Car Fishing 300ft+ Down a Cliff | Steep Mountain Rappel

[Music] I've probably done a half dozen cars that's pretty good okay let me see if I can grab the receiver somehow we're definitely gonna need more attentions oh yeah [Music] hello everybody and thank you for tuning in into today's video in today's video I definitely have one for the history books in which a car was actually pushed down in embankment and ended up resting over 300 feet from the roadway up on Highway 74 which is a mountain pass that overlooks the Coachella Valley in Southern California in this case the insurance company contacted us to pick up the vehicle and with that and all the information we were given this is definitely not a job where you can just roll up and start winching so initially I drove up to the scene in just a pickup truck just to take some photos do a site assessment fly the Drone take some measurements and immediately I knew this was not just a job that we could roll up and start winching on so I came up with a plan of action I spoke with darl I spoke with my dad I spoke with my grandpa just you know trying to come up with the best way to get this vehicle out because not only was it a long way down there we're also dealing with very steep conditions and it's just you know there's a lot that could go wrong so we want to make sure that we cover all our bases so what you will see that's different from some other jobs that we've done in the past is you'll see some repelling equipment you'll see full body harnesses cable extensions you know this is a technical job and I hope you guys see that and see the effort that was put into this because this was not just a job that you could you know just do you know 30 minutes after you got the call there was a lot of planning involved with this one and hopefully you guys enjoy that because this was definitely like I said one for the history books and it really put our company to the test and hopefully you guys can see that so with that being said hopefully you guys do enjoy this video let me know in the comments what you thought about it and yeah let's get to work okay so let's put two extensions extension 50. 25 50s the 50s so let's put uh two extensions together and start off with two extensions and hook them in the cable and start dragging the whole thing down so we'll do two extensions off the main cable rope off of a d-ring on the Rotator we'll throw it as far as we can the two extensions and then you're gonna rope down to the extensions hook into that and continue down okay we can send the the mini J then the regular chain just the chain yeah and like I said if you can go around the trailer or the towing chip it has one right so that should be 50. easily maybe we want to use that since we're not going to have to break it down or what do you think what the that pen or do we want to use just a standard safety pin but it was easiest to release yeah I think we're gonna have to transfer it to a second to get rid of the extension because I don't think it's going to stay put like long ways down would you say how many cars I've pulled out over the years a few far down like this I've probably done a half dozen cars 74. I've done a big rig I've done a couple big rigs up here oh really over the edge yeah oh shoot came up in pieces yeah um all right so we're gonna have to get the truck set up thinking we'll do Outriggers over the over the ledge probably gonna have to curb up that though but so we're close enough huh no I think I think we're good there I'm just saying uh the Outriggers are gonna come into the dirt that one should be fine it'll sit up high enough over the curb but that one it's kind of weird foreign level it's a little bit like this but left and right we're good what uh what are you going to take down there for chain three eighths I take something endless just in case you have to yeah you don't need anything huge I'm endless trailer as you can um go ahead and get that boom tip over here so I can tie it and stuff when you got a chance maybe right here on top of this rock I say there that way it doesn't interfere with boom in out Caitlyn or you could even hang it from the uh so it might hang better from the cable tie-offs just because it's smaller yeah a little bit harness on okay figure eight knot it's all pretty new to me I taught myself a lot of this before we came out and did this okay so there's a figure eight apparently it's the climbing knot that everyone uses one of the kind of gold standards yeah step into it and then this goes over your shoulder kind of gotta like step in that right side because there's 150 feet this is probably the rope we're going to want to use to just kind of feed with you so somehow you're gonna have to take that rope the second rope down with you so I don't know the second row the extension and tie it off down there I don't think so do you think you'll be able to manage 500 feet of rope and all the way down there are you gonna feed it off huh You're Gonna feed it off right I'm going out because it's all got to be on the bottom I'm gonna feed it from here I'll stay on the table so then stay on the cable until that real estate 125. no it's 220. we ordered darl some snake chaps because it's like Prime snake season right now weather just started warming up he wanted assless tell them no huh yeah okay so let's talk about this for a second like I was saying you're gonna have to go down on this rope to get to the bottom of that extension and then from there though how are we going to manage 250 or 500 480 feet of rope all the way down there are you gonna be untied off there and remember trophy header this is 220. this won't get them there correct so so we have another rope that we're gonna tie so what I'm saying is darling are you going to be able to tie that knot down there like basically take the rope with you and tie tie and have to yeah because I mean I don't think you're managed that much rope without it getting all tangled unless you throw it every you know yeah no you just need to walk down this way oh yeah all right well it was Mating Season well why don't we do this Daryl I'll tie