Candid Camera Classic: Foam Food!

[Music] when you're hungry what could be better than a dish of delectable molecular gastronomy yep that's the term for one of the hottest gourmet food fads and one type is known as foamed food as with so many fads a small group of trendsetters gets involved while the rest of us have little idea what it's all about now with that in mind come along to the argonaut diner in new york and we're gonna see katie oxman playing the waitress we split it up for you in the kitchen okay very good so here's two halves of a turkey club is that how it comes no the turkey lettuce and tomatoes will bacon yes this is actually a foam lettuce with some foam bacon tomato and oh i know i never had this i wanted it on toast you know what like the turkey club uh it's um what is it like the triple turkey club sandwich i thought we always used together the double decker let me go check with the chef yeah this is the wrong one the hell is this yeah here's your pancakes there's a side of sausage and you said you wanted warm maple syrup so i asked the chef to infuse some foam with it what this is our new foam infused food have you heard of the foam rage no it's a new gourmet uh i just want three regular pancakes hi there uh i spoke to the chef and he's very easily insulted and he would love it if you'd at least try it ma'am i'm not gonna try that not i'm not very good that's not what i ordered it is the same thing it's just the foam version okay i'm not i'm i don't know anything about the foam version i don't know anything about foam i'm not gonna eat that all right here is your harvest cheddar omelette with some hash brown foam and yours will be right out in one minute [Music] just the hash browns not not a foam i don't know what that home is oh this is our new hash brown foam okay but they were you don't serve the regular hash browns no well i guess i'll try it [Music] i thought you might like an extra side of foam so i brought that for you enjoy no no i don't that's why i need it i thought it came with mescaline greens um this is a masculine green foam oh okay it's part of the new menu all right i don't have to eat it so i'm not worried that's my attitude actually yeah you should i don't want to make fun of your food but can i i'll make fun of your food i unfortunately we only have the foam lettuce right now and there's a delay in your food because we had some delay foaming the roast beef don't worry about that the the roast beef is also foamed now in your dish how do you film those feet um it's a process that he learned in france it's coming over there's some new restaurants in new york all right sure i'm dying to see it okay that's cool um so there'll be no other lettuce for you unfortunately okay um did you try it like no do you like a side of vegetables baby all of our vegetables lettuce are now foam okay okay so i just checked with the chef again and i found out that today's meal was actually prepared by candid camera [Applause] are you serious yep [Music]
