for the past eight years or so we've been covering tsash firearms and found them to generally be very high quality at a very affordable price some of the models are cool some of them not so cool I think we've found the working man's cool 1911 with the Night Stalker tabletop review and field strip coming up next on TV guns The Night Stalker 1911 represents as I understated further Improvement to the already fine dsage Firearms you can see on the tag here we've got forged frame and slide series 70s internals instead of 911 magazines and it was hardened before a machine they have also done away with almost all of the MIM parts now metal injection molding methods have improved greatly since what the 70s when people thought that uh or when there were issues with them in Firearms however there are still people who haven't gotten over that and don't trust the name alone as I understand it the only MIM part in this gun is the spring plunger which who cares but anyways in the Box we've got one mag in the gun a second mag these are metgar eight round magazines that's right folks this is a 45 ACP we have a federally mandated lock in a nice durable chamber flag as well as a bushing tool for those who don't have something like the real Avid tool I love this thing and it's got a nice divoted cutout for hitting your slide lock um for takedown which is kind of a cool touch up top we have a cleaning rod and brush as well as our manual I mean it looks fairly well written in your standard four color black gray red and white using renderings which I find useful for being able to highlight specific parts for images everything's pretty clean a nice large plot I do not see any restrictions or warnings about ammunition now there are more than there is more than one way to field strip a 1911 we'll be following the manual today and doing it by removing the spring first with that out of the way we can finally take a look at the gun so what makes the Night Stalker different well for one it's got this cerakote which is kind of a Stone gray if you will I believe it's described as titanium or one of the metal colors and it's it's kind of a grayish blue to it we've got a rail we've got lightning Cuts in the slide these nice aluminum grip panels which though they do not have texture they have a spectacular shape you can see that edge there and how my fingers wrap right onto it very nice and comfy and you've got a factory installed night sights we've got tritium up front with a orange ring around it and kind of a u-cut in the back but they've kept the top here a nice sharp edge so you can still get a good alignment there I noticed just in playing with a gun after I got home that the circle around your tritium up front if you get the camera there we go to focus and show you that ring fits just about perfectly into the u-shape here so you can use it that way at night basically with a blacked out rear come up and as soon as you're obstructing any of your light you know you need to back down to have a proper align slight picture so pretty nice there I was curious about this thing because well it's a step up for tsash who already makes Great Guns and it's at a heck of a price I picked this up for around 600 thanks to the patrons for making that possible but this is a pretty loaded 1911 by most standards and 600 is about what I paid for my first handgun which was a 45 1911 GI model so for the same price getting rail getting lightning Cuts getting night sights getting this flat trigger getting a skeletonized hammer these cool aluminum grip panels a large I mean this is a fairly loaded setup I was curious to see if these lightning cuts um we're going to shed a lot of weight or not it's also a sort of a tri-top slide versus rounded so I off camera weighted against this slide off of my Yama or llama Max one these aren't around anymore so I figured it was a fair comparison and it's the closest to standard n45 that I still have I found the Night Stalker to be about seven tenths of an ounce lighter than this particular slide the pistol itself however is a little bit heavier because well you've got extra Steel on there for that Rail and we also have the mag well pretty loaded gun feature wise not loaded with around in the chamber check for magazine release or ejection sled lock back gun upside down and it kicks it quite decently nice ejection there more than a release it does catch so when you if you just push and release of course now it's not doing it it'll put enough pressure on the mag to retain it so you do need to hold it down until the mag is all the way out and there you have it met gar eight round mags witness windows on both sides very nice yeah I dropped the slide on empty 1911 I've been doing it for years never had a problem with it I know I know I know there are a lot of older guys with older experiences that say that's a terrible thing to do but in uh two dead only two decades of 1911 ownership and use and granted it's not my everyday gun I have never had it cause an issue on a modern pistol enough said all right up front you can see we have our bushing and of course a 45 barrel looks awfully thin compared to nine mil for most enamel guys that's because it's usually they're keeping the same size slide and filling in the space with a narrower Barrel saw our site already that gives you a close look at the cuts plenty of rail space no texturing on the front of the trigger guard coming in close we've got the standard relief there this trigger has an interesting flat face but some angles to sort of direct your finger to the middle speaking of triggers since we're here brake is decent heavy recoil spring reset I mean it's like you'd expect for a 1911 it's not the crispest of triggers you're not breaking the proverbial glass rod that's