we will use a SharePoint list in the background as a lookup to the form and it doesn't have to be visible on the site so I just created a few columns then open the form a name for path designer go to the library settings click on advanced settings and open up your form by clicking the edit template link click on allow to open up InfoPath designer and start adding fields to the form and add a data connection to your phone click on the Add button and now we will point to that background list that I just showed you on the site click to receive data and select SharePoint library or list and then add the URL to your site and then select the list that you want to look up information from select the columns and I always select one field that would be the sort in the drop-down list boxes just click next and finish and include this data connection to your form we will use drop down list boxes if we want to build cascading forms then it means that you select one thing in the first list and then what shows up on the other boxes is dependent on that filtered value so add a drop down list box and right click on it always give your columns descriptive names and then select that you want to get the information from an external source select your data source and then click on the first button by the entries to select what information you want in this field and in this case we want the beverages and also click on the show only unique entry so you don't get double values in this list box the next box we want to filter on is country so the same here get choices from an external data source and then we're going to pick the country column now we have to set a filter so the values in this field will only be shown depending on what beverage type we have chosen so select country and then we have to click on filter data click on add and now we have to go down to the select the Fielder group and go into your main data source which is your form and select beverage type and that needs to be equal to the beverage that you have in your secondary data source so those two always have to be matched so now we have said that the country is shown only if the beverage type is the same as the beverage type that we have in the lookup list the last drop-down box now has to be built with two filters it has to be built by filtered by beverage type and filtered by country so click on add again so we have to select the beverage type is equal to the secondary data source beverage and also at the country that is selected in the form matches the count in the lookup list click on quick publish so that the form changes as a back to the site's lonely forming a browser as you can see in the type box it displays all values that are shown in this background list in the form when you select an item in the beverage type the values in the second field changes if I select a different beverage the countries and are updated in the second box when you select a country the values in the third box changes and this is how you build the cascading forms