the knot up here on the end of the coiled rope so that way when you get down there all you got to do is take it off wherever you if you're hanging on to it toss it and you'll have to transfer yourself I don't feel comfortable tying the knot that's going to keep you alive right there let's do a rotate I don't have that facing up to you always driver that his trailer so it's over the edge like that most of the time talking oh there you go that one's better it's really important oh it's right here I'm gonna tie that stopper knot on the end of the Rope remember you got to hold it and then you might want to clip it into a carabiner there like we did just as a precaution guy what do you mean well you got to hold on to the yeah and once you get it in a lock it's not going to be like out of a free fall but once you get it into a lock then it'll lock as you're paying cable out on the handle if you were to wherever you can get it out there's your stopper I don't think you'll ever get to the end of it but that's the end huh all right let me put this back in your bag okay you need gloves you're wearing a helmet no that's it yeah now I'm just uh do we want to send an endless chain just in case he has to feed one end through the trailer hitch or something or I don't know if we have it but I just kind of look it doesn't to me it didn't look like it in a minute okay maybe you want to take some tape down there with you to tape this through the ends just so it doesn't come on pin if you have any spots on your buster foreign these answers yeah I'm gonna tape that to the end of I threw it down there you go you got those uh climbing gloves on let's throw those on ES huh as opposed to what these uh maybe just in case because these might get sucked into the I got it what's the weight on it the lock I'm gonna hand me that tape really quick though all right I gave you a little pull tab here rip that off um I'm thinking we're going to want to do you want to hook this rope to you for what to use over there we just want to repurpose this yeah you're not gonna stay hooked on this you can tie it off to the car move it over right chili guard rail right right yeah I just popped this off on tweet all right so um am I on the same page about what's going on [Music] we need to be really mindful of the cable um how far we're going out with it yeah and I mean you and I need you and I need to be really careful about where we step up here because any Rock's falling or going to him yeah he can't hurt him that much yeah all right so Shane you're taking this cable you're pulling this down with you yeah it's already uh taped into the end of our two extensions I think it'd be uh hooking that in and just pulling it down with your your weight you're gonna take it to the front yeah are moved off it I just can't believe how little damage the car has it seems like it's pretty intact isn't it yeah the fender the driver's side both the fenders are how far would you say you are from it right now probably okay but the driver's side it escaped something going down because the driver's side's all messed up had a passenger side how's the rest of the terrain look like pretty much the same as what you're dealing with or steeper dropping off the Rock Ledge I hear a bird it's a plane I'm off the Rope or the cable for a second I'm just gonna see what we're at the cable okay okay we receiver that's right I'm 10 on ledge he's on a Ledge so I can boom down yeah okay if you want to tighten up on the Rope you can this is an auxiliary I'm saying all that booming down all right I'm booming back up let me know when it starts yanking on you did you hear that though yeah so I'm booming up right now so let me know when it starts pulling on you [Music] okay I'll hold there then if I toss this rope it should unwind right um yeah Theory yeah I mean yeah you're in a good spot where you can transfer to the below the knot okay so you want me to just tie off here you want to take the main cable back up and load extensions up there and I'll drag it back down yeah probably but anyway I'm about to climb back up [Music] really somewhat close do you want me to throw chains in this in this mix to get you all the way there how many feet you think we got on cable you got quite a bit you've probably got yeah where you're at the hill you've probably got the 80 foot cable together oh no we have two together so we have two yeah that's 100 foot okay are these actually fifties right I've got another one in my back of my truck you don't have pins for it I don't know you need how much more playing 100 probably to be on the safe side I think that's you got I think you have a 25 in here because this one of these is a 25 for sure the other one's a 50 like you said yeah yeah you get 75 feet so darl has the end of the Rope is that correct yeah yeah let me tie a knot up here and then I'll let you know when it starts going down below whatever is going to be easiest for you probably hook there and take your extension whatever I mean it means I gotta bring both extensions here you are a good doll to feed that a little bit yeah I'm working on it might be easier how are we gonna get the Rope back up to us support on the end ties it we're trying to go [Music] okay there's one end oh okay hold we don't have a hook here oh we don't have a pin either this one looks like a 50. you want me to tie this in instead of the probably I guess the 25 is already down but do we want to pull that back up and throw this in this one's really long on my way here um well I just tied in up there okay hold up the U-turn then you can hook it right there I will just throw this in line it's not as long as I thought all right I'm gonna have to use um cotter pins but I'm gonna put the container Link in those ones so if you do have to break them down you can do it through the container link okay all right you are good to pull all right hang on one second okay you're good untangled about 25 more feet we're gonna have to hold and put one more pin in the end of this [Music] okay good to pull all right and um yeah I'm hands off get your uh Rangefinder and spot him where he's at right