the vision for Canberra is to empower everyone to create and communicate I came up with the idea when I was at University and I was teaching students how to use design programs and it became very apparent that these were way too complex and difficult and in the future it was going to be a lot easier online and simple when we founded canva really wanted to create a workplace that we would want to come to and enjoy on a day to day basis I think the best way to express the scope of what we're building at canva is to say that each button represents an entire industry that means that we get to design and build an ecosystem whose parts fail through several orders of magnitude we now have millions of users around the globe eating camo which is absolutely mind-boggling they're creating hundreds of thousands of designs every single day so we have a chef song who cooks us lunch every day it's really great being able to have lunch with everyone every day because we will get to talk with each other talk about what we're working on rather than going out and eating lunch by ourselves I can bring the kids in to work they can hang out here and they love it you know they really want to be prepared be here in school frankly canva has built this office in Manila but if actually like created a family the most inspiring thing for me is working with amazing people every day we come from a huge range of cultures and countries and everyone has at least one particular thing they do really really well with the rest of us can learn from I really loved the engineering culture that we have a camera we challenge each other's ideas and we're always learning from each other and we're always looking for ways to work smarter rather than harder this means that we get to use cutting-edge technologies that allow us to think horizontally rather than vertically moving to Sydney wasn't a hard decision canvas brought together an incredible group of people and incredibly talented covered people and it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work for this kind of spirit we've got a wide range of people candor and they'll have different types of hobbies so I think our culture is a reflection of the people who work at a bar it's developed naturally based on what people like doing so some people like playing board games so they're indoor games and some people won't play video games so we bring a console it's our team's focus on designing and building and great experience that is allowed a 3 2 million views and ultimately we'll make the name canvas synonymous with great design knowing that it is what we built that enabled our users to express that creativity that was a real buzz I like looking at the culture I have knowing where things came from and seeing it evolve over time and my kid hassles need to spend time playing with Canberra time it's a fun ride and the whole family is invited along for that ride it's amazing to see campaign I use his head we have the most incredible to you that's woman's journey and we're just getting started
