Can You Escape a Paper Shredder?

paper shredder looks like a good paper shredder supposedly this paper shredder can cut up to 14 pieces of paper at once credit cards and DVDs I'm not sure if I believe it but I want to try and I don't want to just try with things that you're supposed to be able to shred I want to see if some urban myths are true here's the basic idea we have several different types of materials including CDs ties and headphones we want to see what happens if they're put through a paper shredder and if the paper shredder will survive I think everyone has heard the idea that if you get a tie caught in a paper shredder you won't be able to get it out and it's gonna like pull you in and I guess the ideas that'll strangle you or something it tightens your tight lips you up against it's not gonna be comfortable maybe this isn't just going to shred the paper into like little strips this is called the cross cut shredder meaning these are going to be like diced up into pieces so that will be even more interesting I have fabric this is actually a cutting mat for the kitchen headphones because that just seems like another thing that you know you could get caught in there it's attached you will see what happens and synthetic ponytail I don't really feel like putting my own hair in there so I have some of the hair that I use for cosplay and extensions we're going to see today what would actually happen if you got your ponytail common and this actually has a pictographic warning on it about both the ties and the hair warning I assume that it can get caught and mangled and just doesn't say what's gonna happen just seems to be warning you like hey this could be bad well you may feel uncomfortable as your tie pulls you slowly and inevitably into a shredder you're not going to feel with this spot here you can see it's sort of Y shaped and then goes down into a groove so without the bucket in this won't turn on you can see there's the cutting blades right there those are some serious blades and that's our paper shredder works so we were disabling the safety a little bit just so we could show how it works from the inside obviously not a recommended course of action but we really wanted to watch it do that let's start with what I can claim to do and I go from there not even a struggle seems to be mangling those up quite nicely oh and it actually has a good full force there all right oh that made lots of stacked confetti look at that didn't separate all 14 layers out necessarily so there are two different ways that I want to go with this I want to see what is the heaviest thickest material that this thing can cut through I also want to know how delicate it can be what is the lightest weight unit vector so tissue paper so the question whether it will slice it up the same way or if it'll just sort of like dunk it up yeah Meisel its way through or or if it's gonna Bend if it's like purl around six times I'm gonna have to go get a new paper shredder mm I hope not me too are we even gonna be able to activate it yeah I'm not even sure if this rule will count is it a sensor or does it need to go like this oh sure whoosh oh we've got it seems to be handling that okay we'll see on the inside that's hilarious to me did shred differently see how it's just sort of a wrinkled mess some pieces of it stayed much longer yeah I'm just managed to chop it up so that's what I was curious about so yes it's shredded it's not quite shredded the same way yes so when I saw this machine online it actually said it could cut their credit cards DVDs and CDs now when I got it as most products when you get them from Amazon sometimes it's not exactly what you thought you were ordering and the instructions said do not put anything in this except for paper yeah we don't really follow instructions I want one that can cut up CDs but can't handle DVDs that seems toward greet it didn't even struggle looks like someone murdered a disco ball it looks like a disco ball in there let's try your cutting mat which a little too big so we're gonna have to cut the cutting mat did not seem bothered no nothing has even slowed this thing down yet it has lights for overheating and overloading so far we haven't even hit it yet oh well this is kind of cool this didn't do the side cut didn't chip it up as much no look it bent it do that he bent through the side blade instead of actually sliced into strips pretty well but it was the chopping that it kind of fell short add of headphones now it doesn't say specifically to avoid getting headphones caught in there but we're going to try it anyway like if you're not paying attention you're in the office you're listening to music and like you're putting paper in there and it gets caught what's gonna happen and I accidentally got my headphone line over the opening as I started feeding the paper down in okay Oh No there go my headphones they're getting various odo it pulled the jack in somehow yeah that seems like a you problem I don't know what to do about that well pulled out of my ears no no no no