aoy have you ever wondered if you can afford living in Bangkok many people claim it's cheap but is it really true so stick around as I show you my real monthly expenses and show you that prices in Bangkok are not what you thought brace yourself because the last expense I show you might surprise you let's [Music] go let's start with a straight forward declaration I don't Le a luxurious lifestyle I'm more like a budget guy so my expenses might surprise you so first and most important one housing let me show you my place I live in central Bankok Grand 9 my condominium have amazing facilities such as infinity pool L gym SAA an amazing rooftop with this sick view look at that I live in one bedroom that is 41 square m in size yes it's not that big but enough for me the question you you might be asking now how much does it cost well it cost me reasonably 11,000 b a month which is roughly €290 but this price is for long lease let's say 1 to 2 years which is always cheaper than shortterm lease it could cost you more than a double if you come and rent this place for a month or two now quick little tip if you are looking for a good deals directly from owners and and not agents try to use Marketplace which is very popular here in Thailand additionally there is a requirement for two month deposit on the first day along with The Upfront payment of one of the months deposit but don't forget to negotiate because everything in Thailand is negotiable include rent prices now let's move on to my utility bills electricity is around 900 B a month roughly 25 water is a still at 100 b a month which is not even three next is my internet not to mention that internet in Thailand is one of the the fastest in the world my 1 GB internet connection cost me 300 bu a month so now let's put everything together rent include utility bills plus Internet total price is 12,300 B which is roughly €340 next on theas is health insurance I'm insuring AXA Kai and it cost me 2,800 b a month roughly €70 don't forget that health insurance has to be the first thing you do before visiting Thailand as hospitals in Thailand are really really pricey after all necessary expenses it's time to find the SIM card with the internet I used to pay a package in AIS which cost me 700 bu a month but now I bought the SIM card with a unlimited internet for 12 months which cost me 1,700 B which is roughly 140 b a month now quick little tip if you are on a budget there is option to buy prepaid paid SIM card from AI or true with unlimited internet for 12 months I usually order those SIM cards from shopping applications like Lazada or shopy which are most popular applications here in Thailand now let's talk about my favorite part food Thailand is famous for its amazing delicious spicy and cheap food in every corner you will find cheap food vendor if you are on the budget I recommend eating at Food Markets or small local restaurants instead of fancy places my last month expenses for eating out were 4,500 B which is roughly €30 and I mostly order food from a grab application now let's talk about Groceries on average I'm grocery shopping twice a month and each time I spend around 2,000 b a mix of Essentials and few treats I like to shop at micro food where they used to have a great deals and discounts so total expenses a month 4,000 B which is roughly €100 next is transportation I ride my 900cc mt09 Beast it cost me around th000 bu a month for gas just to get me to work and back home now let's talk more about transportation in Bangkok let's start from the cheapest to most expensive cheapest option is using MRT or BTS system or local buses another affordable option is to use motobike drivers that you can find on the streets more expensive option is taking a taxi using grab or stopping a regular taxi with taxa matters make sure that driver turns on taxa matters the most expensive way of traveling is Tuk Tok which could be overpriced especially at the night in tourist places don't forget to negotiate the price with Tuk to drivers lastly what about other expenses you can have I'm all in for a healthy lifestyle paying 790 b a month for a gy membership yes why would I pay for membership when I do have my own small gym in my condo it just lacks some machines I like to use now brace yourself to the most expensive realm of Bangkok nightlife if you ever visited Bangkok before you might already know how dangerous nightlife can be for your wallet picture this a modest 150 to 200 B for a small beer escalating to 200 to 350 but for a single Sher cocktail Bangkok nightlife is one of the in the world but the cost can swiftly spiral out of the control consider a scenario we hang out every weekend Friday and Saturday night let's say six cocktails each time and Swift calculation reveals staggering 14,400 B which is roughly €380 let me give you a tip to find the best part in Bangkok My ultimate favorite Cowan Road the best party Street in Bangkok with a mix
