[Music] we're getting ready to go out and pick up a tractor this is the biggest tractor that we've ever tried to recover it's a d8 dozer we've got a fairly big loader that we're gonna hopefully use to pull it the plan is to pull started if we can we don't know much about this tractor we don't know why it's why they quit running it or why it why it broke down we're hoping that they just parked it and didn't use it anymore we know that it's been sitting for at least 15 years maybe longer someone has stolen the carburetor and the magneto off of the pony motor so we know we can't use the pony motor to start it without replacing those parts but we're hoping that we can drag it and pull start it it is a direct drive it's a d8h 36a there were several models of this tractor built and that was the only one that was built with a direct drive so in that case we're very lucky and hopefully we can make this work we're getting ready to leave our yard now and head up to where the tractor is and we'll get a little bit of footage of the drive we'll see you up there [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] okay we're here with this d8 this is the biggest non-running tractor that we've ever tried to load and move this thing weighs fifty thousand pounds and for those of us who are a little less good with their math that's 25 tons so we got 25 tons of iron here we were really concerned that it might not roll as you can see we've lifted the blade up the when when you push the loader bucket under the blade to lift it it pushed the tractor back about a foot so reasonably sure now that it's going to roll so that's our first hurdle that we had to get over the second thing we're going to try to do is we're going to pull it and we're going to see if the engine will turn over if we can pull start it so that's what we're going to try to do next if we can't get it started it's not going to kill us we're still going to be able to drag it down the hill that and and up on the trailer I think I think we have a big enough machine here behind me to be able to do that so that's where we're headed now and you can see that this tractors in reasonably good condition for what it is the gentleman that led us in the gate said that he had heard that it had a broken crank and that there was some problems in the differential so we now maybe know a little bit more about it and maybe not it's been here so long that nobody really can't remember anything about it so you can see that there's somebody's taking the Ripper off of it I don't know if the Ripper was taken off maybe to take it and be repaired or if if the tractor is broken like he said then maybe they took it off to put it on another machine or maybe somebody just stole it that does happen the carburetor and the Magneto are gone off the pony motor so it's been scavenged for parts already whether they were stolen or whether they were taken by somebody used on a different machine or something like that we have no idea so right now we're going to try to get this thing rolling and see if the engine will turn over and we'll go from there all right what we're doing now is we're trying to see the engines gonna turn over we're trying to get it to turn not wanting to so I can get it to turn so we're giving it a little nudge and the nudging didn't really work go [Music] yeah I think the break is stuck so we're gonna pull this back inspection plate off this cover and see if we can see a way to release that break it's definitely keeping the whole machine from moving the brake was stuck and we'd stomped on it and we'd yanked on it we were trying to figure out how to get it loose we pulled the cover off the back we were gonna see if maybe we could adjust it or something to get it loose and then my gorilla son came and really yanked on the brake pedal and he broke it free so now we're gonna see if see if it'll move again why we just try to pull it back a little bit that'll tell us and also when we were trying to turn the engine over we think we may have forgot to put the forward and reverse lever in so if that was in neutral then it wouldn't have turned the engine over so it's still possible we might be able to turn the engine over so we're gonna give that another try as well okay we're going to see if we can get this thing to fire okay well turns out on these big cats that the forward and reverse lever when you pull it back is actually forward push it forward is reverse so we actually had the engine turning backwards it's good thing it didn't try to start so we're gonna give it another try now see what happens yeah we got stuff coming out of the exhaust pipe and that's a good sign okay so I guess we'll keep keep trying to get this thing to start did you see if any oil pressure came up okay because it won't get fuel until it's got oil pressure I think some of them are set up like that some amarte I think that's the way it is so let's we're gonna keep trying this and see what happens [Music] ok I got a problem somebody started to take one of the injector lines off of the pump and all the bolts are loose so we got fuel pouring out of that so we need a 9/16 wrench with a socket and an extension then we get those there are three bolts or four see out just needs to be hopefully it just needs to be popped back down looks like tried to take this plunger out and they loosened the bolts and it popped up and fuel started pouring out of here so we're gonna tighten these bolts down which should push this back down where it belongs and hopefully that will allow the fuel pressure to go through the rest of the injector lines and this thing might actually start if it does we're probably going to have to shut it off and put some water in it and then start it again but we're gonna see if it will start before we worry about that but it's I guess it was getting smoke coming out of the exhaust so that's a good sign that means the injectors are bleeding and we're actually getting fuel into the cylinders and it may just start and run okay got that tightened up now and our field leak has stopped now we'll see if it leaks when it's got real pressure to it instead of just gravity feed so there was a big paper wasps nest in the smokestack in the exhaust pipe and it blew out and there were live losts it was a working nest and they went all over the hood and then when we pulled it further and they hooked it off flew up to the loader my lauder drivers complaining about his working conditions come around here AJ [Applause] yeah the turbo works hey you really hear that wine and did we have oil pressure no I don't know why the why the feels not shutting off to it but let's let's open that cap again and see if we got water oh good it's got water in it so that's that's good we're in fact I bet a gallon or two would top it off yeah freeze yeah that's good so I didn't have to kill it you had me worried yeah sit around for a long time and we're just running a full throttle well we do know that the drivetrain works now all right well let's get it started again and let's drive it down the hill it's having a little difficulty steering actually it's having quite a lot of difficulty steering but it doesn't steer kind of so not sure what's up it's got a lot of smoke coming off of it I'm not sure what that's from it could just be from sittings [Music] so we'll have to try to figure that out but for now it's gonna keep working it getting this thing loaded so will you get it down out of here obviously they look better when they can drive themselves they're just gonna have to get it really straight when we try to take it up the trailer all in all so far considering this thing hasn't run for at least 15 years I'm kind of happy with what we got going I don't know why the throttle is not working why won't throttle down we need to figure that out I had hoped to load it on the trailer and just leave it running until we got it back to our yard but they don't know that that's going to be an option I think we're going to happen probably shut it off I just don't think that it's going to be good to run it that long but you know none of the tracks are froze up now the track pins everything looks like it's working the way it should and again we haven't checked any of the oils in the transmissions or the final drives or anything like that so for all we know that could be part of the problem too I do know that the final drive cover on the left side of the tractor is missing some bolts I'm guessing that somebody maybe have had pulled that cover off to look at something in there so it's very possible that there's something broken in the final drive and that could be why it's so hard to steer just tap turn the main thing right now is to get it loaded and then we'll get it down to our yard and then when you work on it further as far as the rest of that stuff goes so you're talking to stall out but it never blows any smoke well that turbo spools up so far I don't know if it would I'm just wondering where all this smoke was coming from at first I thought it was fuel burning now I wonder if it's blow-by but it could still be something burning and we've got a lot of fuel under the engine we might be a risk of a fire well let's not bring any bad luck on us he needs to turn before it gets that fast it's kind of like driving the 933 for the first time you remember having to do this yeah but it had a steering clutch that was stuck Oh No probably pushed stardom you're gonna have to let something awesome here that benders with all this