oh it just cut it just sliced through the wires all right so it pulls headphones in a little bit and I'd say it ruins headphones really well mmm lovely sure work of that alright so I didn't know that this was a warning that came on paper shredders but when I used to work in an office I actually should scare a secretary a lot because I would like walk over the paper shudder and happen if my ponytail just got caught and she hated that question every time I asked but I want to know what would happen if your ponytail gets caught in the paper shredders getting real human hair is a little bit more expensive so this is synthetic this is like a type of plastic but it's gonna give a sort of the same effect so honestly this is how long this particular piece it yeah I use these for extensions when I'm doing cosplay but I'm just got a little bit like this so I have like a grip and I can see how how long you could technically hold on to this like if it were like a ponytail and it got caught and then you're stuck with it could you actually get this stuck in paper shredder might go ahead and try let's see if it'll go in with it Oh oh my gosh well it caught the hair it didn't really catch the paper uh that's gonna pull your head down onto it pretty well I think I can't fight the machine uh-huh oh I think you just ran out of sensors it doesn't know there's nothing there but your head wouldn't stop that I was able to pick up the machine rapunzel rapunzel let down your paper shredder double yikes oh well that's shredded hey guys don't put your ponytails in so I have this tie on and you may notice this is not quite a standard tie knot there's a reason for that what I've tied is a one-way slip knot I can pull on the wide end and it's not going to do anything to not but if I grab the narrow end it can just drop right off so if it's getting to a point where I feel like oh maybe it's gonna choke me or pull my face down into the shredder I can just it releases no longer connected I stay safe and I like that I'm in favor of this plan all right ty is being eaten oh this is actually shredding I'm actually seeing pieces of pie falling all right there lived in the machine oh oh it doesn't like it when you lift the machine they're gonna turn back oh and there we go shredded tie ends beautifully shredded I'm gonna try and feed it back in just the end here yep got it again so okay like it's I mean that is pulling and it's even starting to tighten around my neck so just gonna pull my emergency release and let it keep eating that tie got some good pull to it like if I hold it yeah it starts climbing well now you're breaking dress code what is left of my tie oh nothing is left of my tie this is here's my tie right there that's a tie it was a tie Wow you have to really try to have those problems like I could see maybe a strand of you know hair falling in but it's not gonna be like an entire ponytail you really have to try if you like to make this become a problem but it could be a problem you know it has an overload sensor you can overpower the Machine and I'm pretty sure you could just stop it and overload the Machine till it's not you have to cut the tie but it can hold its own weight but we we have the power to like push it off if we needed to they're gonna try and stop it oh you're gonna fight the machine okay with this fabric at least I was able to just tear right through it well actually we have one more thing to try we saved it for last just because we thought it might make a huge mess I was going to try and eat the cheese that we shredded with this but now that it's had hair anteye go through it we're gonna try it in the plastic wrapper first I just want to know if this could shred cheese if you wanted it to [Music] I can see some cheese goo still stuck there I fell so that means cheese stuck in those wheels now some of it's stuck to the wheels some of it's stuck to other stuff that's stuck in the wheels it's a mess here's an unwrapped piece of cheese which sticks to the sides a lot I'm not sure I'll be able to even feed it in I faith in you sticking to the sides a lot I can't okay well apparently cheese is safer than a Thai exercise in futility I think I've ever seen all right piece of cheese between two pieces of paper oh look at that delicious cheese paper we've made there's one more thing it says not to do on the instructions and that's used aerosol spray cans near it says like fires may happen if it overheats or something but maybe that can get our cheese through I'm just gonna grease the papers you ready kind of I think the cheese is so soft the cheese has one it just doesn't oh oh there we go finally got to keep to that is our nicest shredded cheese so far who fits those are new shredded yes I would give this thing basically zero points as a cheese shredder and say do not bother it's not worth the effort for the result but most people were planning on using this is the new thing to do it it's very popular to used to shred cheese for us but I wouldn't recommend it guys our paper shredder survives today's