the 600R gun I mean for 100 bucks or so you can get some parts to drop in there to change that the bones are what is important and this seems to have pretty good bones we've got some nice checkering on the front strap there the same pattern on the main spring housing look at the grips and the mag well here I like that it hangs a little bit lower in the rear but still allows room up front for bumper pads things like that this allows even my double XL hand to have plenty of space on there very comfortable gun her large grip safety and beaver tail which of course keeps your hand plenty clear of anything that might be hitting it here we go people gonna cry again oh um looking at a slide to frame fitment see there it's tight enough to push the oil out I have a little bit of side to side put a play of the barrel of course locks tight as it should for a brand new gun ambidextrous safety I checked for wiggle between the two sides there is just a little bit but the safety has really nice definitive pop into and out of position not too heavy not too difficult to do next we'll fill strip this and take a look inside the nightstalker field stripping is just like any 1911 it's not a full length CAD Rod so we have to worry about any tricks there after checking clear you're going to turn the barrel bushing this is where that bushing tool fits if you want to use it I'm going to demonstrate doing this without the tool to show you that it's possible and what struggles there may be or may not be push down on plunger and rotate this piece of degrees ease that tension out of spring now with the hammer back to make things easier we're going to bring the slide back and this is where I had to catch on me earlier I believe what was catching there is the plunger inside because as soon as I tilted the gun to bring it away check it out it it moved just fine bring this back to line up that cutout over our sled lock release and then push from the other side and you notice that this side is nicely relieved to allow you to get your finger in there however sometimes it can be tight and that's where why that tool had the included a little detention to push on it and now we can bring our slide off the front [Music] those are the way in this bushing which has to rotate the other direction come out and with that out making sure that this link lays down you can bring the barrel out the front if you look inside the slide I did notice with the cerakote and this happens on a lot of cerakote that it's got on this matte finish cerakote it has a little bit of texture to it so the gun feels a little not rough but it's not slick um so obviously you'll want to add oil it comes with plenty of oil in it but you'll want to add oil and all those rough spots will smooth out over time with shooting it because cerakote wears just happens frame it's very nicely put together it um the I'm not the biggest fan of the matte on the Finish but that's just a personal thing for me 1911s aren't something I would go fight with or something that I take to the range to enjoy let's do chamber fitment check while we're here I don't have any 45 Match anymore so I'm just gonna use some PMC bronze hopefully it's good enough we'll drop in and listen to the plunk see if the round can rotate and there's a little bit of friction there that could be dirt around still falls out nice or it could be that the throat is a little rough we'll find out when we get to the range and start shooting some various loads through it chamber support there but as I was saying about the madness and how it applies it adds some friction to the feel of the whole thing that's not something you really have to worry too much about because it's going to wear itself smooth as you shoot it how much break-in does that really mean we'll find out the range speaking of the range as I put this all back together in our range video you'll see the absolute first shots through the gun shots we'll do a full magazine plus one and check these mags but then being met gar I'm assuming they're gonna be pretty good now this is a tricky spot you just saw me shake it there the little eyelet that hangs from the barrel you need to have a lineup with this hole and sometimes that's what just happened to me in fact rather than fight it bring it up push it down again when those has those get more use and get as you can see a little tired they'll loosen up and it'll swing easier for better and For Worse come on it's always awkward to do with the way that my filming setup is done come on but rather than edit it all and make me look like I'm Flawless and everything is super easy all the time I leave it real for you guys so that when this happens to you you know that it's not that you're doing something wrong it's just that things don't always line up all right we want to make sure that this stays down and I'm using my thumb to hold the spring plunger in place reaching up there again not for the first time now I gotta pass the ketchup and the eyelet has come on there we go all right so with that eyelet in place I'm going to drop this in not pushing it all the way and just using it to keep the eyelet from moving bring it back to that cut up is lined up over there again and so take down now we can get our spring back in and this can take some force and I'm always concerned that the spring is not going to seat on its guide rod but every time it seems to work back in place quick functions check [Music] so seems pretty darn nice I'm calling it The working man's fancy gun because this is one heck of a package as far as features for about six hundred dollars how well does it shoot we'll find that on the Range thanks for stopping by we'll see you guys out there and thanks again to the patrons who made acquiring this possible see you later
