welcome back gb guns we're out today with the canik meta sft we have changed the back strap to the mid size that's what we found fit both t and i the best because of this area here filling that spot on the palm felt just a little more comfortable we have also mounted the magazine well that came with the gun we did all this using the tools that come with the gun and pretty easy pretty awesome most complete probably most practical tool set that i've seen come with a gun and as you may have noticed we are going to be using the holster that came with it not through everything we just wanted to get a feel for it we figure people always ask about these things and canik has changed their included holsters quite a bit over the years so let's get a feel for it and give you our commentary on it our cold shots are at 20 yards as always on our reduced-sized abc zone piece of steel out there just to get a feel for the gun i will secretly admit that we've each shot about 20 rounds today so we're not totally cold but we wanted to check things out in advance so [Music] mostly cold shots here we go good retention on the holster recoil is manageable i'm certainly glad that we went with that mid back strap that's filling the hand really nicely while driving down and it's let me drive the gun pretty hard also as i pointed out in the table top with my larger hands that magazine well is serving as a lip to capture my pinky and keep my hand on there nice and tight as the gun tries to recoil that magwell hits my picky finger and says and it stays flat which is how i just drove those pairs at 20 yards on a small target fairly rapidly was success so far so good let's see what tia thinks so as graham mentioned we've had a few warm-up shots with these however this is called from the holster for me um i'm excited to to have more time with these because i'm hoping to have a lot more time with these in the future so i really like how quickly i can acquire my target with nice large sights that was poor really manageable just as fun as i remember and pleasant as i remember them being at center t and like i said i'm hoping to spend a lot more time with these and more on that way in the future um but so far so good let's get on with what's for dinner all right so if you're new to the channel the way we test things out we do our cold stars that you just saw full mag plus one because not all guns run that way our what's for dinner test trademarked and kind of a fan favorite then we're going to do our spinner test for trigger control and site learning then some accuracy tests to kind of practical accuracy but also conclude our thoughts afterwards you'll get the opinions from the both of us we do the full mag plus one which we're using uh cci bulk blazer ammo because not all guns run that way and since this comes with both an 18 and a 20 rounder we've got the 20 rounder filled because some of those extended base plates sure they give you the space but the spring isn't up to it where i got the same piece of steel at 20 yards more so i have something to aim at but i am going to try to shoot these as rapidly as possible to get a feel for controllability of the gun at speed and hopefully i hit things if not if you hear a miss just say ding in your head and it'll look like i'm a better shooter but mostly we're looking at the mechanical function of the canik meta sft here it goes 21 rounds i don't know if you guys could see it from your angle but while shooting it was a perfect rainbow of brass very consistent ejection as you saw the slide locked black back which means the mag worked beyond just feeding those rounds it also means that somehow i managed to keep my big old thumbs off of riding on the extended sled release which is a problem for me with most guns so far looking pretty good for dinner what's for dinner time now as we scroll over each of these 10 different loads you'll see of course that we're shooting different bullet weights and each projectile has a different overall length a slightly different shape to it this is all going to affect how much pressure it creates in the gun which is going to impact what we feel as shooters and the possibility of the gun functioning or not functioning we have a aluminum case steel case this zqi by the way is nickel plated steel that's kind of interesting um we go from 65 grain all the way up to 154 grain with this ruag subsonic stuff here firing three rounds looking to see does it feed from slide lock is there enough energy to cycle and feed another round of the same type and lastly enough energy to lock the slide open on empty the third shot is kind of just to reduce variables we're not testing the magazine here we're testing the compatibility of each of these loads with the firearm our first load is the lightest this is the liberty civil trainer only a 65 grain really lightweight load and if you remember the early canik imports had trouble with some american 115 grain let it go let alone lighter stuff so if this gun's going to choke it's likely going to be on this light stuff chambered then i'll be shooting starting at the top left and moving my way left to right on our target out there tia is going to be showing you the gun so if there's a cycling issue you see it and then the target afterwards just so we can see if these things print anywhere funny if it doesn't agree with the rifling of the gun etc such a loud round no issues cycling and lock the slide open pardon the wind moving the target around next up is the winchester how clean super clean 90 grain this is a zinc core lead free round softer shooting no issues cycling though our third