uh how's everybody doing this afternoon sunday afternoon kind of a cloudy crappy day but down at the shop i wanted to share my uh pole barn that i've been well pole barn uh carport i guess you'd call it for now um it is gonna be completely enclosed at one point um to be uh garage so to speak i'm gonna put a probably a couple barn doors in the front here you know frame it in and uh close out the back too but i just wanted to uh share with you guys what i've done here this was all done kind of on a budget um i got i think it's about eleven hundred dollars into it right now uh it's got a steel tin roof uh this is just plastic corrugated roofing siding and i had a little extra the tin from the roof so i put it along the bottom which kind of matches the uh truck box that i'm using as a shop now it's got the aluminum on the bottom with the white so this has the you know metal on the bottom with the white i'm gonna go ahead and put some trim on it make it look a little nicer you know some overhanging uh fascia right here that probably come down to here which will close up this gap to help it uh from getting any water in a little more but uh yeah what i did is i basically put we got one two three four five and then six uh four by fours and four by sixes that i used here and uh dug down and uh put them in concrete uh to create a super super stable structure without having to have a foundation you know otherwise known as a pole barn and then i just uh framed in in between it's basically almost eight feet in between each post i framed him with the regular 2x4 as you see there i used a pressure treater on the bottom where it's touching the ground and uh did two foot on center for the roof um with some strapping just to connect to the uh the tin roofing and that's two by six uh rafters and the floor i have done about half of it now this is all with uh with uh pavers that i've had you know that i took off at jobs basically thrown away not much i mean this was obviously one job here and then i had these gray ones here which were kind of a similar size just threw a couple of rows of those into you know it doesn't really need to look fancy although it actually came out better than i expected it to but uh the whole idea was to uh have an area to be able to work you know eventually i'm probably going to close the whole thing right right to the post in the corner i shouldn't say close but uh floor the whole thing all the way over there with concrete so for now i ran this uh garden timber and spiked it in as a stopping point so the pavers don't shift or move so this is really solid so i'm able to drive over that and for now at least i can pull a vehicle in or if i'm working on a mower or something i've got a big enough area where i have you know nice clean uh cement floor to work on so that was the plan there i didn't want to pour a concrete pad for a reason a couple reasons a cost b i'm on basically a huge hill uh the shop that i'm at uh this is this has been put in i guess within a couple years and although i've been here well actually god i've been here for two years so it's probably been here for i think three or four years and i haven't really seen any settling but just i'm sure it's going to settle a little bit being on the edge and i certainly didn't want anything to crack so you know these are just pavers if it settles or falls a little bit it's no big deal i can always add a little more base under them and bring them back up but i think it's going to be fine the way it is and then i got this free i haven't finished framing it but i've got the main structures in here and i will have a back wall my plan will be to take uh the same plastic siding across here they also have it in clear and what i'm going to do is use the clear probably from about five feet up and have this whole top section clear so it can let in some sunlight some natural light i don't want too much in here because i don't want to you know be baking in the sun either but i would like to let a little light in i am going to put some sharp lights and stuff in here that run off the solar power the shop is an absolute mess inside here but uh this is basically where i've been working out of for now and now it allows me to expand into this area which is 16 feet from wall to shop over there and 24 feet that way so i can pull in truck you know bobcat a trailer whatever i need and actually fit it completely in here and not have to worry about it getting wet so let's see if i get a bit of a better view of just did a little overhang there over the top of the uh the truck box and this also allows me i can pull a truck right up to the truck box open up this door here and load materials in in and out without having to you know go in the shop i am going to put a small uh entry door right here when i frame it in so i'm able to go in the shop this way without having to open up the big barn doors that i'll have here um at some point before winter i'll be doing that right now obviously being open is probably better because it's hot and uh it's nice to have the breeze rolling through here so but yeah like i said i got about 1100 into it um low budget and uh very functional i thought it was uh basically i just kind of looked on youtube and got some ideas on you know on how to do how to do this and uh you know i've i didn't take a ton of time to make sure everything's perfectly straight and even and all that you know it's it's off a little here and there but i think it's uh it perform it'll perform its function just fine and anybody else that might be thinking about doing something like this it's a pretty inexpensive way um i don't know if you saw in any of the other videos i have up but i did have one of those uh you know harbor freight uh plastic uh canopy tent type things that i had up and that lasted for about three months or so four months and we had a big windstorm and it came in and ripped that down so i knew i had to make something a little more sturdy so the idea will be as we get to the of winter like i said close that door uh that um that wall in uh frame this up and do probably a ten foot wide uh double barn door so a five foot door and a five foot door that swings open and that'll leave three feet of a wall on either side and like i said a small entry door right here to be able to come into from the side here and then i'll be able to run uh you know probably just get a wood stove or something in here thinking maybe i'll stick a wood stove right here in the corner i could put just use maybe some of this tin down here and just kind of line the walls with that to make sure the heat doesn't you know melt any of this plastic or whatever make sure it's uh not a problem not like it's going to be that close anyways but then i can go ahead and uh vent it right through the ceiling through the tin roof and then i can uh burn some firewood down here so any any days that i might be down here working on a piece of equipment or something and uh rather than freezing my butt off be able to uh heat it up a little in here not gonna insulate it or anything like that it'll just be come down work for a few hours and run the wood stove just to kind of take the chill out at least i'll be out of the elements but uh yeah came out pretty good i figured i'd share it with you guys and i'll probably do an update video of uh the other uh for now i'm gonna just put some three-quarter inch stone in here probably just some native uh just to kind of fill this area in just so it's not dusty and dirty and then you know that way when i pull something in it'll stay clean without all the stone dust getting all over it and uh like i said all i have to do is just park whatever i need to over on this section here if i need to work on something you know run a floor jack or something but yeah here's my uh low budget pole barn slash carport i'm able to have already tried everything everything will fit in there i mean i could put the dump trailer in there if i wanted uh the the lawn trailer fits in there which is the main reason i'll be using it is to store that because it's not enclosed and that'll keep that you know the mower and everything out of the elements and of course the uh the case skid steer that i picked up recently i don't know if i do i have that on the channel yeah pretty yeah i got that on the channel already but uh i could also store that in there if i wanted as well to keep that out of the elements should probably put the snow plow in there too we'll see anyways uh thanks for watching and uh any questions put down the comments i also noticed uh 95 of the people that watch my videos are not subscribed i know that uh it's usually like a 50 50 50 half the people that watch are subscribed and half aren't but not sure why that is but uh hey if you're watching this hit the subscribe button where you thanks have a good one guys [Music]
