like john the baptist who will see you happy and will be happy with you who will see you on your day the groom and will just be happy just to hear your voice or stand by you there are some who rather want to destroy your day thinking it would have been day standing in that position not you very few are genuinely happy with our successes or may even support to see us grow john the baptist is happy for jesus he is happy to a friend of the bridegroom and he is happy that it is the bridegroom's day happy to be the friend of the one we celebrating happy just to hear his voice dear friends in christ we should be happy for others and with others over their successes and achievements we mean genuine happiness and not a pretentious one that later seeks to destroy and eliminate some may be smiling but they are thinking of how to eliminate you we hardly ever celebrate people when they are alive but we float social media with rest in peace rip and emojis of tears when they die what hypocrisy let us learn to celebrate people when they are alive do not be a hypocrite that you never celebrate people in their achievements and successes but you are quick to write rip and images of tears when they die hypocrasy today saint john the baptist teaches us to celebrate he teaches us to rejoice with others over their achievements and successes and he boldly tells his apostles i told you remember you are my own witnesses i told you that i am not a christ i am just sent before him i am happy he has come he must grow greater and i must grow less let us pray beloved for that grace to rejoice with others genuinely and this is the secret of life when you rejoice with others over their successes and achievements when you celebrate them and when you are happy with them it is a stepping stone towards your own successes and achievements but those who rather frown their faces and want to bring down others believe me yours sincerely you will never be happy or fulfilled yourself it is not in bringing others down that we become happy it is rather in helping them grow that we to grow let us pray that today and always we may learn to rejoice with others over their achievements and successes and celebrate people when they are alive not when they are dead we wish each and every one of you a very wonderful end of the christmas season and the very best of the beginning of ordinary time the lord be with you may the blessing of almighty god the father and the son and the holy spirit come down on you and remain with you forever [Laughter] [Music] go [Music] [Applause] [Music] you