load is the norma mhp monolithic hollow point 108 grain sort of an odd one it's a black zinc plated case and i believe it's zinc coated projectile so it's all really pretty it's also typically a very smooth shooter no issues with the mhp next moving into something a little spicier the winchester silver tip 115 grain these tend to be a little harsher on the recoil but that more violent energy helps with reliability yep it's more violent i felt the side lock hard on that one the gun definitely moved a little more violently in your hands now moving into our steel case this is silver bear also tends to be a little spicy tia's smiling behind the camera because she hates shooting this stuff it's zinc plated steel steel remember like aluminum expands and contracts at a different rate within the chamber and has different friction in the chamber than brass typically does steel can also corrode which is why in this case it's zinc plated to try to zinc washed reduce that friction and help with reliability yep there's that recoil pretty sure i'm feeling the slide bottom out at the back end harsh but as much as i love to not like silver bear it usually shoots pretty darn well and pretty accurate for our next course we've got the blazer aluminum 115 grain on the target i'm going to move down a row and start on the left of the third area those were leaving in a hurry and next is the zqi 124 grain zeke plated brass jacketed i think i got all that right still case [Music] i don't know if i didn't like that or if the gun didn't interesting and for the eighth load and what's for dinner um the spear le gold dot this is 124 grain also [Music] i'm gonna have to either chalk it up to me or the wind target is blowing around a little bit yeah for circle number nine although we don't have numbers the spear gold dot personal defense these are 147 grain so after paying a bit more attention to my shooting i'm pretty sure for the last course here are the ruag 154 grain subsonic last time i got these i really enjoyed them so i'm interested to see how they feel through this [Music] very nice and yeah that mess i made up there that was all me i'll just own it all right it's spinner time so the goal here is to try to get that spinner to go over the top this is actually a test of our ability to learn and control this trigger and sight because as the spinner gets hit and starts moving the closer it gets to going over the top the faster it is so it's a little bit of a time pressure test it's more of a test of our ability to learn this gun than it is the gun itself but sometimes it provides some good insights tia has given us eight rounds this time we are about 15 yards away from a six-inch target whoops that's where stopping it hurts that's a channel first folks that was four times over the top and the fatal disassembly so what does that say about the sights and trigger on this thing well i'd say it's pretty controllable and predictable at least for me i'm just gonna shoot it's not a competition he says it's not a competition but i have a very competitive mindset [Music] nice and truth be told i gave myself 10 rounds of because i'm always just two rounds short it seemed to pay off all right i finally did it i'm not gonna say anything else for five shots from seven yards today we're using the arkon 124 grain match grade hollow points black nickel plated cases beautiful rounds i'll be shooting well tina knows where i'll be shooting and she'll show you but see how this does with some slow controlled fire and then our closing thoughts [Music] [Music] a little bit of target dance from the wind there but i will take that group so using the same ammo that graham was using my shot's from about seven yards for accuracy hopefully that target quits moving around but i now know it's me not the gun oh let me uh go ahead and put one in there [Music] i do love that trigger those last three were awesome thanks so is the meta the meta i think so we've saw great performance today very comfortable gun it's amazing how far canik has come with the tp9 series and between finding the right back strap but the added texture on the front really keeps the gun steady and for me and for those of you with large hands having this mag well to scoop your finger in there works great for the draw and notice it doesn't protrude at the back anymore so it doesn't necessarily make it harder to conceal but it scoops your hand in there and then as the gun tries to recoil it gives the ah at the bottom the trigger very predictable excellent the factory sights also excellent nice and blocky even have that ledge for racking off of a rock or something for my veteran friends a belt or a table for my civilian friends really impressed with this thing canik has hit out of the park with this one so my overall impressions of the sft is really pleased with it um as you can see obviously the more time that i have done the a little bit better that i got i finally that's thinner over um and what i noted when we were going over these back strap exchanges to try and decide what we wanted was that it's it's noticeable and it makes a huge difference in the way that it fits and where this mag well um for graham fits everything it also allows my hand to come in here nice and tight so i get a really good firm grip and it again keeps that from flipping because both hands are right in there total control over that gun i'm really impressed thanks for watching hope you enjoyed this and remember for more information on this stuff that we can't say or show on youtube and some afterthoughts a little bit deeper dive into this check out gbgunsdepot.com