now Carl is 42.5 yards it's about 100 120 feet 130. there's got more cables yeah the extensions right at the concrete ledge all right I'm booming down okay no we're gonna leave that there I bet she's gonna move it no that's gonna stay there we're gonna move the Rope oh the Rope yeah just unpin it we're going to utilize that all right going about here I think over a little bit more is what he was thinking just trying to be out of that tree okay maybe we can no I got a lanyard set up for it I was over here and I don't know like this one I know that you can't get it over that tree we can't just no flip it over you're not gonna flip it over that try to because it's hung up down there too low yeah I should go around go down and around that's why I'm still yeah I mean it's not bad right somewhere my rope's going over the Rope so the cable yeah I'll watch it booming up you getting tension okay it's gonna flip over this Edge it looks like might get a little Whiplash it's gonna go away for me though much for rocks yeah I'm pulling it pulling the car yep around an edge to get the Drone going yeah are you in a good spot there though yeah right now I can go I can go up that way you want me to go up on that rope on that rock ledge up above yeah I just would you know if I go up there and transfer lines yeah you got time how far are you from the from the joint in the line 15 feet oh okay all right you let me know when you're in a good spot to kind of watch things for a second let me get transfer on the line up here yeah so you're you're pulling on the on the blue line yeah really it's so slack up here it's like bending around bushes and all kinds of things I see you do you see these two kind of dead bushes up here that the ropes going around yeah I mean it's not that big deal just don't you might get a little jolt out of it if it breaks them all right good yeah all right booming up [Music] all right this is the boom tip kind of okay I can see the car moving so we caught right there on that yeah it'll pop itself off yeah that's that sheer Rock so it should just uh just be just watch yeah just watch it if it gets to uh yeah there it goes stop slide okay car's moving right and they're good not yet but I'm up at like 60. so I'm gonna go cable from there all right lights coming in are you coming now okay there he goes side of this ledge right here sideways I think it'll pop up or you thinking you got no choice yeah I was gonna go where the car is going yeah obviously like do you think it'll come up over it or on it it'll come outside that's down there always yeah the front ax has gone on volume maximum three four anything coming up that's going to be a problem that's going right where it needs to it's we're riding right in that rock slide area going good right there so I'm just kind of holding this consistent speed so just let me know if it seems like it's hanging up it doesn't really seem like the truck's budging at all so I mean you're about to hit a pretty steep in time so just keep going watch out for some Rocks coming down I don't know if that's your problems are going to be right on that big steep into those rock star up above you for that problem spot you can just watch it okay oh yeah just keep pulling it's coming up it yep it's coming up nice you know what's going to do watch your cable up there yep got it I don't know where we're gonna transfer at that's gonna be the hard part down as far as we can yep thank you actually that thing will jump over that there's a nice little Ridge right there could go up and see the sideways all right it's kind of cutting into it is any uh like cable terminations coming up or am I just your first one no I'm standing up on that on that rock face where it's bending around just went through okay here the last one so I want to knock any pins out or anything you know that last one just went through it's a good little rock slide hmm I'm gonna go a little bit more that way I think 50 feet of cable left so let's start thinking about where we're going to want to park this thing get it above that ledge yeah yeah get it up over that big bridge right there's ideal doing all right have to lock the cable down luckily it's not too far down we'll do the same thing throw that rope off there it's about the same spot it was before we don't have the Rope oh no it's in the car where's the tagline ropes the what the tagline rope tagline oh I mean those are like 10 feet long is that it unless you think you can get yourself into a a spot where you can hold your footing I can pull a cable up this way and then you can use the second rope that you have and we can basically so I can get a rope up here and then I can give you you can pay me up a cable I can tie off another knot and that way you have you're still hooked up and then I have a cable up this way that makes sense no okay so so if you can hold your footing you'll just open the brake on the on the device the Beyblade and all just start hand pulling up cable and then you know you'll get under the knot I'll get I'll get the knot up to me I'll undo it and then I'll re-tie a new knot here that makes sense yeah okay if you can you might as well throw that one send that 120 up too and I'll just pull that what's up 120. or whatever the 150 the black one if you if you want to hook that in too that's really cool okay that's a really cool shot you should do that shot again when I'm pulling it you can see it like coming over the sheet and stuff it's really cool I'm gonna put it down for now okay uh what do you want that's where it's at I'm gonna lock up the winch 10 feet oh we I think we can get the Rockets right there that's where the hook is there's about 100 rocks down there all right well hang on let me lock in uh blue I'm gonna cable out so we don't lose the spool now I just have to pull it and I'll stop when we've gone too far all right Daryl can you pull on the cable the best you can yeah the cabling back the flatbed up probably right over there back it up right to the Rotator swing this guy on set it get out of here so uh yeah that's what's next but like I said that one flawlessly foreign [Music]
